So glad you joined us here!
Another lady of great taste and class!

Since discovering WDW concierge, I have started staying concierge at other hotels in my travels.
Since I own a high-end boutique, I am always going to LA, NY, Dallas, Atlanta, Las Vegas, for markets....and I have become
quite spoiled by other hotel's concierges, as well.
Westin and Hyatt, are wonderful, as well as Wyndham and Loews.

The best part about traveling frequently, as you already know, is that they remember you as a past, and frequent guest, and
the upgrades and pampering begin.

I have to admit, I love it!

And I have always enjoyed reading all your adventurous travel reports here on the DIS!
Please keep them coming!
They are absolutely wonderful !
::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

 Okay how is it possible to have the bug yet have never stayed CL???

:listen: My ds who is 9 is begging to stay CL our next trip to either WDW or DL(the kid has good taste!

I have been dying to stay CL but it seems like our trips to DL are always spur of the moment, which leaves me less time to save and/or during the busier times where there is no AP rates.

My son and I looked at your pictures Janet2K and now we want CL more than ever!!!!:hyper: ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

Thanks for the kind words! I'm delighted you enjoy my posts. ::yes:: I "frequent" high-end boutiques...and LOVE them! I should have known someone as talented as you would have such a venue at her fingertips! I wish you great (continued) success with your business. ;)

Oh, Vegas resorts offer some WONDERFUL CL service. After trying numerous properties in Sin City, I'm hooked on the MGM Grand CL. We do not travel there often, even though it's only a 4~hour drive from home. Yet, when we do go...we always reserve the MGM "Penthouse C" suite, on the 29th floor. It's a little 3000+ SF, 2~story (w/personal elevator), 2BR/2BA Butler suite. The Concierge is astounding, and the services they offer incredible. All the MGM headliners stay on this floor, and during the most recent visit we met Mick Jagger and Andie McDowell (both gracious and friendly). We missed Ben Affleck by an hour (LOL). It's a fabulous place...one you should try if you have the opportunity.

LA & NY offer some of the "finest" resort CL services as well. Of course, CL always seems more FUN and light~hearted in the DISNEY environment. We enjoyed the CL of the CR (14th floor) last summer for a 5~eve stint. We could have stayed indefinitely, as everything was "perfect", and the MAGIC in Full-Force! The PBH just began their CL service again. When they initially opened, we stayed CL/Butler in a nice suite overlooking the Bay. The service was top~rate & memorable. After they dropped the staff, we continued to visit, but tried other rooms/suites (kid's suites are so adorable). We went back to the Villa Butler Bay suite two years ago...and stayed (even w/o CL)! We reserve the same exact suite, and will be there again this summer w/CL once again in service! :hyper:

The Peabody also offers a wonderful CL, and we always stay there on our initial eve in Orlando. We enjoy the memorable "DUCK MARCH", the 5* service, and the entire resort theme/staff. The CL is so quaint, with little nooks and crannies, tables set on stair landings, etc. The fare is ample (mmmm...turkey wrap is delectable), and CL associates so sincere and accomodating. We also enjoy the view of the Sea world Fireworks from our CL suite window...a nice way to break~in our summer vacation! I'm picturing it now, and dreaming of summer. :sunny:

I'm so pleased to read the many positive things posted in reference to CL experiences, and the reasoning behind the decision to reserve this type of service.

dsnylndmom~I hope you are able to stay CL on your next visit! Your DS defintitely has an inherent trait for the finer things in life. ::yes:: Try CL at DL...it's FAB! If you travel "spur of the moment", please be sure to inquire about CL services at the desk upon check-in. Some posters have noted being offered reduced CL rates when they ask at the front desk, and others have actually been upgraded at no additional charge! It's all a matter of luck. Here's to your GOOD FORTUNE! Be sure to post after you stay, and let us all know what you think. Enjoy. :goodvibes:

TTFN....DF99 :wave2:

We too started in the Grand Plan, GF. Rooms were luxurious, attendants wonderful. They stepped over each other to help. The private lounges in the evening, afternoon tea, wine and cheese.... the turn-down gifts...oh, just salivating again with memories. Can't wait for out next visit to BWI conceirge in 6 weeks.
The used to really spoil you with no limits on snacks or room service meals. It really was decadent.
Last time we stayed conceirge was 4 years ago. Some definate changes were experienced. We've since learned they've stepped things up again. Report will follow the trip.

I TOO, have been bitten by the concierge bug. And what's worse is, that it is NOT limited to Disney stays.

After visiting Disney since it opened, I decided that in XMAS 2002 I would stay at the GREATEST hotel onsite (the GF) and that it would be the most luxorious I could get and I'd stay for a month (29 days to be exact) (I had just won a huge award so I could afford it). SO I booked the GF concierge on the Grand Plan and had the time of my life!

Now I ONLY stay at concierge at WDW and elsewhere.

The small problem is, I am taking my brother and his girlfriend to New York this summer and they want to stay at The Plaza. So I have to find out about concierge suites there.

Next week I'll be at BW concierge AND AKL concierge (I'm taking my 15yo niece) and I've booked the sunrise safari, WHOOPEE!!

I have to ask... after looking at the link to all ears...how in the world do you all afford the concierge level so often? I read they don't give many, if any, discounts on these rooms. You must all be very rich and skinny! But you must be having a great time! I only dream of trying concierge one day.

Keep having fun, so we who have to live vicariously, can dream!

Got a great rate (code) for our stay in April!
We also found that at Disneyland, the room costs seem
to be substantially less than WDW (last Oct) and we had
a buy 3 and get the 4th night free deal.

As far as affording the stays at conceirge, it is pricey...ok..ok...damn expensive compared to past rates charged. But I work very very hard to be able to afford such luxuries and spoil my wife. The reaction I get from just the planning of the trip is worth the 4 years of effort leading up to it. I'll let you know the benefits of the actual stay in the adult oriented disney boards. ;)

As far as the Plaza goes, be prepared. You MUST stay for Sunday brunch in the Oak Court. We threw a family holiday party there for 22 people as our gift for them at xmas. There is no equal to this brunch. Its really over the top. Don't eat for 24 hours before you get there. I you do you'll be sorry that your stomach doesn't have the capacity to follow your mouth's desire for the selections. Be prepared to pay big time for the room, especially the suites. I can afford a good many things, but a 4 day stay in a suite there is a couple weeks salary for me. I've always wanted to mimic walter mathauw in Laughter on the 23rd floor, but that's for when I retire. :)

Those rats at Room Control upgraded us to a Royal Palm Club honeymoon room during our wedding trip, and now we're shelling out $600/night for the same room during our next stay! Those CM's know what they're doing when they sprinkle that addictive pixie dust around princess:
Cheers!

Heather...think we should start a 12-step program?:teeth:

As for the Plaza, if you've never been there, it's beautiful and the suites are wonderful. As expected, the concierge service is amazing and can arrange anything. The rates actually aren't THAT bad considering you're in Manhattan. I think that the Ritz-Carlton is nicer, though.

Doggone it. I had to do it. I had to open this dang thread again. Shame on me. It seems that I will never learn. ;)

Seriously, you folks are so very funny! I got a kick out of the recent posts. But I will now have to shut down my computer because my drool is beginning to short-circuit things and I’m smelling that awful burned-insulation kind of smell that is associated with anything electronic that cannot take moisture. When I figure out how to drool moisture-free, I will be back…

One should not have to "drool" over the recent posts. For the life of me - I can't understand why anyone would.......? Please explain.

I've booked The Plaza Central Park View - 2 bedrooms and a butler. Wait, that didn't come out right, but I think you understand. The next question is, what play to see. I know I have to see "The Lion King," but I'm afraid I am in the minority. My borther and friend want to see The Producers. Argh! What's a Disney lover to do?

LK was wonderful. Never got a chance to do the Producers though, that being only 45 minutes from manhattan.

Drool....I just cover the lapT in plastic wrap when reading this thread. I am soooo jealous of some that have posted here. I can't even imagine what it'd be like to stay at the GF for 30 days!!!!!! Or be able to visit every year for that matter.

So, with 41 days til arrival, I'm getting very excited.

I'll be honest about the 30-day trip in 2002. I went at XMAS because I wanted to see everything all decorated for the holidays. And I went for that long a time frame because I wanted to do all the "things", the "other" stuff that I never seem to be able to do when I stay for 10 days or so. What I didn't count on was the strange weather. It snowed (real snow) one night, was 80 degrees one morning and the temp dropped to 45 degrees by the afternoon and it rained. BOY did it rain! Figuring out what to wear was equally a pain in the neck.

Thus, with all the funky weather, I got sick. I was drooling for a whole other reason.... For 8 days I lived in my suite. But to GF's benefit thay called a doctor who actually made house calls and they periodically checked up on me to make sure I was taking the medicine and drinking LOTS of fluids.

All- in - all, I only went on 5 rides in 30 days. But I did spend a LOT of time in the Spa and doing sports-stuff. SO I guess it balanced out. This time, I'm going to gather my courage and go on each and EVERY ride - including Mission to Mars:earseek:

As for going every year - I like Walt's quote the best "If you can dream it - you can do it!."

I hate when trips turn out that way, sick and confined. The staff at GF are truly caring and attentive (in general). Personally, best resort we've stayed in has been the Greenbrier (WV). Though for all its pomp and circumstance, I'm still a dis'er at heart.

I haven't had the pleasure of staying at the Greenbrier yet, although I have been wanting to for a while.

Perhaps after The Plaza, I'll head up there for R&R. It's only about 90 minutes from where I live, so that isn't bad.

Please send a trip report of your stay. I'd like to live vicariously for a while to temper the building anticipation of our upcomming trip.
Have you stayed in the BWI? That's where we're planned for. I'd love to know how that rates when compared to GF.

When I opened the mail box last night, I found a big white envelope with a WDW return address. It was our concierge package from AKL!!! owwwww! The bug was biting me hard!

We have stayed concierge in other hotels, but never at WDW. I am so excited I can't stand it! I have looked thru the package a zillion times! It is so nice to have a resort map and newsletter ahead of time.

I have a recommendation for those among the "bitten":teeth: ...... the Grove Park Inn in Asheville, NC is wonderful! Huge rooms with big windows to see the beautiful mountain views, wonderful food, friendly staff, and a great city to visit.

I just booked our Easter vacation airfare and will have to redo all of our reservations due to the fact they don't really match up with our days. DS and I LOVED AKL concierge, but Poly has always interested me, despite the mold stories and I think it looks like a Brady Bunch reunion. Anyone have the price for the AP con. rate for the Poly? We would only be there seven days, but I am afraid If I don't spend some time at AKL I will really miss my ankole cattle family! Two trips, one room apart, has had me feeling like I KNOW the cattle personally! DS and I loved the sunrise safari, perhaps DH and I could partake in the sunset safari!

I still have partial Dolphin reservations that would work for my dates..... OH, what is a Disney Lover to do?

Debbie

PS This concierge thing is much more addictive than I originally had thought! Last night I had a dream about wine and african crisps!
