I really don't do well without my solid 8. I'm tired and cranky all day.

I have found, however, that I don't really need any more than that. I'll get to bed by 12:00 or 12:30 and I'm up by 8:30 on my own. Even if I could sleep longer I rarely do.

These polls never work for me. I get between 6 and 7 hours on a normal night. What is normal? lol!
Same here, and that is enough to make me feel fully rested, even when training for a marathon.

Usually in bed around midnight and up at 6am.
I know i'd feel better if I went to bed by 10 and got a solid 8 hours, but after working all day, having dinner, getting the kids in bed, etc., I need some time to watch tv and wind down.

I shoot for, and usually suceed, getting 7 1/2 to 8 hours of sleep during the work week. On the weekends, I often will get 9 hours of sleep. I really do not function well on anything less.

Usually about 6. On the weekends a little longer, but I do pretty well with my usual 6.

Usually about 7 hours, but there are some days where I can sleep for 12 or more. Especially after a long day of swimming or sailling.

I get right at 8 hours each night- and it seems enough....
My "bed time" is 10pm. I occasionally stay up later, but not too often. My alarm goes off at 6:15am each morning. One the weekends I am able to sleep till 7 and even sometimes 8am.

Ok, so I maybe was a little dramatic in voting "less than 4 hours"... but it sure seems like it lately. I haven't slept more than 1.5 hours at a stretch in weeks. Stupid 4 month sleep regression... GO TO SLEEP BABY! :)

I'm a major night owl, which is a problem since I'm still in high school. I go to bed between 11 and midnight and get up between 6:30 and 7:00. On the weekends I go to bed around 1:00 AM and get up between 10:00 and 11:00...bad habit :rotfl:

I usually get a good 8-hours, but some nights I wake up and can't get back to sleep so then it might only be 5-6. I hate those nights. :(

I know the feeling.Once I'm awake, there is no going back too sleep.I HATE IT!!!!!!!!

The only thing on at that time of morning,if I am awakened, is info-mercialls..:sad2:

But sometimes AMC has got a good movie going. Then after that the 3Stooges come on.Then it's time for work and my day is misery.

My sleep story is complicated.

Years ago I was fine with 6 or 7 hours a night. Liked more but was fine with less.

Then my ds was born and he had tremendous sleep issues. To the tune of awake every 1.5 to 2 hours continuously until he was 18 months old. Unfortunately, I'm not exxagerating. He didn't "sleep through the night" until he was 3 years old. And that's if you consider 8 hours of sleep "through the night" for a child that age. He didn't nap well and gave them up early. For the first couple years of his life I survived on 3-5 broken hours of sleep a night and eventually just spiralled down into a tremendous depression that I was treated for when he was 3 and 4.

Now I *can* get less than 8 a night but I have to be very, very careful about it. If I get into a situation where I have to have less than 8 a few nights in a row I begin to get very, very panicky and intense anxiety. A conditioned reaction based on the experiences I had.

Plus, I do much better at my job with 8ish hours of sleep a night. I need to be able to be aware and active with a group of infants and maintain patience and be engaged. It's much easier to do that if I'm well rested.

Wow....I didn't realize so many people got 8 hours of sleep a night!!!:yay: 5 is a good night for me, but it's never a solid 5 hours.

I said between 4 & 6 but I used to get more before I discovered the Dis!!:rotfl2: Here it is now 1:04 AM and I am online. Well, I was asleep, but the TV woke me up and now I am wide awake.

Oh, 8 hours of sleep for me, definitely. If I don't get between 7-8 hours, I'm just miserable the next day and feel like I have a hangover.

I get up at 5:45 most weekdays. I'm usually in bed between 11 and 12. 8 hours of sleep is something that's not really likely for me, since I'd have to be asleep by 9:45.

6 to 7. I go to bed between 9:30 and 10:30 and wake up between 4:00 and 4:30. We have no TV in the bedroom and both strongly prefer it that way. We also don't use an alarm clock. I prefer to wake up when I'm ready. I think its healthier that way. My wife and oldest son also like to sleep until they awaken on their own, but my youngest son wants to be woken up as earlier as possible each day so that he has more time to play in the morning.

How many hours of sleep do you get a night?

Are you happy with the amount you get or do you wish you could somehow get more?

Less than 4 and wishes I could get more. I have so much bone pain it interferes with my sleep:eek:. I also have to be able to get up and take care of the baby when she awakes so I already sleep light as it is:sad2:. My husband says he could never do it:rotfl:, I told him me neither but someone has too:rolleyes1:rotfl2:. For the first time in years I took a NAP during the middle of the day and woke up with my tongue hanging out:lmao: Not sure what I was doing in my sleep:rolleyes1
