WoodysRoundup, I think that you are making the right decision by staying GF RPC. It has obviously been a dream of yours for a while, and I think you'll be really happy with your decision since it's making a dream come true. I totally agree with the others that Poly concierge wouldn't be disappointing, but if GF RPC means so much to you, then it's the thing to do. Don't feel guilty--you budgeted for it. Plus, you can always try out Poly concierge on your next trip. ;) :)

BCV23 - How exciting, a couple of days and you'll be there!! Have a great time!!

WoodysRoundup - You're right, waiting 'til Dec. the excitement is really gonna build!!:Pinkbounc We'll be right here to get you through - after all, we all share your obsession, 'ya know?!!

I love reading this thread.

We are staying in concierge for the first time at the end of May. We are very excited...

We were just excited to stay at the Poly and now that we are staying in GVC we CANNOT wait to experience it....

BTW, this is our first time on site as well. Do you think we are setting our expectations too high? We decided to upgrade because we have very small children (2.5 and 6 months) and wanted to have all the conviences of concierge to make it as easy as possible... Plus, I wanted to surprise my mother and spoil her a little... She helps us so much (DH and I are working parents) that I wanted to repay her somehow...

k&a&c'smom, thanks for the good wishes and the same to you. We'll only be at the Polynesian for four nights and then on to the BCV for five, but by the time we get back, you'll be almost there. Have a wonderful trip!

Luv2trav, what a way to stay for your first time on-site. You will love it. Happy planning!

Luv2trav>> Sounds like you booked concierge for all the right reasons! *as if I could find a bad reason?* With two small children it will be a wonderful convenience, plus what a nice gift for mom!

BAMBI IS BACK! Hurry, someone help me clean the fish tank!
I can't wait to read all of your reports! Three weeks and hours and I'll be there!

HELLO ALL you Lounge Lizards!!!!!

Just walked in from a long day of flying!
The crowds at MCO were WORSE than WDW!:earseek:

In a nutshell, we weren't able to upgrade to CL at CR because it was 100% FULL, but the CR Tower was wonderful.
The resort has it's own beauty and appeal!
Just loved to see the Wishes FW from our balcony and watch the castle turn colors all night long! (we were on the 11th floor, odd number room)
DS and friend LOVED the arcade and pool and MONORAIL!
As well as, Chef Mickey's!
And those Stickey Mickeys at Concorse Steakhouse were decadent! just loved them!:teeth:

AKL Concierge was AWESOME!!!!!!!
Got on the 6th floor savannah and saw LOTS of animals, loved the staff, and got the scoop on different bedding and room numbers for concierge level. I will post it later because it's still packed!
Also, Kenny at AKL CL offered us an upgrade when we were checking out to a 2 bedroom suite just to keep us there!
IF the boys weren't so DEAD SET on the YC/BC pools, I would've taken it !
The Sunset Safari was beyond words....just incredible what this staff does for you...they really go that extra mile to keep you wanting to stay there forever!;)
Only thing.....NO Bottled water. PERIOD. Not even the glass, because some folks would throw them over the railing, or accidently knock them off, and the glass breakage was too dangerous for the animals.

OK...now the scoop on my YC CL experience......what can I say?
We checked in early, about 11:30 am, and were told that we had been upgraded to a waterview down the hall from the lounge.
Went to the Studios and came back at 3:00 and our room was...
are you ready for this one?
gone! Our room was GONE and they were 100% FULL!:earseek:  :earseek:
No pooopoo!::yes::

Well, Amy from Concierge Planning came on the scene, as well as the GM, Sammy, and they seached for 30 minutes for any concierge room on property!
The 2 bedroom suite at AKL, which DH NOW knows we should have grabbed up... was long gone!

Well, we ended up with a gardenview CL room at the Beach Club.
We haven't stayed there since their renovation, and I have to say this....they were WONDERFUL!
The room was done in beautiful peachy and teal with the neatest wallpaper, baby seahorses, and the bedspreads were the mickey characters on the beach scenes.
the food was very good and great for picky eaters!
PLUS...all the bottled water you wanted...just had to ask and it was in GLASS.

OK, OK, I'm getting a little cross-eyed and will post more later!
Also, I gotta get these pics on a site to link, and Debbie, your little baby Ankole calf is soooo precious! We got to see him so close, could almost touch him , on the Sunset safari!

Good to be back home, but I'm looking forward to our next trip and helping all of ya'll plan yours!

Great to hear that OVERALL your trip was wonderful & welcome back to reality. I'm sooo sorry your room was given away at YC! That must've floored you . After hearing your experience at AKL, I believe I must put that one on the "to do" list. :scratchin. I have read others giving AKL a thumbs up, too. You being the well rounded, seasoned WDW diser you are, I trust your opinion. My DH said his next choice would've been AKL. Maybe while we're there, I'll take him to go take a peek at the resort to kind of persuade him to go next year or sooner.::yes:: I hope it works, I don't think one week is going to be enough for me.princess:

Rest up so you can tell us all about it.:)

I need a Disney fix and yours sounds like it was a dream come true.

I can't believe they gave away your room!! EEEEKKKKK:eek:

BambiTamby -

Welcome home! I am looking forward to hearing all about the sunset safari. We have reservations one week from tonight!:Pinkbounc

I flew through your post!! Can't wait to hear more. I can't believe what happened at YC! Did you check out WL again while you were there?

LUV2TRAVEL...Welcome!!! You made a great choice. We chose the monorail and concierge with our toddlers for the same reason as you. I don't think you'll be disappointed!

Hi Bambi,
Welcome back! I am happy to hear that you had a wonderful vacation. The news about the Yacht Club has me pretty terrifed about my upcoming stay there. You are truly a great sport to have accepted the change so well....especially since you could have been in a two bedroom at the AKL. Yikes!

Not only were we "bit" by the concierge bug, but we now have the fever!!!
They did such a wonderful job at the Polynesian, we are going back in September!!!!
callie

Yikes!! Bambi-you took the YC really well. We are supposed to be there in a few weeks. Can they just give your room away if that's what you paid for? Really don't need that to happen to us-I'm afraid I wouldn't take it very well!

Sorry to hear about your experience at YC, but everyone should make a note of your attitude - you didn't let it ruin your trip and that is the smartest way to go!

Luv2trav - Excellent choice! The few times we've travelled with our young nieces/nephew being on the monorail & having concierge service was absolutely invaluable. We would never do it any other way. It takes SO much of the stress out of travelling with young 'uns. We're probably a little tenser than most when we have the kids with us, because they're not ours - we're responsible for someone else's most precious treasure, and having the lounge and concierge staff helps us to relax a lot.

BCV23 & everyone else leaving soon - have great trips and I am SO jealous! I feel like such a spoiled brat, but I can hardly wait 'til May. I don't know how WoodysRoundup can keep reading this thread & not go stark raving mad waiting 'til December!

Hi Bambi!
we just got back Sunday and boy MCO was packed wasn't it!!!
MK was crazy last week!

we enjoyed our stay at the WL CL. It was nice- good food offerings, water in glass bottles as well. It was so nice to have breakfast every morning, and drinks and snacks during the day for DD who is 2. And it was very nice coming back in the evening and getting her some cookies and milk! This was very convenient for us! Nice rooms, beautiful atmosphere, wonderful view!

Didn't really come in to contact with the CM's all that much, they seemed awfully busy most of the time, but they did help with a few PS's. Oh- and we received all our room requests as well, 2 queens, bed rails, courtyard/bay view. Very nice!
DD had a blast, and we came home with some Magical memories!

I think the next time we go, we would like to try the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Or maybe the Contemporary. Chef Mickeys was so much fun!

MagicPrincess,

Welcome Back! It sounds like you had a good trip.

Are you going to do a trip report? :hyper:

floridafam...
once I get settled here at home and I can jot down my memories I'll do a trip report!
Lots of good things to report!!!
::yes::

Bambi, welcome back!!! I'm glad your trip went well. Your room at the CR sounded great. It's on my list of places to stay (it's the only resort I lack to have stayed at all of the deluxes). I can't belive the YC gave away your room! I am glad that they were able to put you up elsewhere, but what a shocker! I can't wait to see some pics and here more about your trip!!!

[/B]MagicPrincess,[/B] I'm glad to hear you had such a magical trip! I am interested in giving WL concierge a try, so I eagerly anticipate your reports. Do you remember what foods they served in the lounge during your stay?

Welcome back, Bambi and MagicPrincess - So glad you both had a wonderful trip!! Sounds like WDW is jammed with people - we'll be there in a couple of weeks, and it will probably be even more crowded!:scared1:

Bambi, sorry about your experience at YC - how nerve-racking!! But, you had a good time in spite of it, that's the main thing, huh?!

BTW - anybody know what's up with my clippie? It's gone!! (I now see it again, must have been a problem with the server?!)
