How many points do most people have?

210 OKW Point! I do the rent/trade board when I need extra points for Family reunions etc.

400 BLT points (two 200 point contracts). We usually get a 1br and go 2-3 times a year.

We bought 150 BLT with inheritance $ but we totally need more. We love the space and like stated above, would love to share the fun! I also want to visit more than my every other year we do now...Even small weekends with 1 kid or just my dh. Now that the family is getting older and expansion is in the future it just makes sense. Plus my daughter has been planning her sweet 16 there with a couple of friends since she we first bough our contract (2013) She is only 12 mind you now!:flower:

I spoke with a guide at the poly--- and he said most people who purchase end up eventually with between 300 and 450.

I had to have 550 so I could be above average.

Bought 175 BCV from disney pre opening-- then bought 100 BWV from disney in a special offer--- Then bought 175 SSR pre opening for the extended contract life, and recently bought 100 AKV resale to be able to stay in club level. Just need about 100 to 150 BLT and I will be happy.

We currently have 310. At some point, we will by 110 more so we can split them evenly between the kids. (1 contract is 210 and the other is 100).

Wow. I used to be quietly proud of my (apparently piddly) 435 points (AK and BLT) until I read this thread. :D

I've always wanted 115-165 more, but DANG!

When I bought in 1993, the minimum purchase was 230 points as I recall. We started with 240 points and quickly added on another 30 points would have ensured us a 2 bdrm exchange through II if we wanted. After moving to FL, I added on a few more at OKW and then another 160 at Vero Beach (love Vero, and bought enough for a couple of nights in a Beach Cottage in summer, but OUCH, those maintenance fees!). All told, I have just under 500 points and LOVE, LOVE my membership. It has allowed us to do things we never could have done without it.

We have 230, which was the minimum when purchased through Disney in 1992. We have briefly considered purchasing additional points, but have never done so. We budget our points pretty efficiently (no Friday/Saturday night stays! o_O) and we generally try to book travel for less crowded periods and we've often been able to visit two (and a few times, 3) times a year, mostly staying at OKW, but we've ventured to other DVC properties as well. I must admit I am not as apt to book studios as I was when I was younger (the larger units have spoiled me, I guess). We love DVC and especially our home resort.

We have 300 at AKL and 250 at BWV. The goal is to get another 125 for BLT and 175-200 for VWL and then we are definitely done!!! We will rent out any unused points to cover MFs, but we really want the booking advantage for those four specific resorts. Not in a rush for BLT and VWL, so we are waiting for a great deal to come along (we really got spoiled with fully loaded contracts for our existing two!).

My big wait is for the next recession. Having a pretty secure job allows me to take advantage of falling prices during times like those. Just saving, sitting back and waiting

I would guess that most own what ever the direct sales minimum was at the time they bought. 160 was a popular number and based on posts here on the DIS, standard view studios are really popular.

300 VWL bought in 2000
60 OKW bought in 2008 (resale)
