How many miles do you "think" you walk?

Seems everyone has someone in thier group with a device that registers how many steps you take. iPhones can do it. Fitbits and pedometers. But I don't believe most of them are very accurate. I see posts of 12,14 and even 16 miles walked in a day. I'm doubting it.
Doing a little math, my iPhone calculates 2.87 feet per step. Maybe if I'm out speed walking. But in the parks I barely get one foot in front of the other. When you stand in line, it registers just about every lean left and right. Hardly a 2.87 foot step! And just the vibration in some rides register on the step count. I've checked.
So keeping all that in mind, how far do you REALLY think you walk in a day ?

I don't know the answer but agree with you. Unless you live the most sedentary lifestyle the shuffling people do around the parks hardly constitutes any sort of exercise.

Average day at Disney and Busch Gardens my Apple Watch clocks about 9-11 miles a day. I'd definitely say that's accurate. And that's with hours of breaks at midday

depending on the day and how much backtracking we did from one side of the park to another, my fitbit shows that I walked between 14,000 and 30,000 steps per day. (at 2500 steps per mile, that's up to 12 miles per day). Since on my normal day walking around the house, the grocery store etc. I walk about 12500-15000 steps, I do think that's pretty accurate.

I also use a mileage app that uses GPS to track my mileage when I walk, so I feel pretty accurate about the 2500 steps per mile for myself. My husband is much taller than I am, and his stride length is more like 2000 steps per mile.

I do around 12 miles per day at WDW (~24,000 steps). I wear a pedometer every day and do intentional walking at home and work each day (~12,000 steps), so I think I am getting a pretty accurate reading. No surprise that a day of walking at WDW is about double a day at home, considering that we are usually inthe parks from open until close.

I agree with 10-12 miles/day. We just came back from a trip with 3 iPhones, a Nike Fuel band and a Fit Bit tracking our steps. They were all in agreement- with a very small margin of difference- of steps taken. Touring the parks is a workout, lol!

On a regular day, 10-12 miles. My record is 38,000 steps. We were at RD and stayed until the bitter end of MNSSHP. The only break we took was to pop over to GF to put on our costumes. That was a lot of walking in a lot of heat and humidity. That's still my record number of steps. I doubt we'll break it this year, as the four-year-old is joining us. She's not quite up to epic power walking levels yet. I need to give her about 3-4 more years. My now 10-year-old walked every step of those 38,000 with me at age eight, so it won't be too long until her little sister can match it.

I see this discussion come up pretty often, and not only here, and it made me curious about how well my phone (a Samsung Galaxy Note 4) does at keeping track of my distance walked. Of course, it is very possible that all devices do NOT work the same way, and certainly, by no means have I tested every possible situation with my phone, but I have kept a close eye on my step count while driving, and have not seen the count increment at all when I'm in the car, even when driving over dirt roads with washboards and the like, which I would have expected to register on it.

I have also walked quite a few days, then measured my route in Google Earth, and found that the phone was quite accurate. I haven't directly tested walking in a line with it, but have noticed at least anecdotally that if I am taking very small steps they often don't register at all on the phone, so my thoughts right now are that at least my phone is pretty good at getting an accurate walking distance.

Typical numbers I see in Disney are around 8 miles a day. The lowest I recall seeing was 6, and I think we've been up around 12, but that was a full day in the Magic Kingdom with breakfast at Chef Mickeys, the Halloween Party, and a walk back to the contemporary when we were done. Certainly I didn't measure that day in Google Earth, but I felt like I had walked 12 miles lol.

Again, perhaps none of this is at all relevant to any other device that measures walking distance, but I feel as if the Note 4 is pretty accurate, and would say that my family at least, averages about 8 miles a day in Disney World.

We're slow and take lots of breaks.....so 6-12 (tends to be more when we park hop)

Mine depends on how efficient I am with touring

My recent highest is about 13 miles, and that was open to close at Magic Kingdom, but included a lot waiting for/watching parades/shows/fireworks since those are more important to me than rides.
On a regular night where I just stop by after work for a few hours, I can get in 3-6 miles. But generally on those nights, if I'm there for rides, I am bouncing around the park based on what FP pops up rather than trying to complete a land before moving to the next.

I do have tendency to avoid crowds which generally means walking/taking the long way to places.

I have a different smart watch than I did last year, but the numbers are similar, so I don't think that's an issue. I have also checked before/after rides and haven't noticed that I get any/more than a few steps in so coasters aren't inflating anything

I measured it with one of those gauge thingies and it was 10 miles for me, in MK. Probably more in Epcot.

We typically average 30,000 steps in one day. I feel like I'm more exhausted from knowing that number versus staying oblivious. Thanks smart phones.
