Are the AKL concierge rooms the deluxe rooms that sleep 5, or are they the standard rooms that sleep only 4? Also, do all of the concierge rooms have a savannah view?

They are ALL deluxe rooms, usually on the 5th floor, with a roomcard access to the 6th floor lounge!

We've been on the 6th floor also, same large deluxe rooms, just not quite as same savannah view! More of a overview of the whole lodge and pool area!
Could still see alot of animals though!

If, you want the 5th floor, savannah view, just make your request known, and they will more than likely give it to you.

The 6th floor trip was for my DH and me...nice to put on your robe and get a hot latte within a few yards!;)

Anyone else been bitten ?

My room request for May at AKL C. is "sixth floor, sixth floor, sixth floor"! Granted the savannah view is not as nice as some 5th floor rooms--I called our view the ugly savannah (sunset). But for all the time spent on the balcony it was fine. Would do a Chevy Chase finally looking at the Grand Canyon bit in the morning. (form the movie Vacation) About a 2 count and then we were off.

But the LOUNGE....AAHHH. That is my gold standard that I'll judge all others by. I want to do my family room just like it.

Have fun everyone. It is infectious.

Too funny - this thread. My DH and I talk about it all the time. We used to say that we would never pay that much for a room. Then we did it ONE time - started at the GF RPC. ONE NIGHT!!!!

We have talked about how we are now hooked and are admitting it for once this year.

We were bumped up at the Contemporary a few times due to various problems with our room and sorta tasted the difference.

But after staying at the GF in the main building, I do not see myself staying in the outer buildings ever.

This trip - as usual - we start out at the Contemporary in a regular room in the tower.

We already changed the reservations to Tower Club.......we just like to fool ourselves during the year and make pretend we are going to be practical....

Then, when the time gets closer DH starts calling for the discounts. Last year we got a Honeymoon room at the GF RPC for $450 a night. The view was so overwhelming. From every angle - windows surrounded this entire room. You could lay in bed and stare at the castle and watch it turn colors - or during the day watch the monorail run in front of it. To the right you could watch the electric water parade, etc.

At first we stayed at the AKL Concierge so we could do the Sunrise Safari and that seemed like such a bargain at $257 - but that was Dec 2-4. Not sure of the AP rates other times of the year.

My DD stays at the GF in the Sugar Loaf - the annual pass on that room is same as the AKL Concierge and she loves it.

So - YES - WE ADMIT IT - WE ARE SPOILED AND IT IS HARD GOING BACK!!!! And we know it is crazy.

But like you - I work way too hard all year so we do make it the mother of all vacations each time now.princess:

We have also been bitten! We've been to WDW 9 times, we stayed at Poly, POFQ, WL, GF (never concierge) and off site. Our last trip was this past August and we chose CBR, we had many problems our first day and paid to move the Contemporary. We were offered a tower room on the 12th floor (concierge lite). Well....it was fabulous, Al in Concierge was wonderful:Pinkbounc ! My DS and I are returning in March, staying at Poly, but this time I could not even think of not getting concierge ;) ! So, Poly Concierge, here we come:wave: We've been bitten bad

We just returned last Sunday night from a month-long WDW trip. I haven't yet had the energy to post anything about our trip--too much info!!!:D However I will post here about our week at the Poly in a GV concierge room. It was wonderful, and saved my sanity!

My 5 kids and I drove down and checked into the Poly on Sunday 12/21; dh had to work and would fly down to join us on the 27th. Since my youngest is just 1 yr. old, the kids and I were able to stay in one room. (AP rate $239 + tax). A stretch for our budget, especially with the length of our trip, but I'm so thankful we were there! My 2 youngest children (1 & 3) became ill with high fevers, severe coughs & vomiting during the 1st night there, so I was confined to the hotel room with them for the 1st 4 days of our trip. I ended up taking them to the ER Monday evening~influenza. We were in the 1st room (1534 I think) down the hall from concierge check-in desks, so it was a very quick trip up to the lounge. I was able to run up to get juice/ginger ale, etc. for the sick kids very easily throughout the day.

When I decided the kids needed to be seen by a doctor, the lady at the concierge desk (wish I could remember her name, but I'm terrible that way) helped me find a provider that accepted my insurance, made lots of calls, arranged a babysitter to come to the room to watch my 7 yr. old twins (dd15 went with me to the ER to help me with the little ones), was so helpful and supportive--I don't know how I would have done it without her.

Luckily, being on the monorail and right next to the TTC, I allowed my 15 yr. old dd to take the twins to MK or Epcot during the "sick days". I can only imagine how much more miserable everyone would have been had we been off-property or even off the monorail and EVERYONE would have been confined to the room. I was reluctant enough to allow my teen to take the twins alone by monorail; I think I would have been too nervous if they had to find and catch busses. She took my cell phone, so I was able to stay in contact with them thru-out the day, and she was able to charge their lunch/snacks to the room key.

I kept thinking that if we had been in a Days Inn or something, it would have been a living hell. I don't know how we would have even been able to obtain *food* if that had been the case! My little ones were *SOOO* sick, we never could have gone out to eat. The concierge staff were wonderful--gave me bottles of water and packages of crackers to take to the room for the kids, always offering to help. The evening wine and cheese service was plenty for my other kids and me for dinner with the pbj sandwiches, fruit, cheese & crackers, and whatever the hot item was that eve. And, believe me, I greatly appreciated a glass or 2 of Bailey's each evening after taking care of sick children all day!

We did all venture on on Wed. morning (Christmas eve morning) because we had a coveted PS for Cinderella's breakfast and both kids fevers were down for the moment, and the 3 yr old really wanted to go. It was a blessedly easy and fast trip by monorail, and the food was the 1st real food my 3 yr old had eaten in 2 days! The meal really wore them out though, so we returned to the room immediatly after so they could go back to bed. It was great to get out for a short time though! By Christmas day, they seemed to be feeling a little better, so we went for a mid-afternoon Christmas dinner at WCC at the WL, followed by a lovely horse-drawn "sleigh" ride. We took things very easy the next few days, and by the time we checked out on Sat. the 27th and picked up dh at the airport, they were both much better. Still, they tired easily for another week after that. I'm happy to report that they are completely recovered now, but I've never seen them as sick as they were those first few days at the Poly!

Of course, nobody *plans* on having sick kids at WDW, but it happens all the time, and being in concierge sure made it bearable! Something to think about when weighing the pros and cons of the extra expense.

Every resort we stay at, we stay concierge whether in WDW or outside of it (though sometimes I forget there is anywhere else). It's almost like having an insurance policy that if a problem occurs, it will be taken care of. This peace of mind, coupled with all of the wonderful benefits is well worth the extra money. And the Innkeeper's Club at the BWI is truly amazing!

Tell me more!! First WDW YC concierge stay in
April!! Stayed at the Grand Cali Concierge in DLR in
October for 10 days and got hooked. I can't admit it
to anyone in the family-they think I'm nuts!! Tell me
about YC Concierge-we got an excellent special so staying
all 9 days.

Decided to go back to WDW July 7th thru 14th for one more trip out of our AP's. We were going to stay at PC, because we are doing the cruise in November. Then a freinds daughter is tagging along, so how about POR? Then my husband says he really enjoyed the Hard Rock Hotel Club level we stayed at last year, lets stay there! I said they have concierge in Disney and then we don't have to rent a car. So as of now we are at the Poly Concierge! I guess I will have to work some more Sundays!!:earseek:

It is very difficult to stay anywhere but concierge now!! I have stayed at the Poly, YC, BC and BWI. I go every March for a girls only trip and last year we were at the BWI concierge. I returned in Oct. with my husband, son,daughter-in-law and granddaughter. The "girls" had already decided on the Swan for March, money issues for some. Well, I called one of the girls from the BW and said, I just couldn't go to the Swan in March. She agreed and we will be back at the BWI concierge in March. Two others have decided to join us and 3 will be at the Swan. I love the Innkeepers Club and just can't stay anywhere else now. The cast there is the best on property!:hyper:

REquested info for mom rules....

Click here for YC Concierge reviews on "Our Laughing Place"!
Click here for "Allears" concierge reviews!
And click here for a room layout of the fifth floor where YC concierge is located!

Hope this helps....we were in YC room #5185, nice water view, had a KING bed with a daybed.

{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}} to you, momtotwinglesx4!
What a way to experience concierge!
Hope next time is more magical!
But, you did show that concierge is THERE for you,
just that more attentiveness!

Travis, at the YC concierge, was great, always there with my COLD bottled water for me whenever I came up from my massages.
They just know how to totally pamper you!

But, like I said before, each one of the WDW concierges has there
"star" CMs, who are truely Magical in and out!

And KerryCM....you have really sparked my interest in the BWI
"Innkeepers Club"!::yes::

Anyone else with special memories of how they were "bitten" by the concierge "bug"?

We have stayed at WL many times in the regular rooms. So when we went in August 2003, I wanted to make our WL experience extra special.

We splurged on the Concierge level and it was worth every penny.

Not only was the food good, but the Concierge team was really helpful with questions and priority seating reservations.

They even had a set of Wilderness Lodge Log Cabin pieces out for kids to build things. What a hit that was.

Now, my husband asked if we were going to "upgrade" our stay next time. I guess he's been bitten by the "bug".

Better start saving now..............

Bugfella...welcome to our thread and.....

If you're not APers, I highly recommend it!
That helps us to be able to afford concierge!

If the hubby has been "bitten", then I see more concierge stays in your future!!!!::yes:: :teeth: :Pinkbounc

It happened on our third trip for our family. After my husband had been very sick with much time in the hospital intensive care unit, we decided we needed to treat the family! He was willing to go to WDW in a big way since he felt better. We did the Grand plan at the Contemporary for the last week in December. This plan allowed us to use the 14th floor concierge lounge and stay in the tower. That started me off.

Since then I've discovered this great place the DIS. Now I book room only with discounts! I have dragged family or friend to Wilderness Lodge concierge, YC concierge, Contemporary Club, and soon BWI concierge. The only regret is the BWI was only available for two of the nights and I have to move to a water view the last night at the BWI.

Yes it is a sickness, and very addictive!

Thank you for the warm welcome BambiTamby!

It was by reading the Resort forum last summer that I learned about the WL concierge.

Thanks for the AP tip. We'll consider that when we plan our next vacation.

One time we were in the same dilema at the Poly!
Our whole trip was booked concierge, except for the last night!
We were going to have to move the last night to lagoon view.

Well, when we checked in, we explained to the CM what our problem was...
well, our CM did a little "magic" and kept us in our concierge room the whole stay!

So, you never know when a last minute concierge room will become available!

I can hope for the "magic" to stay in the concierge room. I tried again today and still nothing for the 15th, but I got the night of the 19th so I can go back for one night after the conference. See how addicted I am....

I know just what you mean, BT. I have been bitten as well. It all started so innocently. My first concierge experience was a splurge at the Poly lagoon view concierge. Woo Hoo! It was fantastic, and I was hooked. I have gone back to WDW and "managed" to stay non-concierge twice ;) but the majority of my trips have been concierge. I truly love the extra pampering, the lounge, and of course the yummy food. The pre-planning assistance is great too--I don't want to have to get up at 7 am to make priority seatings, LOL! So far I've done Poly concierge (twice), YC concierge, BWI concierge, and GF RPC concierge. They were all great, and now we're looking forward to trying AKL concierge and doing the Poly again on our next trip. ::yes::

So glad you joined our thread!
You are, in my book, one of the DIS Concierge Queens!princess:
(I need to make a queen smilie, LOL!);)

But, as you said.....
It all started so innocently.

That is how it always starts!:scratchin

I'm thinking of re- booking that GF RPC trip, I had to cancel last year, due to illness!

Do you agree it is the "mother" of all the other WDW conceirges, or do they all have their own personality and magic?:earsgirl:

I notice that several of the resorts have more than one level of concierge. Is this just a difference in room location? Thanks! :sunny:
