Is 4 home resorts too many if I'm only going to go every other year.? (hopefully it'll be more often down the road)
Am i setting myself up for some serious decisions when I'm trying to book. Right now i have 3 home resorts, but I'd really like to get a 4th. lol

Every other year? Hrmm that's tough, you could use the BLT/AKV points as SAP and that would make things better to add a 4th. Personally though I wouldn't. If you were planning to go annually I think the 4th would make a lot of sense. Because then if you're okay with split stays you could alternate banking so each year you would stay at Animal Kingdom and Boardwalk and then the following year BLT and *insert 4th home resort here* and just continue doing that. But every other.. unless you plan on switching 4 times you're not going to be using the home resort priority of some of your resorts.

I imagine you'll always use BWV for BW and then flex around the AKV/BLT to use at 7 months somewhere or book AKV or BLT at 11 months and then at 7 months book BLT with AKV points or AKV with BLT points? What were you thinking for a 4th?

I have four home resorts, so no 🤣…but we go several times a year so different scenario altogether.

I agree with @intamin - it’s entirely dependent on how you’d use it. Doing a split stay between two resorts is already a lot for me (and I pride myself on my efficient packing skills, ha!) I’d need another vacation to recover from 4!! But if I recall correctly, you seemed comfortable with it?

Four here. Wasn’t the plan but just worked out that way.

One use year of August for all four, which makes it easy.

But Chili, you’re asking the wrong crowd on this forum. Better off going to a DVC addonitis clinic for heavy users.

Which resort?

Yes, that was my thought... not sure how I could even utilize 4 resorts. lol

Yes, BWV will be used like my VGC (which I'm not counting in my3/4 resort dilemma.) for that resort only.
My current plan will be to stay at 3 places for 3 nights each, every other year.... But I want to add CCV. lol (I want the "Peter Dominick" award)

I think what I need to do is just use my 3 resorts for now, & just play it by ear, if i can find a way to get there more often, either every year or even twice every other year, a 4th can make sense, but until then id just be creating unneeded headaches.

Yes, I love split stays. :)

Are you currently doing a 3-way split every other year? Or do you go more than once a year?

I’ve only been to WDW once. lol
But 3 way split is the plan.
My one trip I did AKV/BWV/BRV, and I loved it, so I’m basically planning on doing the same for the future, only I bought BLT so now that would be my 3rd stop instead of BRV.
I’d also like to go more often, but that’s just wishful thinking right now.

You could always just see how the first three go first before buying a 4th….
Yea, you know I just get caught up in dreamland… I may not even like to split 3 ways in the future. Also I haven’t even passed ROFR on the BLT yet, so CCV is not too serious, yet. :)

We have 4 home resorts and stay for about a week two to three times per year. We don’t like split stays so we bank/borrow to get the whole 7-9 nights. BCV is our first home resort and it’s our go to in the fall. VGF is our second and it’s our go to in the spring. BLT is our third - we bought as SAP+ points but we are more than happy to stay there. This is the pool of points we use for non home (AUL, PVB, and VGC) stays plus leftovers from the other contracts. VGC is our fourth and I still can’t believe we own there - those points are for DL use only except again for random leftover points.

They are all the same UY which makes managing them easier.

If you want 4 home resorts and want to do split stays, it’s doable but one thought I would have is how many left over points will you have going every other year? And will you be able to find a use for say random 12 points? Going as often as we do, we always are able to use the left overs but I imagine it would be harder with less frequent trips.

It makes me sad to be rational when it comes to DVC and Disney lol, but just use your BLT as SAP for now. I’ve been trying to add a few more days to our mid-December trip in a CCV walk-in shower studio (😖IYKYK) and I’ve surprisingly been pretty successful, got 2/3 night we wanted already! If I can book that room in December at 5mos out, you should definitely be able to stalk your way into a stay at 7mos. Every other trip you can switch off which MK resort you stay at😌 …until your ready for more points of course, but that will give you a bit of time to figure your more long term game plan.

I would say - “It depends”. How many points at each resort do you/would you have? For us, we’ve bought enough pts at each of our home resorts to use them independently instead of having to combine at 7 mos, if that makes sense (ie, 200+ at each). I suppose what I’m saying is that if you want to end up with 750-1000 pts and multiple trips in a studio or long weekends in a larger room, owning 4 resorts should be no problem. If you want to end up with 300 pts, then yes, you are probably setting yourself up for a pain in the backside booking experience if you want to use all of your points for a single big trip (which I assume based on your every other year comment is what you’d do). Just my $.02.

I have been trying to figure out SAP. Please what is that? 7th month usage is the closest meaning I can figure out.

I’ve said this somewhere else so just copy and pasted cause it’s easier lol
SAP: Sleep Around Points are points you use specifically at 7mo to ‘sleep around’ resorts other than the home resort. Usually the cheapest points you have. SSR is most people’s go to for this.

SAP+ is newer term being used for points bought for SAP but where home resort advantage is also a factor, think CCV (low dues, reasonable point chart, low-ish buy-in and must own to stay in December) or BLT (location, low dues, must own to get SV). There’s a great thread started by @Chili327 about this that is really informative.

I think having multiple resorts is great. If buying add ons, why not change up the home resort to get more options at booking 11-7 months out. Plus my personal view is to own at places that allow for walking (or not using buses) to as much as possible. Dream combo would be BWV, SSR, BLT and AKV. In regards to being able to walk to HS, EPcot, MK and DS plus quick bus to AK. We once owned OKW, HHI, AKV, BWV and CCV but sold the OKW and HHI. Love HHI and need to own to book summer time but the annual dues got so high. Never liked OKW but it was our first DVC contract via resale in 2006 and was cheapest. Wish we bought SSR instead as we LOVE SSR. But it was selling new then and seemed super expensive. And we can easily always book SSR with any of our points.

I thought that too many would be when I run out of space for the mugs below. But turns out the icons can be made smaller to fit more!

AKV - 39
BWV - 25 (plan to get another small, total of 50-60ish)
BLT - 61
CCV would be another 50-60-ish

At some point, yes I'm hoping to be able to make 2 trips every other year (to utilize an AP)… OR just bigger nicer room, one trip every other year.
So I think the answer is I don't need a 4th at this point, but I may be able to make good use of one in the future.

Yep, you basically got it.

Yep, i love multiple resorts, & agree walking to parks is awesome. BWV & BLT will cover that nicely.

My issue is I don't think I can actually make use of 4 resorts at this point.
