I'm trying to determine my goal weight. I'm 5'3", medium frame, but I'm muscular. I'm not a body builder or anything crazy like that, but I have 'soccer legs', defined arms, and I can feel a 'six pack' under my fat. (If only I could ever see it! :rotfl: ) Anyway, according to the height/weight charts I'm supposed to be around 115 lbs. I think that might be a bit low. My Dr. would like me to be 130 lbs. I think that might be a bit high. So how many pounds should I count for muscle? I'm thinking 5-7, does that sound right? I'm not obsessed with any particular number, and I'll stop 'dieting' when I'm comfortable with myself, but I was just curious. Any thoughts?

I haven't a clue. It is an interesting question and I thought I like to know if there is a logical answer.

Do you belong to a gym? I know the gym I used to belong to would do that electro body composition thing and they could tell you how many pounds of muscle you were vs. fat. I found it very interesting because at the time I weighed more in muscle than my target weight which meant that if I lose every pound of fat I would also have to lose muscle to get to that weight which did not sound like a good idea. It is one reason why my target weight now is about 15 pounds above the max for my height on all those charts.

That's not a bad idea. I go to the local rec center to work out and they have personal trainers and all that. I was just always afraid of the 'fat pinch' test they use. I don't have much fat up top so it all sits in my legs and butt. I know they usually will pinch your leg with the callipers for the body fat test - no thanks! :teeth:
