How many ponchos in Sept.

Going for 7 days/6 nights (including travel) Sept. 12-18th. Just wondering how many ponchos I should bring a person. I'm gonna get cheapy ones and use them single use (I know it's not very "green" of me). Should I get 1 or 2 per day, maybe take like 8 per person? Thanks.

When we were there last September it rained every day. Sometimes multiple times per day. We used the Disney ponchos that we bought on a previous trip. I am not sure what they cost but I don't think they were that expensive.

I don't know how many people you have in your group but I know I would not want to have to pack 8 ponchos for each member of my family.

While September is towards the end of the rainy season at WDW, you should plan on getting rained on briefly every day and be happy if you get a day that it doesn't rain. Oh, and if there's a hurricane then all bets are off.

We are going the week(ish) prior to your trip (Aug 31st - Sept 9th) and I'm thinking we will probably just buy the ponchos at the parks. Yay for rain!

If you buy a Disney poncho they will replace them if you tear them. I think they were somewhere in the $5-$7 range.

If you buy poncho's and bring them it will be your guarantee you won't need them.... so I would bring a few per person. At least that is what DH and I have found to be the case. The last 3 September trips we have packed ponchos, and have not used one. Lucky? Maybe. So everyyear I grab our trusty Walmart ponchos and throw them in the suitcase... who knows, maybe this year we will open one!

We always bring 1 per person per day. We have never used them all but I just roll them over into our next trip.

Especially in September and August, the chances of rain are pretty good every day.

We only wear the ponchos if it gets really bad, though. A little water never hurt anyone.

In all my disney visits 25 or 30 at least we have never ever pilled out the ponchos I quit packing them....if it rains that hard that long we will buy at the park.

I bought some from the dollar store last year and used them almost every day. Why throw them out after using them once? There was nothing wrong with them. Especially if it is raining on and off all day. This year I plan on buying them at WDW if we need them.

I bring umbrellas over ponchos most days. The poncho is only when it looks like really heavy storms are coming. You can bet it will showera little each day but not always that bad. I would bring a couple cheap ones per person and a big zip lock bag. Just fold them so the inside stays dry and toss at the end of the day so you don't have to spread them out all over and try to dry them.
I also have to have some extra flip flops/almost never sneaks when we go that time of year because even if the rain stops there are a lot of puddles.

Don't let anyone make you change your mind about rain gear. The thin ponchos are not bulky and heavy so stick with your plan. We have had 4 late Aug early Sept visits. Afternoon downpours were the rule not the exception. One Sept all night electrical storm cancelled Fanstamic when we were scheduled to see it (no second chance and still haven't seen it).

Don't let your clothes get wet and then enter an air conditioned place, but if you do, the ponchos help keep down the wind-chill factor.

We decided to pack a poncho per person per day once we discovered the aggravation of re-use by draping wet ponchos all over the room to try to dry out overnight. Sometimes it's not worth being green if it turns you red. They seldom dry completely and it is a drag to try to re-fold them and worse to put it on when it is still damp inside and out.

I hope that theory is right about if you bring rain coats it wont rain lol because I just bought raincoats off of ebay. Not the cheap ones and not expensive ones but, ones that shouldnt rip up easy. So hope that theory is correct We will be there Sept. 6th to 10th.

bring 1 per day per person. Sorry, not toting a wet poncho around. Only had 1 time where we threw the poncho away then needed 1 again later that day and we've taken 5 Sept trips.

We have had the exact same luck as you--not complaining--until this past December's trip. Out of 5 trips, we encountered our first rain shower of approximately 30 minutes. Who would have thought it would rain in December over September. I say carry those babies just in case, but maybe you won't need them.

I cannot really answer the question on how many you would need per day, but I bought some at Wal-Mart for a couple of bucks on clearance and brought a zippie bag that we threw them in when they were wet. When we got back to the room that night I just threw them over the shower curtain rod and let them dry out, folded them back up and placed back in a dry zippie bag for the day. It isn't hard to reuse them at all.

Ok - so if I am understanding this correctly - rain on MOST days in September is the rule vs. the exception -- Ok, now please understand that when we have rain here and get wet - we get cold. Will I want to pack longer pants for September vs the traditional hot weather summer clothes I pack when we go to WDW in July?? Or pack the same but perhaps pack dry clothes in an extra bag in case we get drenched in the parks?

I guess we've been lucky. I've been every Sept for the last five years and have only had rain once during my trips. That was a short 30 minute shower about three years ago. We just stood under one of the eaves at a store in Germany. My husband drank his German beer and I ate a chocolate/caramel cashew cluster. By the time we'd finished, the rain had stopped. I've taken ponchos alot of trips and never used them, so no longer even carry them.

If it's hot and muggy, I like to run in the rain - when we were down there last summer in late July, we had quite a bit of rain (serious downpours) but it usually felt pretty nice after sweltering in the heat. I just don't like a cold rain. We used our ponchos a lot last summer. I will probably pack them JUST to be safe.

I go every September and oh yes, hot, muggy & rain -- occasionally a little hurricane might even cross over Orlando But here's my experience for what it's worth. When we were there last June, a huge storm kicked up and we pulled out our little pocket cheapo ponchos....which had no structure to them and just blew around so much the end result was if we didn't wear them at all. I still have WDW ponchos from 2000 and just roll them tight with a band around it and stick it in the backpack ONLY when the weather predicts the day is most rain. Otherwise ... we just get wet or duck into a store or attraction because I hate dragging around backpacks!
