We are going to Carribean Beach in a few months and I am looking foreward to the renovated main pool. Last year we went to CSR and the pool there would be hard to beat. Anyways... In my past experiences at CSR and POR I notice nobody showers before they get in. I approached the hot tub at CSR and told my boys to shower before getting in. All three of us took a few steps to the side where a shower head is located and washed off quick. We then went in. While in the hot tub I couldnt help but notice an endless parade come to the pool area and forego the shower. As a matter of fact, I never saw one person besides us use the thing in the 4 to 5 times we went to the main pool. I am not a germophobe either.. actually Im a border line slob to be brutally honest. Do most people honestly shower at the poolside or just go in at the end of a long hot day? :scratchin

I use the shower. Its not to get germs off they ask you to do this. Showering under a stream of water in a bathing suit does little for cleanliness. They want to reduce the amount foreign material (dirt) that goes in because it clogs their stuff up and makes the pools look messy. People often get this at home, ring around the hot tub?

Really common stuff that would make disney's job harder is sun tan lotion (greasy) hair product (same thing), most people are too lazy to bother. Disney deals with it, they probably have to clean the pools more than they should. I still do it though, doesn't take long and every bit helps.

That sums it up perfectly.

I realize a stream of water doesnt kill germs and that they ask you to do this...:confused3 I disagree that it does little for cleanliness. A long day of being hot and sweaty at the parks with all of the sunblocks, hair products etc. creates alot of materials that could be gently washed off quick. Not to mention if a little is washed off from every person multiplied by the hundreds who enter. I think it makes a difference.

Oh ya, I meant that. I thought I explained that, sorry it wasn't clear. It clean as in the dirts gone, but any bacteria and germs are still there. I think I specifically mentioned what you did though, didn't I? Sunscreen, hair stuff? You wrote the same thing as me :P. :lmao:

As someone that puts hair stuff (its some kinda goop, not gel, not hair spray, I DONT KNOW WHAT IT IS!!!) I always use the shower for that reason. The stuff feels awful in my own hands, dont need to subject people to that. I guess someone walking around in the sun all day would have gross hair too though.

Maybe I'm delusional, but I just figured, like me, most people take extra showers being in the Florida heat, and people shower before changing into their bathing suits:confused3 ?

I know the pools have lottsa chemicals that could kill most stuff, but the hot tub situation....You just made me envision festering soup...or a potion for Snow White's stepmom. :stir:

Water Parks and pee...now you've got me going!...

I think you have to just call it vacation...some parts fantasy, some parts reality!

Have a magical day!:flower3:

I've noticed this too. I always take a shower in my room before going to the pool; then after laying in the sun with lotion on I go under the shower before entering the hot tub or pool. I see more kids taking a "quickie shower" than I do adults.

OK, I'll bite. I don't usually hit the shower before jumping in the pool or hot tub.

I don't shower before getting in a pool. Never have. Never will. I have to get nice & hot before I'll even get in.

Same here and I live in South Florida where there are pools all over the place. Most don't have showers and those that do, don't have signs asking for you to rinse off. Granted if I have a ton of hairspray in my hair or am super dirty with dirt on my legs then I'll rinse off but if I'm juts cooling off from a day at the park no I won't necessarily rinse off.

As a former hot tub owner, the recommended procedure when using is to not have on any lotions, perfumes, etc. It's even highly recommended that you do not wash your bathing suits with detergent but rather with simple hot water. That's what we always did but when we had friends over with freshly laundered swim suits, we had soap bubbles appear in the tub. And that is not good for a hot tub.

Even with a quick rinse, that's not going to do that much good for a hot tub. You would need a long, hot shower with no soap and no shampoo. And it's defeating the purpose anyway if your bathing suit was recently laundered with detergent.

Same here. I have never used a shower before a dip in the pool or hot tub. Ever.

And you're bragging about it???

I shower in the room, with soap, prior to putting on my suit.

I don't think he's "bragging" about it. Just be honest, such as the topic heading requested.

Whether I shower before hitting the pool has only to do with the temp of the shower water. Some of those showers by the pool are cold, if I can't get them to warm up no way am I standing under them! I usually try to give them a few mins to warm up, if they do, I'm in!

Showering before getting in the pool is not to wash your body, it is to remove dirt and debris.

The chlorine and chemicals in the water will kill most anything somebody has on their body when they enter the pool, minus Crypto.

Hardly anybody bathes before jumping in a pool (much less showers poolside) and I would not swim in a pool, period. A public hot tub, you'd have to hold a gun to my head. It's basically the equivalent of taking a bath with strangers. You're marinating in their sludge. Nasty!

take a bath before putting on my suit - so didn't think it was necessary again.

talking about 3 minutes here folks - not a long time.

is it?

the only thing that I put on is sun screen - and that is after getting out of the pool. too many CM has complainted about sun screen in the pool. That say they definitely need a sign explaining why. He pointed out to me - several kids who parents were pouring sun screen on them before letting them in the pool.

of course that new sun screen that says it stays on in the water - which is what I need - allergic to the sun. So it is either get in the pool with sun screen, or get in the pool 5 minutes (that is how long have before being burned - rash, then sick, then faint) and go back to the room. So why bother - most WDW pools are open at night!!! Don't need the sun screen at night.:cheer2:

now which do I do - well try the first route - but the sun can get me to put on sun screen much quicker than would at home. if disney really wants people to not put on sun screen - those pools need a heck more shade than they get now. Florida sun burns. leave a little of the pool with sun for those you want to burn (yea even now there are those that think a sun burn is cool). make sure the rest of the pool is in shade - then would agree to go without sun screen.
