How many of you bring a backpack?

I always bring my Disney backpack. I bought it a few trips ago. It never gets in the way of ride even on RNR I just wrap it around my foot. It's nice if I buy little items and don't have to carry around bags all day.

DH and I always carry a backpack. We carry a water bottle, inhaler, camera, sunblock. It comes in handy for little purchases (some medium ones too :goodvibes ). I always end up carrying it, but I would rather not lose it!!

Does the backpack that only has one strap across the chest really feel lighter? I was thinking about getting one because they look more comfortable then a regular backpack. My only issue is would I be worrying if the way it is designed would leave sweat marks on the front of my shirt from the way it lays. We are going in June and it will be hot.

I think the kind you are describing is what I have. (look at my sig, you can see it--is that what you meant?) I went in May but it did not make me any warmer at all. I love my backpack & will carry it again.
I am short and don't like having the bulkiness of a fannypack around my waist. It makes me look bulky and it is hard to get things out of without spilling everything out. To each his own, for me a backpack works best!

I use to bring an average size backpack, now I just bring a small backpack/purse will the usual necessities (pens, autograph book, film, camera, small wallet, ticket, and park map). Makes it much easier and lighter! Found a cute one at Target for like $3!! :)

I always take my Mickey back pack. It's not a big deal, my dh and I swap out. On rides I just put my feet through the straps, never had a problem.

Yep! That's exactly what I was talking about- I dont want a fannypack to be in the way because I know I will be lifting and carrying a not so little girl much of the day. Thanks

Yep, that's exactly what DW has. It has a strap that unzips to form two shoulder straps, but it's not that big - but it does hold everything we need. We also keep some ziplocs in there, for camera, my wallet, etc. on water rides.

I've never had a problem with sweat marks. I think it feels lighter because of the way it sits. It doesn't seem to pull on one shoulder as much as having two straps does. It is also easier to just pull it around to the front of my body to get something out or when I sit down rather than have to pull it off. My backpack has been with me on my first Disney trip and on two carribean cruises and believe me when you are exausted and don't want to take it off because you are tired and all you want to do is sit down being able to pull it around you is nice.

We don't use a backpack, but I do carry one of those soft lunch boxes. We found one several years ago while in MK, a red one with Mickey's face on the front. It works great for holding a lot of stuff (wallet, tickets, camera, film, etc). I am sure that a small digital camcorder would fit inside. It is waterproof, so I don't worry about our stuff getting wet on any wet ride. Since there is only the two of us, it holds everything we need. I have used it at several theme parks, and I just love it!

Usually a small leather knapsack does the job with my Austin Powers head keychain since the bag is black

Since we always seem to go in January, we must bring a backpack for jackets, camera & camcorder. This is for me, DW and DD. Sometimes it fits in the strollers and sometimes not depending on the stroller however I always take it on rides with me and leave it between my legs during the ride.

I bought "sling packs" from LLBean for myself and my husband. They are small backpacks with one strap that goes across your body. Very easy to put on and off. They also have a pocket on the strap for a cell phone or sunglasses.

In the past I have just carried a small backpack purse, but DH kept putting his stuff in it and it didn't seem fair that I had to lug everything around. He couldn't wear it b/c his back was too broad for the straps.

Back when our son was 4 years old, I wore a large fanny pack and used it occasionally to hold my son on when he was tired and not in a stroller.

As the days wore on I finally realized why I was running to the restroom so much. His weight was pushing the fanny pack down onto my bladder! I kept the fanny pack on and moved him to a stroller! But it was so convenient to rest him on my pack sometimes!

When the whole family went last time, I made each one of my kids their own small backpack. That way they could carry their own water bottle, snacks, ponchos etc. No one complained that they were too heavy, and it was nice that I (the MOM) didn't have to tote everything for the whole gang.

Strapping them around our legs worked on the rides.

DH is the camera nut, and always has a small camera bag with him, I'm wondering if I even need my small backpack on our upcoming trip. Maybe he can just carry anything we'll need for the two of us. :sunny:

We used to use a backpack. Then, as dd got older we switched to fanny packs. That way, everyone has their own fanny pack. If you need/want it, you carry it. I have found that they really do feel better if they are turned to the back and actually do sit on your fanny. My back started aching with it in the front so I turned it around and my back was much better.

I used a backpack for a wallet, stroller rental receipts, wet wipes, ponchos, chapstick and sunscreen, autograph book and Epcot passport. It came in very handy and I had no trouble with it on any of the rides. It didn't hold my camera though- that stayed in my pocket most of the time because I was always whipping it out to snap pictures! I kept the ticket and room keys on a lanyard around my neck. (Each person in my party had one, even my DS5). It looked dorky, but it was very handy for getting fast passes and EMH bracelets. (Got the lanyards free at a conference.)

I bring a small backpack. My daughter, sister, and mother don't like to bring things to carry so I usually have plenty of room for their extras. My sister's camera case holds everything she needs except purchases. So one backpack for four should be plenty unless you are there when you need jackets. I keep it at my feet. I have a pocket-size thin poncho to keep things dry on wet rides.

I will be serving as a chaperone for a school band in April (150 kids). I need to pack a "band mom" kit to help out the kids if they need anything - I can think of a sewing kit, handi-wipes, pins, band-aides - but I need to know what others think. I have to be able to carry everything in a small pack and lug it all day. Ideas?

We definitely bring a backpack when we go. DH and I take turns carrying it. Its not heavy, just sweatshirts, couple of waterbottles and snacks. I also have a purse that looks like a small version of a backpack, and its big enough to carry my things, plus camera, maps, phones etc. :flower:
