How many here have been to Disneyland?

I had been to Disneyland twice. My first was to Tokyo Disneyland but I was to young to remember and my second time was several months ago. I had alot of fun and can't wait to go back. I would also like to go to WDW, but that's a bit too far for us right now since my daughter is young.

<font color=navy>I've literally been to Disneyland more times than I can count. Until I was 27, I went at least 2 or 3 times a year, and when my kids were old enough, I think beginning in '95, we started getting annual passes, only missing a couple of years in there. My dd goes more often than me, so we both have premiums. My ds doesn't go as often, so he has a deluxe.

We'll sometimes go there just for a meal, hang out at DD, see a movie there, or go on a ride or two. Sometimes I go just to get a pin for someone, or to people watch.

We're going there this Monday w/some guests from Spain, so I got the premium seating for Fantasmic. I need to make PS's for Blue Bayou, too.

We live about 25 miles away from there.

I went there once in '98...took me eighteen years to get there, then I almost didn't get the chance, because I had the lead in the school play. It was senior year, and the director wasn't going to let me have the part if I backed out.

I tried to talk my parents into letting me stay behind, but they said heck no...so I went to Disney anyways, took two weeks off from rehearsal, but the the director still let me keep my part.

First and only visit Dec 1993 took my oldest nephew he was 11. We loved it but we are WDW Fans.

I have been to DL a lot. We have family in CA so we used to go at least once a year when I was growing up, and I have been several times in the past few years as well.

I have to say that I LOVE DL. It wins my vote hands down over MK. There is just something Magical about DL. You have to ride PoTC there, it is much better than MK. Space Mt. is also more fun.
I just think that the overall feel of DL is so much better than MK. Of course there isn't Epcot, MGM or AK, but California Adventure does have it's merits. (although I do like Epcot and MGM much better)

The last time we went we stayed at the DL hotel which was fun, but there are so many hotels within walking distance of DL, and they also have a trolly service that runs to all the hotels around DL that doesn't cost very much and is very convienent to use.

I'd love to work there someday...

Yep we've gone there at least once a year since my dd was 18 mos old and we would take DL over WDW ANYDAY of the year! We HATED WDW both times we went! It was too big, impersonal and the constant $$$ flying out of our pockets was ridiculous! We stay at a really nice hotel and take a shuttle or drive our car to the park! We figured out the PRIME time to visit so now we have only 5-20 min waits for most things where when we did WDW in Nov and May we never waited for less than an hour! It's also closer and cheaper for us to get too. I love the fact that there are also NON disney theme parks around as well like Knotts Berry Farm, Sea World, Legoland, Six Flags Magic Moutain and Universal Studios! I like the fact that I can eat at a NON-Disney restaurant such as Tony Romas or IHOP just outside the front gate. We've only been to DL once when it rained on us unlike at WDW where we've never had a decent weather trip! We can do DL in 1 day and feel like we did it all whereas at WDW you feel you need to dedicate at least 2 days to each park just to see them all...no thanks!

I highly doubt I'll ever go back to WDW. We do plan on going to Universal and IOA when our youngest gets tall enough to ride everything but other than that we will go West not East for a Disney fix.

I just went to DL at the end of last month... I would definitely do it again in a heart beat... the only problem is that it is a very long flight for me and harder to get out there (cost too). But I would go again if all the factors were right for me. Wonderful rides that you need to experience at least once

2 year ago (before I got the Disney bug) I had the chance to go to DL for a day (I was visiting San Diego at the time) and I said no it's alright I am going to WDW next year. I regret that now.

We went in August 2003. It was wonderful. Disneyland felt smaller and more intimate than MK. And at the same time for a WDW veteran it had a bizzaro world feel to it. Main Street felt "backwards." Rides and lands were "misplaced". We went knowing that DL would be an entirely different experience and we accepted it for that. I actually teared up the first night when I saw the front entrance of It's a Small World. It was so stunning. The storybook canal ride is spectacular. It is filled with bonsai trees that are hundreds of years old and were hand selected by Walt. And Mr. Toad...And teacups under the stars...and so very much special and unique magic.

It is definately worth a visit.

That said....food at WDW is much better. DL's Tomorrowland is really sad.

I'm really getting excited to see all the new sights at a smaller, more intimate Magic Kingdom. I'm actually looking forward to the "smallness". I have MS and as much as I love WDW, it is a tough go for me sometimes.

Now, if I could just figure out where to stay...

I went to DL a few times when we lived in Ca. in the early '80s. We just went back again with the kiddos last month and we really enjoyed it. Yes, it is smaller than WDW but we enjoyed not having to walk 10 million miles! We also got a kick out of comparing attractions to the ones at WDW. Loved the Pirates ride at DL much better, IASW is better at DL too. Fantasmic was cool here with the Peter Pan segment instead of the Pocahantas one at MGM. While I love WDW, I really enjoyed our trip to DL.

We stayed at the Disneyland Resort and we couldn't get over how huge the rooms were! Also, it was great to have a 5 minute walk from your hotel room to DL or DCA! Awesome!

I would love to go back again!

My family and I went to DL and DCA this February. This is our second trip in 2 years. We love it. Love DL - feels like WDW with some different rides/attractions, some areas very quaint- don't miss eating at Blue Bayou, part of the Pirates of Caribbean ride. DCA is a mix of Epcot and MGM just not as grand. We are planning to go back for the 50th Anniversary,if possible.

The one & only time I was at DL was in March 2002. Went without kids, just DH & myself. Was first time we flew since 9/11. Enjoyed DL, but really enjoyed CA. Almost went back there this year, but opted for DCL Western instead. Hope to someday say I've been to all the Disney parks & on all the Disney cruises. Kathy

I have been fortunate enough to go to DL more times than I can count. My first trip was in the late 60's and I can still remember my sense of awe while riding POC! One of my favorite trips was Grad Night in '78 -- our senior class was very excited as several had never even been on a plane before. We arrived at Disneyland about 6 or 7 pm, had a big dinner and then got to run wild in the park all night long. Ahhh, the good old days! The one down side was the dress code...the girls were only allowed to wear a dress or pantsuit w/heels. Ouch!!!

Now, the best part -- we get to share all that magic with our kids.

I grew up near DL and it was always magical. The castle is much smaller, but some of the attractions are better. I still wish WDW had the Matterhorn, and the Indiana Jones ride is, IMO, much better than Dinosaur. Ditto Pirates. I enjoy DL and go whenever I get the chance, but overall I'd still pick WDW. (And when you go to DL, try to get to California Adventure. I thought it was a lot of fun - especially Soarin'.)

If you can't stay on property, there is a good Fairfield Inn right across the street within easy walking distance. Both the regular Marriott and Hilton are very close and both have good shuttles.
