How many homes do you think you will live in before you die?

Love in? Or live in? Might be quite a few if the former. Probably only a couple if the latter... ;)

You are very lucky
I am in a "mixed" marriage.
I have lived in 3 houses and 1 condo in my nearly 66 years.
My wife is an Air Force brat, lived in 2 countries, 3 states and best she can recall 16 houses by the time she was 10. Thanks to her parents divorce, and her mom remarrying a couple of times, she lived in another 12 houses by the time she was 18.
Two different life experiences but one thing we decided on before getting married was we were going to stay put, moving was too big a hassle. We rented for the first 9 months when we got were married to save up a down payment, bought our house 40 years ago and expected it would be our last residence, and so far it has been.

We’re in an early 1800’s fixer upper that my husband owned when I met him. He gutted it in 1980 but 40+ years later it’s still not done. Could never afford to pay somebody to do the work so he’s done everything himself. Now he’s in his 60’s and just doesn’t feel like working on it anymore so it is what it is. Don’t think we’d ever get enough for it to move anywhere else so we’re stuck.

I don’t know. My current house has 4 levels so not the greatest if you are old and don’t want to do stairs.

Our house was 4 years old when we bought it and we wanted newer construction to avoid having repair bills. Other than a roof and replacing the HVAC we made it 30 years without any major repairs. When my mom passed away 10 years ago, we sold her house and took some of the money from the sale to do a top to bottom remodel, turning out "raising kids" house into our "retirement" house. Spend more than we paid for the house remodeling. I figure if the contractors grade materials the house was build with lasted 34 years, the premium materials we used will outlast us.
