One? two?

Some here seem to say 2, but when we tried to buy a second, we got the message that we already purchased one.

Going next week!

Each household can purchase a maximum of 2 placeholders (rooms) on a future cruise. Both reservations must be assigned to the same future cruise.

Wait, are you asking about booking a future cruise while onboard? Or just making a reservation for another cruise before you are onboard?

I was a bit confused by the title, too. I was wondering why DCL would put a limit on how future cruises one can book. Even if they end up cancelling the reservations and getting the deposits fully refunded, DCL would still get essentially interest-free loans.

I was asking about placeholders. I had forgotten that word, so it didn’t come out correctly. Ok…we would have been interested in buying two placeholders, but not for the same cruise. So, in our case, we can only book one. Ok.

Yeah, the only way to do that is if you have 2 reservations.

I travel with my mom. She has a different address. In the past I have been able to purchase one placeholder for me and one for her. I have not done this recently though. This was before the app.

Yeah, the only way to do that is if you have 2 reservations.

The only way, and I done this multiple times is if you do a b2b cruise, the DCL agent can apply one placeholder to first let and the 2nd room to the second leg. (I.e. both place holder was from the same original reservation) Yes, the rule is up to 2 place holder per household that must be used on the same sailing. With the loophole being b2b.

One lead person name listed in the placeholder must be on that sailing and in that exact room. Once you get onboard, you can reshuffle if you want.

Just clarifying for my own purposes:
Say I just got off a cruise, purchased a placeholder and would like to use it sometime early 2024.
If go on another cruise in 2023, will I be able to purchase another place holder to use in late 2024? Or must the cruise for the previous place holder be completed in order to purchase a 2nd place holder?

Easy to answer. Each cruise you can buy up to 2 placeholders. If you cruise 5 times in 2023, and bought place holders every time.

You can hold 10 place holders at one time. Only thing thing is each place holder has a lead adult. I.e. if husband and wife. Husband will have 5 & wife will have 5.

Disney doesn't care how many you hold as it tempts you to cruise again thus they make money anyways. It's more a reward for you for taking a cruise with DCL. Only negative thing is $250 x 10PH = $2,500 usd wrap up in placeholder.

Positive, if not used in 2 years = you get 100% funds back or you can enjoy 10% off qualified cruises.

*bonus, you can say cancel placeholders also if you need to funds to pay for the cruise also. Placeholder has expiration date so you can't move the savings forever anyways.

DCL doesn't care what order you use the placeholders in. As long as you use them up before the 2 years expires, you can use them in any order and you can 'hold'/have as many placeholders as you like, there's no limit.

I was successful in booking my 2 placeholders on a b2b for a 2022 cruise, but last year my TA tried to do this again and dcl said no. She even escalated it to a supervisor and they wouldn’t budge. So I had to cancel my second half. i buy them in case daughter wants to go. Since I used the one PH, the second one was useless to us.

Yes only one PH, unless you have multiple cabins. You can buy one for 2 cabins, but both have to be used on the same cruise. I always have placeholders waiting. Unfortunately I often have to cancel the second cabin one when family can’t use it.
