How many miles on your car? What make/model?

1995 Mercury villager minivan- 150k miles-currently needs some work done,we drive it locally:thumbsup2
1996 Subaru legacy wagon-66k miles- runs perfectly-
haven;t had a car payment in 9 years- and we aim to keep it that way!:cool1:
I don't like the Subaru,but it is reliable.....:rolleyes1

Why don't you like the Subaru? I love Subarus even though we don't have one.

My parents had one when I was growing up.

2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited w/only 57,000 miles
1992 Ford Explorer XLT w/only 88,900 miles
Both paid for...:thumbsup2

2004 Ford Taurus with 110,000 miles
2006 Mercury Sable with 79,500 miles

I hope to turn over the Taurus to DS soon. I hate car payments though so it's complicated.

1993 Volvo 240, bought in 2000 with 133,000k already on it.

11 years later and I'm at 225,000k.:thumbsup2

Most cars will run a loooong time, IF they are properly maintained. Car manufacturers want you to buy a new car, so the industry has perpetuated the idea that if a repair/maintenance is more getting to be more than the car is worth, then it's time to get a new vehicle.

I disagree. I average around $1000 a year in maintenance/repair costs to keep my Volvo going. That's a lot cheaper than a year of new car payments, and at that rate, it would take a long time to come out even with paying cash on something new.

I realize that doesn't always make sense. The maintenance costs on my car are significantly cheaper than newer model Volvos, for example.

2002 Saturn SL-240,000 miles on it-less than $500 of unscheduled repairs in 8 years.

2008 Saturn Vue-41,000-no issues at all.

GM lost a customer when Saturn was eliminated.

Agreed! Our first Saturn went to 260,000+. We just got rid of it because my dh's company issued him a company car. Our second was 220,000 when my in-laws offered us their old van that had less than 100,000.

Currently PT Cruiser with 132,000, and a Chevy Cobalt with 50,000. We drive our cars to death. We plan to have these 2 for awhile.

Oops....I see this is an older thread that I already answered.

Our miles have gone up though!

1996 Saturn Station Wagon- over 150K miles and still running
2002 Saturn VUE- 95K miles- no problems at all
2004 Toyota Sequoia- 100K miles- never a problem

The problem is that many people can't have the car break down on them or have the car in the shop for several days per year (or longer.)

If I were single and didn't have a DH who knew how to fix cars, I would not have kept our cars this long.

1998 Ford F-150 Extended Cab ---297,000
2004 Pontiac Grand Prix- 165,000
1988 Chevrolet Corvette --102,000

We can put the miles on a vehicle. But they are all paid off, and thankfully I am married to an excellent mechanic. The 'Vette is a toy so hopefully we will keep the miles low for a while..:rotfl:

2003 Ford Escape Limited 71000 miles, purchased new - My most favorite car ever! Looking to trade when the new re-designed Escape becomes available, hopefully next year.

1999 Toyota Rav4. Sightly over 100,000 miles. (I know it turned over in July.) I put a new clutch on it recently so I should be good for another 100,000. (A car payment would cut into my Disney budget.)

2000 Grand Caravan -- 188,000 miles
1995 Toyota Camry -- 135,000
1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass -- 90,000 miles

The caravan had a blown engine at 68,000 miles and we paid $2,400 to put a junkyard engine from a van with 18,000 miles on it in it. We struggled with the decision at the time, but we still owed on it and didn't want to fold in debt in a new vehicle. Now, five years and 120,000 miles later, it obviously was the right decision. We would like to keep it going until our middle son graduates from college in May 2011. We will then have a break in paying tuition for the first time in ten years. Our mechanic isn't sure if that will work out, but he says the Camry is just getting broken in!

Time for one of the high-mileage folks to update as our situation has changed a lot.
2000 Grand Caravan -- 228,000
2005 Camry - 80,000
2003 PT Cruiser - 77,000
2009 Impala - 7,000

I inherited the Impala and the Cruiser in August. The mileage for the Impala IS correct -- my dad was not in good health and really had no business buying a new car when he got it. The Grand Caravan is still going strong but the a/c is broken, so we'll probably get rid of it next summer. DH's 1995 Camry was still running like a charm when a car turned left in front of him in December, leading us to get the 2005. Our DS got a very happy upgrade from the beat-up 1993 Olds to his grandmother's Cruiser.

I THINK I'm still a practical person when it comes to cars, but I'll admit I'm enjoying driving the Impala. I'm still a fan of getting used but good condition, though. We paid $9,500 from a private seller for the 2005 Camry and our mechanic found it in fabulous condition -- new is twice or bit more that.

We're getting ready to trade our 2006 Honda Odyssey w/ ~80,000 miles (at least 8,400 of those miles being WDW trips:)). Getting ready to purchase 2012 Odyssey.
