How many loads of laundry do you do each week?

I can't imagine only doing 1-2 loads per WEEK with 3 people in the house.

It's just DH and me in our house and I probably do 5-6 loads per week.
1. DH's work pants/shirts
2. Dark colors
3. Light colors
4. Whites (I like to use bleach, so can't just throw them in with everything else as another PP said they do).
5. Towels
6. Sheets

And occasionally an extra load or two when I want to wash blankets/throws.

We have three kids left at home so we count as a family of 5. I do at least 12 to 14 loads a week! School uniforms, clothes we change into after work/school,sheets, towels etc.

You wash the mattress pads & blankets every 2 weeks?

Mattress pad gets washed every Sunday- with sheets. blankets every week or 2.

Where do people find the TIME to do 15 loads in one week?

I find it difficult enough to do 3 in one evening and I start at 5:00pm, and the rest of my week is spoken for, between my own exercise, making meals, cleaning dishes, doing crafts and playing with the child, etc.

I throw a load in the washer as I am leaving for work, my daughter comes home from school and moves it in to the dryer and by the time I come home from work they are ready to come out.

People wash pajamas after one wearing???

I CAN do laundry, but DW prefers to do it herself. When I was single, I'd often put everything together, and it was fine. I don't know why some people are overly anal about separating things. And I've NEVER lost a sock while doing laundry. My greatest achievement. :cool1:

.

Pajamas washed every day or 2. Towels after one use. I do not separate anything- everything gets tossed in together and never had any problems.

My boyfriend washes a load every 1-2 weeks. I can easily go six weeks before I start to run out of clean clothes to wear.

Holy crap, you must have a TON of clothes! I could go about 7 or 8 days before I ran out of jeans (worn twice) and socks/underwear.

What a co-winky-dink!! The local news just had a feature about washing pajamas. A reporter was in a pajama/sleepwear only store in SoHo in NYC. A poll (who knows how accurate or scientifically valid it was) stated that men wash their sleepwear on average once every 17 days. Women waited longer. :scared1: A dermatologist suggested wearing pj's no more than a week before washing, but she said daily washing is definitely unnecessary.

I don't wear pajamas per se, but rather sleep shorts or sleep pants. Usually I wear them a week before putting them in the hamper. If I'm off from work and wear them around the house until 2p, I probably dispose of them earlier.

I have at least 20 pairs of underwear, same for DW. A socks/underwear load of laundry is done about every two weeks, maybe longer. And it's not even a full load.

Bathing suits? Mine are just rinsed off after swimming and left to hang dry. Probably after 4 or 5 wearings they're washed. DW hasn't worn a bathing suit in about 10 years. I rarely use a towel to dry off after swimming, just air dry. Beach towels, the kind you put on the sand and lay on, are washed maybe once in late July and again in early October before being put away for the season.

but, but, but wouldn't they be all dirty and sandy:confused3 If we are swimming at a pool or the beach towels and suits get thrown into he washing machine as soon as we get home. I even do a load of laundry every day when we are on vacation, partly for this reason.

As for sleepwear we never wear more then once.

I'm also surprised by how many clothes some people must have. I only wear skirts, and I only own four of them for winter. I'll wear twice, but by then I've usually gotten something on them while cooking or something. So eight days max.

1 load every 1-2 weeks?!? Nevermind the amount of clothes you'd need to go six weeks without doing Landry, but if you're only doing a single load every 1-2 weeks you have to be wearing the same clothes multiple times?

I just don't see how towels and 7days worth of fresh clothes would fit a single load in the wash...

I couldn't make it six weeks haha, I don't have 50pr of underwear. I maybe have 42 distinct dresses or top/bottom combos but wouldn't want the pile up!

How many loads of laundry do you do after six weeks? It'd be so much more painful for me to wash 15 loads of laundry once every six weeks than 2-3 each week.

This thread is so interesting!

Everything except the delicate stuff (aka expensive bras Tax guy;))
No red clothing goes in the washer with everything else unless I know its not going to run.

3 people, 1 dog. 12-15 loads wk. avg water bill is $70 for 3 months.

1 load a day same as above.
3-4 on week end with just bedding every week sheets 3 beds, every other week blankets
1 load for dog bed and towels.

For just DH and me, 2 or 3 loads a week. We don't get clothes very dirty, he wears his work pants several times and we only use a couple of towels each per week. Sometimes we go more like 10 days before we have to wash dark colors.

I always find these threads very enlightening. I found out from a similar thread a while ago that some people only use a towel once. Growing up with 5 siblings, that would never have worked at our house! I think I wash mattress pads twice a year.

I don't even know what a mattress pad is.

Is that the plasticky/terry cloth protector thing that absorbs sweat and what not? I was that every week with my sheets but it's a PITA cause it has to dry on low or it melts into itself. Ugh.

I just had to ask my boyfriend about his washing habits so I could answer you. Lol. He said undershirts and underwear get changed daily (whew!) and overshirts and pants usually get worn twice before going into the laundry. Plenty of space in the washer for a week or two of clothes at that rate. He's usually the one to add the towels and sheets to his loads. I'm a leggings and stretch/tank tops kind of gal. It takes a long time to fill a hamper with little, lightweight clothing like that. If I bothered to separate anything I could make two loads but I just cram everything into one. I can't believe how much laundry some people do!

It's just me in my apartment and I do 2 loads every other week. I can't imagine doing as much laundry as most people here do. I live in California, and have a laundry room in my apartment building but not my apartment. It's no fun to drag laundry up and down stairs. I do reuse towels and jeans.

I am surprised at those that don't seperate anything.

Even using the color grab sheets, some things still will fade in my wash. We have to make sure none of dd's bright socks get in anything except colored towels. One will ruin her school uniform pants.

Some of our blouses don't need to be washed with jeans especially the ones with all the little blingly things on the pockets.

And dh's white tshirts and socks get really dingy looking if washed with colors too often.

And I wash most things in cold water. Maybe its a difference in types of clothing? Or hard vs soft water? Or detergent? I use Tide.

We don't really have clothes that are white so no need to do a whites only wash. And don't have and jeans with anything "blingy" on then. If I got a brand new red sweatshirt or something I would wash that in with just jeans for the first time but after that everything in one load.

No plastic on any of ours.

Even in cold water, our jeans give off dye...which is why the darks have their own load. ;)
