How many of you bring a backpack?

I have carried a diaper bag in the past, but luckily I packed my son's backpack for this trip in case he wanted to carry it around. I ended up using it the whole trip. It was great. And I'm not a backpack person - never carried one before. When we went on a ride, I kept my wallet in my pocket and attached the backpack to the stroller - there were clasps on the side of mine. It was never touched.

I will be serving as a chaperone for a school band in April (150 kids). I need to pack a "band mom" kit to help out the kids if they need anything - I can think of a sewing kit, handi-wipes, pins, band-aides - but I need to know what others think. I have to be able to carry everything in a small pack and lug it all day. Ideas?

I would bring along a small first aid kit. You can get them at the dollar store, they have several size bandaids and some other things in a small plastic box. Then you can bring along a box of band-aids to keep in your room for refills. Maybe a list of all of the band members with vital info including allergies, medical info and emergency contacts. Either just a list or have the info on 3x5 index cards and put them in a plastic bag to protect them. I don't know how you are handling that sort of thing. And a pack of 100 index cards is about an inch thick.

My DH is the backback keeper. We have gone without but it is nice to have.

dont go to the parks without my backpack.
I take it on rides with me and keep it on the floor or seat.

Last trip if it didn't fit in my pocket, I didn't bring it.

I only carried ID and my room card.

We have always brought a backpack. We loop it through our feet if we all actually go on a ride.

Same here.

I actually found a really neat back pack. It is an insulated cooler bag on the bottom and a mesh bag on the top. It has the two shoulder straps (like a regular backpack) but it helps keep things cool and dry in the cooler bag portion and thing like hats or autograph books easily fit in the mesh part.

The best part is I got it at a Goodwill for $1!
