Just realized this will be the first time we have every been to disney with out a "caravan" of people ( largest group ;parts of 5 different families, about 20 people in all but usually our family and another family). have noticed from a number of posts others must go enmass also?
what has been your experience?? Just wondering if we are the odd balls ! kind of looking forward to not having to go on stuff other people want to ( hehe)!

Just our family of 5 - me, DH, and 3 kids. Never had to coordinate a big group.

Usually solo for me, but always meet up with LOTS of folks from the DIS here. Lots of fun that is.

Me (42) and DD (21) go about every 3 months. DH comes along with us about once a year. Linda

My DH & I have gone by ourselves, but usually we are a total of 4 or more! We have never been able to go with all 6 of us (our 2 kids & his 2 kids from his 1st marriage). We have also gone with my brother & his oldest daughter. This year we are a total of at least 9 going. DH, myself, DD, DS, BIL, my brother, SIL & their 2 DD's. We are going down in 2 vans, & it is our first time driving down to WDW. I can't wait, it is our 1st time @WDW during the holidays! I just wish we could be there for Christmas Day, but that is something will have to save for another year! Kathy ;)

Just me and wonderful DH! The biggest group I had was back in 2000 when I took my sister, her 3 daughters and our mom, so it was 6 of us! Worked out nicely on rides though...even with the then 2 year old::yes::

usually just our family of 5 people, but next trip it will just be me, my sister, and my daughter. it will probably seem only needing to get 3 people ready in the morning!

Just the two of us. But we did take my sister in 2001, and she is going again with us this year. :teeth:

It was just two of us (me and DBF) last time, and it was great! I don't if I could go with a group again, unles they were all as into DW as I am. This trip, we're taking a friend, and since it's just one, I'm looking forward to showing him around! I think we're going to have to take people one at a tie... that means more trips for us!

Usually just the 3 of us go (me, Dh & DS (10)). However, our next trip (just days away:bounce: ) we are taking 9 other people. So we will be 12 in all (9 adults and 3 kids). The best part (I think:confused: ) is that all 9 are newbies. Well my parents were there once in 1976 when it was just MK. I consider them newbies along w/ the others!!!! I'm really just hoping we are all still talking when it's time to go home:rolleyes:

So far, I enjoy traveling with a large group. In 2001 I went with my two boys, my mom, my dear friend jiggerj, her two daughters, and her son. Eight of us in all. We had a blast! Jiggerj and I planned this trip for over a year and it was (almost) perfect! I am really looking forward to planning another trip with them in the near future.

My next trip in December will be me, my two sons, my mom, my SIL, my nephew and my niece. They are all newbies so it should be a lot of fun. The planning, however, has fallen on my shoulders (but that's okay.....I love it!). We will be there for 11 days so I am just hoping that my planning works out well and everyone get along! I would like this trip to be special because it will be my moms first time going away with ALL of her grandchildren!

Our largest group was 14. Our group size is usually about 8-10 people when we travel with other families. We like to meet up for lunch and dinner and occasionally we will go on a ride together--this is easiest accomplished by getting FPes-it is just too hard to get together in the regular line--especially if it is busy and lots of folks are entering the lines. Otherwise, it is a lot easier to split up into different groups based on age and ride interest. (Splitting up is especially good if the children's ages range from toddler to teen.) Having walkie-talkies is very helpful to keep tabs on everyone (however, they don't work very well inside rides and the range is limited to within a park). Lately, we have found that cell phones are pretty good for keeping in touch. We may have to leave a voice mail because someone is on a ride and the cell phone is turned off, but then when they get off the ride, they can listen to the message.

Another really cool thing to do with your group is an Illuminations Cruise. (You would need two boats! :) )
It takes some extra planning, but I think it is worth it-we have lots of wonderful memories of trips with friends and family.
Good luck!

On 2 occasions, it was just DH and myself. One time, my mom, dad, brother, brother's girlfriend, aunt, uncle, and 2 cousins joined us but they all stayed at the Vistana while we stayed at POR.

Now I have 2 boys and we will be traveling with them and both sets of grandparents. We are all staying at the Yacht Club and I have planned the entire week for all of us - not to much stress there (ha). We all are looking very forward to going in just over a week now.

New Year's eve 1999/2000 - 12 of us went. We committed to this trip in 1994, when I made ressies! Worked out fine, as some folks did their own things.

2002 - 10 of us - a DISASTER!!!!! People insisted on doing everything together but more times than not, one of the little ones couldn't go on this or that! DH still hasn't even looked at the pictures from that trip, brings back such bad memories. I even had a screaming match with my friend's husband right in the middle of AK!

Upcomig trip - me, DH, DD, and DS - ONLY!!! Can't wait! I'm sure we'll go again with other family members, but I am so looking forward to just being with the immediate family. Actually had to keep this trip a secret, because we have folks who just say, "Oh good! I'll come, too!"

It is usually just DH and I. Once we went with my cousin, her DH, and their son who was 4 at the time. It was fun. Did some things together, some not. A couple of years ago we met another couple at WDW. they stayed at FW and we stayed at DxL. That was fun. We'd hang out most days and evenings but also did things apart.
