How many miles are on your car and what type of car do you drive?

The reason I'm asking is because my cousin is in the process of buying a used vehicle. She's looking at a Honda. The thing is she doesn't want a high car note. Even no car note would be nice. She's trying to budget. We both heard that Honda's are great cars that run well over 100,000 miles and no problems. My sister has a 98 Honda Civic with 80,000 miles and she hasn't had 1 problem. The only thing is when you buy used, you run into cars with high miles. Just curious what cars would be good to look into with higher mileage?

Hondas are good even at high miles, but I am a 14-year Toyota employee so I have to be a homer here. I just turned my 97 Tercel over the 100K mark a week and a half ago and it runs like new. You can't kill these cars it seems.

Honda.
2004, 31000 miles.
I would buy a Honda again in a heartbeat. I expect mine to go 100000 miles or more.

I used to drive a Nissan 240 sx stick shift when I was 16, it was my baby. I drove the life out of that car, it died at 260,000 miles. My current car is a 1996 Pontaic Grand AM, it has 106,000 miles on it, it's a lemon, i've tanked a lot of money into it. I can't wait to get another car.

Dh's 1997 Mercury has just past 100000
My 2000 Intrigue has around 80000.

He JUST put $200 into his car for a minor repair which is the first thing to go wrong since he got it back in 2002. Not too bad since we paid cash too. That is totally the way to go if you are budgeting.

The car he had before that was a 1990 Chevy. It SAID it had 80000 (only 5 didget odometer), but when we ran a carfax on it, the report showed it rolling over 3 times. So it actually had 380,000 miles on it!!! It was a peice of crap, but it still ran, and so it did the job. I made him junk it once I got pregnant the first time; there was no way I was going to be seen with a baby in that car! (it was VERY ugly). It had issues, but ran for almost 2 years while he had it without dropping any money into it.

DH is in the auto pars/ repair business. We have found that some of the vehicles that hold up best are: Toyota, Mercedes ( I know, expensive...but built well), Dodge trucks, and some Jeeps.

Something to think about is the cost of repairs to certain vehicles. Foreign cars usually cost more to have repaired. Their parts are more expensive.

I currently drive a Jeep Cherokee. It's fairly new, so it doesn't have many miles...but we hardly ever sell any parts or do repair work on them (and there are a lot of them around here). So I guess that's a good sign.

DH once had a Toyota truck with 250,000 miles on it and when he sold it, the next owner drove it until he totaled it in a wreck.

DH has a 1993 Bonneville that he refuses to part with. It has a little over 180,000. It has issues but DH is working on them...heaven forbid I mention the "sell" or "trade in" words, lol.

I have a 1998 Venture and it has 130,000 and still going strong. Ok, now its going strong. This week we replaced the battery and front windshield wiper motor. But that's the only things we've really had to do to it.

the car i had before my beetle was a honda civic and it had 120,000 miles on it. The only thing wrong with it was it was 15 years old and the air conditioning quit working. And it had a fuel injection problem.

We bought both our cars new. The 1995 Saturn SL1 has 130,000 on it. The 2002 Saturn Vue has around 70,000.

I have a 99 Toyota Camry with 119,000 miles on it :earseek:

It's been a GREAT car! Wouldn't hesitate to buy another Camry.

My current vehicle has about 1,600. :)

I had a Honda years ago and loved it - never had a single problem with it!!

Wow, I'm really surprised to hear about the Jeep Cherokee. I thought those had issues. Someone who works at Chrysler told me the Jeep Cherokee & Jeep Liberty are crap, but I do see lots of them around here too.

My sister had a Liberty and traded it in. It had "issues". Mostly the A/C not working (not a good thing in Louisiana).

Like I said, I haven't had the Cherokee but for a couple of months, so we'll see. DH insisted it's a good vehicle, but he has issues with me driving anything with over 70,000 miles on it...so we'll probably never know.

My Honda CRV just hit 100k on my way home from work Friday. I've had no problems with it and plan to keep it until it dies.

I drove my Accord right into the ground. Bought a 1990 Accord in 1996 with 75,000 and it died in 2003 with 160,000 miles on it.

I have a 1994 Honda Accord LX 5-speed, with 193,400 miles on it. And it runs fine! In the last two years, I have put alot of money into it, but the car overall runs great so I felt it was worth it. I even drove the car TWICE to Orlando from NJ in the last three months with no problems at all - I never worried one bit since I knew it would make it. Also, I originally decided to buy an Accord because a former High School teacher of mine had one, and I really liked her car. She recently sold her 1992 Accord EX with 201,437 miles on it, and it was still running great! :)

I already know my next car will be another Honda! :)

156,000 +

No intention of replacing it until it is absolutely necessary!! :)

My 95 Taurus has on $53,000 miles on it! I drive 10 miles a day to the train station. Then all my stores are with in 4 mile radius.
The passenger door doesn't open , and the blinker has to turned off manually. but I still love it!

My van has 20,000 and my old 99 saturn has 50,000.....I usually get rid of a car by the time it has 50,000 on it...I don't like having a car that needs to have repairs done on it but I kept the saturn as a car my mom could use or that I could use when I needed to as a staion car since its old...
