How many of you use your points at resorts other than Disney?

I read that you can use your DVC points at resorts all over the world. Have any of you used your points this way? We are moving to Europe in 6 months. We probably won't do another WDW vacation till after we get back (3-4 years). :( I am thinking it would be best if we wait till we get back to get into Disney's VC. Any advice? The reason I asked about people using their points elsewhere, is because maybe it would pay off if we could use our points overseas.

DVC is a VERY expensive timeshare to use for trading out. You will find the point requirements for European stays to be very high to use regularly.

For most of us, Concierge collection and trading out is a small part of what we spend points on. For you, it may still be a good idea to get in at today's prices, you really don't close till next year because the resort won't open till then, add to that only another two or three years and the fact that you can banl a whole year of points, you may be able to get out of this with only one vacation trading out and have two full years of points for your first year back in the USA.

DVC prices only go up. This $10 credit is as good as its going to get and it is probably going to end soon.

Sounds like it may be a good plan.

We are staying at the Stein Eriksen Lodge in Park City, Utah next summer for five nights using points. We bought with the intention of going to WDW every 2 years but this is the first time we are using our points for a non- Disney resort. We have used points to stay at the Grand Californian at Disneyland and felt that it was worth every point. In my opinion, that is the value of DVC, you have so many options! Enjoy.
