How many of you feel this is still the best investment you've ever made?

I don't call it an investment, but I'm in a position of seeing it lose some value (not monetary but personal value) next year, so I'll see how it works out.

At the very least I may not need to borrow points so much.

I have a very stressful job and rarely get more than one day off per week (if I get that!) so DVC was the best investment in stress relief we ever made! We can enjoy at least one great vacation every year! Absolutely no regrets for us.

I never have and never will call DVC a financial investment - quite the opposite in fact. But as far as an investment in family and time - one of my best decisions with no regrets (other than what many always say, wished I had bought sooner).

Not an investment and I was a lot happier earlier on in my membership. Not so happy now and have sold off nearly half of my points. We'll see if I keep the ones I still have. I've had fun, though.

Our best investment is our Cape May house!

I have no regrets regarding the money we've put into DVC. We have been having marvelous vacations, and look forward to many more. Our DGC have been to WDW 3 times, and it's getting better each time we go. We're long distance grandparents, so someone travels no matter where we vacation.

I agree this is not an investment money wise but an investment in family time. We have heard and seen many ppl who have had "Buyers remorse" but not us its been money well spent.:cool1:

Even though we just bought in a few days ago I would say that it will be the best investment I will ever make because you cant put a price on spending time with your family in WDW :thumbsup2

DVC is not an investment. It's a prepaid vacation. It is a decision to prepay, at today's rates, the next several decades of Disney trips. I am still very happy to be a DVC member!

:worship:

I didn't invest in DVC. I invested in mutual funds and Disney Stock (which of course I helped out by spending money on my DVC:rotfl: ) An investment is something I expect a monetary return on. I expect that when I try to get rid of DVC it will be worthless.

I also REALIZE that because of my DVC membership I have actually spent MORE on Disney then I would have if I didn't own. I go more often requiring more tickets, more meals etc.... That's fine, but the truth is that it probably costs me money LOL!

We have yet to do our first trip "home" to SSR (in October 2008 having bought DVC in August 2007) but have already had so much pleasure from reading (and dreaming!) about future holidays whilst reading and chatting on the DIS boards - that I can't imagine we will regret it.

It works for us. It substantially increases the value we get from the money we spend on Disney holidays. It is not so good for non-Disney, which is why we also own MVCI (Marriott). We pay cash for Disney non-DVC (GC at DL, our 30th anniversary last month at GF, DCL cruises). We use the medium that best suits what we want.

Timesharing works well for some and for others it would be a horrible decision. Much of it depends on individual desires, priorities and circumstances.

DVC is flexible and generally well run. We live close enough now that we could just stay at home and commute every day of a vacation. We certainly make enough day-trips there now. But we bought into AKV when sales began which was after we relocated to Orlando. Staying on property is important enough for us to incur the premium pricing.

MVCI is not as flexible as DVC, but is equally well run and has locations that we enjoy.

To us this is, was and always will be the best investment in our family vacation time together we've ever made. We do not own any other timeshares, this is the one for us and for the way our family travels (DH won't fly :confused3 ), but me and the kids will, so this gives us all the options we'll need, but mostly - WDW is our favorite place to visit, and every place else we've ever gone - as much as we've enjoyed it - we're always looking to come back to WDW as much and as soon as possible. We couldn't have made a better choice for how to spend that money! God willing we'll always be healthy enough and finacially able enough to continue DVC vacations with our now college age children, and hopefully one day - our grandchildren.

We'd also like to see our kids start using it for visits with their friends (that's if I can give up those extra points that allow me to go with MY friends a couple of times a year!;) )

We have been a lot happier with our DVC "investment" than we have been with our Disney stock! If we had an extra $10,000 and had to choose between buying more DVC points or Disney stock, we'd choose DVC points. We enjoy our stress-free vacations to WDW with our without our grown-up kids.

Still. I have never regretted it for a second or second guessed myself. I doubt I ever will. I love my DVC!!!!

DVC is the best decision we've made outside of getting married and our house purchase. We still get to enjoy multiple vacations at WDW even though we went from two incomes to one after becoming members. I truly enjoy the time I spend there, and my wife enjoys the man she is with more - away from the job, happy, no stress ! It may not be an investment in increasing my financial portfolio but it most certainly increases my quality of life portfolio. :thumbsup2
