Hello all, I have been on the Dis for a long time just do not post here to much. I also go on SS and CK message boards. I had a cute idea for a swap but am not sure I have enough people to do it. So here I am asking you, how many of you are Girl/boy scout leaders or have a child in them and would be interested in a related swap? I am in planning stages but will not take it any further if I do not get any interest!. Thanks Ladies.

Hi, I am a leader for 2 troops. Would definately be interested! I also see we are int he same service unit!!!

I have 2 sons in BS and will be going with them to BS camp next month. So I would love to be in this swap.

cool, I am getting a better response here then on the other boards. Great, I will start the final planning stages and see what happens from there.

Thanks

I am a GS leader (have been for 9 years) and have a son in BS - just have to finish his paperwork for Eagle! Depending on the nature of the swap I might be interested. WDWMom is also a GS leader and scrapper.

Hey Kaitlin's Mom - as you go through training keep in mind that you're going to get lots of information. Some of it may apply better than other bits. As I'm sure the other "veteran" leaders in your service unit and on these boards will tell you, the MOST important thing you can do is to provide a program that is safe and meets the needs/interests of YOUR girls. This becomes even more important as they get older!

:wave2: I just wanted to say hi! I don't have children in BS or GS yet but my husband is a board member of our BS council and he is an Eagle Scout, so for that reason I am saying HI.

Have a fun swap!

Yep, I'm a GS leader too. Would love to join a swap. Not sure how you would combine a boy and girl swap but I am always up for a challenge. Count me in and let me know the details.

Sorry to barge in here and go off topic, but I think we have our Mother/daughter GS crop off to a great start. I have found an LSS that will provide teachers and supplies at no cost to GS. Girls and moms can purchase items such as card stock and adhesive plus they will get prizes from supplies for FREE. I am so excited:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Sounds great Sue! Ok, taking this a littel further off topic. .. fill me in, is this your girls' leadership badge service project? Details, details...PM or email me if you'd rather!

Deb,

They are doing it for there Silver Award, sort of. Their Silver Award to going to scrapbook everything (or what is scrapable. Is that a word????) for our council that they have in the archives and pictures they can get from other troops that have done council events for the past 40 years.

Now to do your SA you have to do 3 IPP's they want to do a Troop's Own and make a scrapbooking IPP, Jr. Badge and Try-it or patch. So this is their Community Service part of their IPP. I hope this all makes sense???

If anyone is interested in the requirements for the patches and would like one once we get them made, let me know. I think the girls will have the requirement done by the end of June and then we need to find a place that will make the patches. Girls will get them at the M/D scrap but for those that want to earn them we will have them available.

Kewl! We sent in our proposal for our Silver Award about a month ago and thought we were set to go. The rest of the requirements are all done, just the actual project to do. Then out of nowhere we were told it had to be submitted to the special events committee. We hurried off a letter of explanation so it would get there in time for their meeting on May 19th, only to find out Thursday that the staff member that chairs this is out of the office until Tuesday. Not a big deal except we meet Monday and really needed to know if we're a go or have to come up with an alternate projcet.

Their project is weather dependent and would need to be done by end of Sept. Meaning if we go ahead with this one we will be meeting most of the summer. If we have to come up with an alternative, then the April 30th, 2005 deadline is reasonable.

Cross your fingers for us!
