floridafam-I thought about you all afternoon, I am so happy to hear things turned out well!
steveanddonna-what a sweet story, we will have to watch for Stan the monorail driver in June.
The last time we visited Disney, we stayed at CBR and a cm came up to my son and told him that he had found some "real pirates gold" at the CBR and that he should be watching for it while we walked along the beach, Chris is 12 now, but he still has that piece of "pirates gold" the cm gave him (some sort of resort commemorative coin) I wonder if they realize that when they do little things like that how long the memory lasts. That coin is locked in a box on a shelf with his most treasured possessions.
It snowed here today too, I like to think of it as pixie dust floridafam, good idea.

Howdy Callmekel & Blowinbubbles!

Floridafam - YEAH for the good news! I hope your little one is feeling better very soon. :sunny:

Steveanddonna - Truly remarkable story about Stan and your niece! Priceless, just priceless.

Tedmom - I don't know how to say "Have a great journey!" in a tribal language, but have a WONDERFUL time.

Goodferry - I agree, I don't know if the CMs realize the imprint they leave on the little ones' hearts either.

SNOW :confused3? This time of year it can only be pixie dust - LOL!

Happy evening to all you lizards out there! :wave2:

I wonder if they realize that when they do little things like that how long the memory lasts.
Exactly what we were thinking! After our experience w/Stan we decided that we would write an appreciation letter to Guest Communications whenever we had one of those magical experiences. People are so quick to write or call with complaints, we want the truly deserving CMs to get the acknowledgement they deserve. CMs like Stan probably don't even realize they're doing something special - it's just the way they are. We have also started bringing little business-card sized thank yous with us to give to CMs who do something nice right at the moment. We loved the response we got to them in March & have made up more for our May trip. They're very simple, just laid out on the computer & glued to some construction paper, but the CMs we gave them to seemed really appreciative to be appreciated.

steveanddonna...What a wonderful story and what a super idea about the cards!::yes::

floridafam...more  for you! So relieved to hear the good news as I was thinking about you all day, also.
Like dreamflight said....BE POSITIVE!!!

And you're going to WDW soon to see your wonderful DH participate in the half ironman!!!!
I know how proud you must be for him.
And you are so correct about the folks that frequent these events.
So down-to-earth, helpful, encouraging to each other.
I, too, know what you mean about being there for encouragement.

And, thanks for those links. DH will love reading about those, too.
Again...more {{{HUGS}}}} for you! :sunny:

dreamflight...so you have an athlete on your hands also!
DH improved his time last week by 7 minutes!
So excited, like a little boy when he crossed the finish line!

And TEDMOM....have a wonderful and safe trip!

When would you guys contact concierge about PS? 120 day mark, 90 day mark or now (170 days) to give them plenty of time? Thanks!

WoodysRoundup - You're gettin' closer and closer, girl!! I bet you're getting soooo excited!!;)

This thread is so great, everybody's so helpful, some of the other threads lately have seemed kind of critical! I've posted a few suggestions lately, and people have been really harsh! So glad to come back here!::yes::

Floridafam, just wanted to let you know how happy I am for you! There is nothing like the relief of hearing good news at the doctor's office!

Well, I've been playing around on the DisneyWorld booking website for the past few days. . .(Come on, you know y'all do it too!;) ).. . anyway this morning I plugged in Concierge in October, and was told that there were no results for my search! I'm thinking it's because of the Wine & Food Festival. . .but *sheesh*. . .does Concierge always book up that fast ahead of time?

I thought it would be neat to treat my mom to a week at Poly Concierge. . October would be especially great because the heat shouldn't be so bad (theoretically!)

I also plugged in for May (in a couple of weeks) and got availability for CL in AKL, but that's it.

Hmm. . I guess I could go ahead and book, then keep calling for cancellations?

Ann

blowinbubbles,

What concierge level were you checking? I know that WL Concierge seldom appears on the website. You have to call Disney directly. I have no idea why.

AKL CL usually appears online.

Contemporary 14th floor usually does not show in the online reservation system.

Hope this helps.

k&a&c'smom - I see what you mean......I think I popped in on that thread. The Grump syndrome must be going around - :p!

Welcome PatriciaH & sr688! You guys will really enjoy this thread!

Blowinbubbles - I don't feel the website gives all the options for CL. I would definitely get on the horn with them to see what they have for your travel dates. I've never seen WL CL show up for any dates I put in. It might be because of the limited number of CL rooms there. Definitely hang in there to get what you want! :teeth:

Hope everyone is enjoying their day thus far! :wave2:

blowinbubbles-I've been to Disney in Oct twice and both trips have been in the high 80's. In Oct 02 I stayed Poly LV CL and was 6 months pregnant. I was so grateful for the monorail back to the resort to take an afternoon A/C break and it was wonderful to have the afternoon snacks. This was a short notice trip and I had no problem getting a LV room with a GREAT room only discount. On a very positive note, we were there the week of Halloween (10/26-30) and the crowds weren't bad-less than 1st week of January this year.

Steveanddonna-thanks for the Stan story. I've got one to share about the baby center but I've got to get to work!!!!

ROTFLMAO!!!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Ann....You have found your new HOME here!!!!::yes::

Patricia H...WELCOME TO THE LIZARD LOUNGE!!!!!:bounce:

What CL are you staying and when?

Usually I call them and initiate the process.
If you booked by TA, sometimes the IPO doesn't have the correct contact number.

floridafam...Good morning!!!
And yes, you are right about WL CL seldom being online.
Go figure. Also, no suites, but they have the villas. LOL!

Just keep calling, calling, calling....

~*~FloridFam--I was looking at the Poly Concierge. Don't tell me there's different levels of Concierge!! Then I'll *really be confused! ;)

My oldest wants to stay at ALK, but I know my mom would enjoy Poly. . and my 71 y/o mom overrules my 9.5 y/o! :D

~*~VAgal76--I think you are right about calling vs. online. . .I had the same issue with Delta, when booking an overseas flight. Many more options were available when calling, go figure!

~*~lovesdumbo--Thanks for the tip on the temp in October! I've been wondering. . coz I *know* that my kids will want to swim! My son spent 1/2 his time in the pool at the Poly last week. . water was warm but when you got out it was *BRRRRRR!*

And a note. . .Just wondering. . do any of y'all have a problem with calling WDW just to get prices and availability, without booking? I mean we're calling on our dime anyway, but I hate to be a pest!

LOL, if I spent as much time trying to earn money for the trip as I do planning my next one, I'd be going a lot sooner! :earsgirl:

BambyTamby

Thanks for your message.I've been very busy and now that the weather up here is a little better, when I'm not working I'm golfing. Going right now as a matter of fact. I enjoyed the clippie. DW and I can't wait to leave for Disney two weeks from today, Polynesian concierge of course. I am looking forward to my first chocolate chip cookie as soon as we check in.

I think I will try Mission Space again.:space:

~*~BambiTambi-- Oooooooh, thanks for the phone number! Now I can really bug 'em! ;)

~*~CaptainConcierge--Did you *not* get to try Mission Space last time? We (me and kids) waited in line, but then they got into a fight  and we had to leave. Have heard so many cool things about it, though. . .

 Oh, I could not agree with you more! I'm nearly "shell-shocked" about posting on other threads, as the "CLAWS" come out so quickly, flames too! It's always "comforting" to post here, on the S/D, and WL threads. There's no "judgement" and no attacks! Just WARM welcomes and FRIENDLY advice, (not to mention the endearing stories of our experiences with the "human factor" in the midst of the MAGIC!). :goodvibes

lovesdumbo~:wave2: I'll be waiting to hear the "Baby Center" story after work! :hyper: These exchanges help to keep me centered & grounded in all that is REAL about the MAGIC! Have fun at work. ;)

*PS: "Dumbo" is a FAV of DD too! She loves the song, "Baby of mine," as I used to sing it to her when she was younger. ::yes::
Allison Krause sings a beautiful version. The words...evoke the "mommy" in me...

Dumbo01.jpg

Baby mine don’t you cry
Baby mine dry your eyes
Rest your head close to my heart
Never to part
Baby of mine

Little one when you play
Don’t you mind what they say
Let those eyes sparkle and shine
Never a tear
Baby of mine

If they knew sweet little you
They'd end up loving you too
All those same people who scold you
What they'd give just for the right to hold you

From your head down to your toes
You’re so sweet goodness knows
you’re so precious to me
sweet as can be
Baby of mine

All of those people who scold you
What they'd give just for the right to hold you

From your head down to your toes
You're not much goodness knows
But your so precious to me
Sweet as can be
Baby of mine
Baby of mine
:lovestruc

floridafam~Continued GOOD FEELINGS on this beautiful WEDNESDAY!

blowinbubbles~FREE PHONE CALLS!! BambiTamby is the BEST!!! Now...you can just keep calling, calling, calling... ;)

Captainconcierge~If you have not tried Mission Space, you're in for a treat! We rode it "6" times in a row last summer, as they just summoned us over as we walked up to "look" (as we thought it was NOT open yet!). With no line...we just went again and again. It's a complete and utter RUSH!! Keep your head upright and back, and breath deeply! :teeth:

*I always presume with most resorts and properties, CL and suites are their "Bread & Butter" and most/many are not listed on reservation sites. I usually "always" have to call the resort, so I never even "try" the sites (didn't even think it would show)! I called the CR for the 14th floor suite, as I knew in advance it would not be on the ressie site.

I contacted a Bora Bora resort yesterday, via email. The resort mgr emailed promptly, and replied accordingly. The Bungalow I desired to reserve...is $2500 per eve (cough...choke!). BUT...since it IS a Starwood property...(like the Swan/Dolphin), and I am PLATINUM preferred SPG (starwood preferred guest), I am able to reserve the lowest priced bungalow...and receive a complimentary upgrade to a larger one (about 1500 Sq.Ft). He is going to email me again today, with the prospects for an upgrade and advice for the best method of transport from so. Cali (hopefully NOT a RAFT!) Take a peek...you'll see why I'm so intrigued! (www.starwoodtahiti.com) French Poly is my FAV place...
:D

Enjoy the DAY!
