I want to buy the disposable kind.

What rides would you reccommend you have a poncho on?

We don't care if we get a little wet, just don't want to get soaked!

Then I will have a few for thunderstorms.

They are $1.00 a piece here, unfortunately I can't get them 2 for $1 like you Americans!! :teeth:

Any advice would be great, thanks! :thumbsup2

We just returned from WDW, where it rained several times on us. I had originally bought some ponchos at Walmart that were around $4 and reusable. I also had 2 disposable ponchos (I found 2 in a pack for $1, but they only had one pack and they never got restocked...)

Anyways, I put all of these in our checked luggage at the airport, so when we arrived we didn't have that luggage (used Magical Express). We went to Animal Kingdom where it rained for 1.5 hours before we ever got out from under the bus stop. The first thing we did was buy 2 of the Disney ponchos ($7 each).

These were great, lightweight but reusable, and now I have a souvenior from the parks. I never took the $4 ones from Walmart out of the package, so I'll be returning those. These were a little more money, but they worked out so well, and if we ever get to return to WDW, we'll take them with us, but in our carry on's this time!!

As far as rides, since we had worn them around pretty much all day at Animal Kingdom, we put them on when we got on Kali River Rapids. I swore I would NEVER do this, as I think it's kind of dorky on a water ride, but DH thought it was a good idea.... well guess what?? We were the only two in the boat that got drenched... so I would suggest no ponchos :) Just my opinion!

Those flimsy $1 ponchos are remarkably sturdy! I have hung them up to dry and reused them over & over by tightly rolling them and putting them into a sandwich size ziplock bag.

I use them on Kali at AK, Splash in MK and of course if it rains.

Also if the Disney ones rip you just take them to any store that sells them and get them replaced.

We have used the disposable ones many times over. I keep a sandwich type ziplock bag in my fanny pack and roll up the poncho into that bag.
Kali River rapids has always soaked us if we did not wear our poncho, sometimes Splash mountian does too depending on where we get stuck...
Last trip we used only one poncho for the whole 7 days, couple of rain storms and on the wet rides. worked well. I would pack 2 per person incase the first got ripped or torn.

I would definitely get ponchos before leaving home. They're something like $7 or more at Disney and they tear really easily. Shoot, half the time you'll probably forget to bring them since it's a little bit of an inconvenience. If the rain starts falling just slip into a shop or restaurant for a while, just my opinion.

Albertan mom, I bought half a dozen ponchos for each of us as we are going to be there 20 days. I figure it is not likely to rain more than that and if it does I will have a car to go to the nearest Wal Mart. Of course, if it rains more than that I might need to buy a boat too. :rotfl:

If there are any left over we can always use them next trip. I keep all my Disney stuff in one suitcase so we are always ready to go. :thumbsup2

I do not ride many of the more interesting rides so I cannot really give you a list of wet rides. The one at AK comes to mind, Kali Rapids. Splash Mountain at MK? When it is hot I would like a good dunking.

Have fun and I hope it does not rain on your parade. :cheer2:
