Dh and I were talking about some of the trips we want to take this year. We talked about how great it would be to not have to be at a park every waking moment and to just be able to relax. We do take breaks every day, but it would be fun to spend a whole morning or afternoon at the pool or just resting around the resort. Our next trip is in Jan. I highly doubt we will be using the pool (part of our reason for staying at PC). This trip is a "park" trip. Just DH and I will be doing the MK alone!!! I am looking forward to a bit warmer weather (we may go in May and Sept) and just being able to go at a slower pace. It may be that we just got back from five nights over Thanksgiving and are still recovering......

We avarage 4 trips a year for the last 9 years before that 1 or 2
times a year since 1982.ther wasn't always money to stay onsite back in the day.Now that we are able to we like to spend alot of time at our resort just breathing it in,we go to disney to relax most of the time we can handle 4 hours at a park before getting turned off by rude, pushing people screaming at their wifes husbands and children on their way to that magical vacation they have saved for.sorry i would much rather walk slow take in all the sights without their stress. So with each trip we have spent more time at the resorts boat rides downtown disney or going into the park for a parade.

I'm down there much more often than in the past and have discovered a whole new world outside of the Disney parks. Orlando offers so much to her visitors, not only in the various theme parks but also once you get 'off the beaten track'. With airboat rides, balloon adventures, Discovery Cove, Kayak tours, quirky attractions, great shopping and dining-- so much is on offer that it's truly a shame not to include one or two off site excursions during the course of your vacation.

Disney is my first 'love', but Orlando has won me over. With so much to discover I can't wait for my next trip to see what other hidden jewels I can find!

DH and I do. We find that we've been taking more advantage of the recreational opportunities (golf, mini-golf, bikes, boats, etc.) and visiting resorts the last few years. It makes for a much more enjoyable vacation than the woman I overheard in AK last trip. She was studying her map and telling her family "We have 4 more attractions to do in AK, then we'll be done." We also just relax at out resort more.

I just finished my 9th trip since 1993, however, it was my 5th solo trip. I'm 50 years old.

This year, WHILE I was in the AK, I decided that I won't do AK at all next year. I think I was bored with AK this year.

I still like to be in the parks everyday, but I find myself spending more time on a park bench watching other people. ( Getting older, I guess. ) I am losing the need to rush, rush, to see and do everything, although I still need my December solo visit. I scheduled parasailing for this year, but it was too windy, and I could not reschedule because I was going home the next day. Next year, I'll try to schedule that EARLY in the trip to give me some lee-way for bad weather.

So next year, I still want to stay on Disney property, but I want to do and see more of what is BEYOND the parks. Also, next year, I won't use my park hopper pass on the same day as MVMCP & save some money there.
Maybe I'll do DTD, and use the resort pool, and THEN go to MVMCP.

We ended up taking more down time this trip than during any of our past trips. This was due to 2 things: 1- the crowds (Jersey week, 'nuff said!) and 2 - our ds came down with a miserable cold.

We're DVC members, so we were fortunate to have a 1-bdrm villa at VWL to hang out in, rather than just a regular hotel room. We spent time in the villa, relaxing, watching TV, etc. (I even got in a great nap on the balcony one afternoon, LOL!) We ate a lot of meals there, too, rather than going out as much as usual. We also spent quite a bit of time at the pool -- especially the quiet pool. It was sooooo nice!!

We've been back for a month and a half and we're all still talking about how nice it was to just kick back a bit and not be park commandos!! :teeth:

Our next trip is 11 days, but we only bought 5 day PHP passes. Those five days will be all day (opening to close) park days. But the remaining 6 days will be spent at our resort (3 in over the 11 days), at least one day at TL or BB, checking out all the deluxe WDW resorts, Boggy Creek airboats, dinner theaters, mini golf, Cirque, DD, and even one day spent doing the Backstage Magic tour. We have never spent every day in the parks on any trip.
