How many Fastpasses do you generally use in a day? What's the most you have ever used in one day? Does it vary from from park to park?

Yes it does. And from day-to-day, and season-to-season.

Sometimes you simply don't NEED to use them.
Depends on your timing.

Your return time will be further and further away as the day moves on. So, for example, if you get your first FP at 9.30 it could be for 10am or 10.10, then get your next one at 10.10 it could be for 10.50 and so on. In peak season, if you get an FP at 2pm it could be for as far away as 6pm. So the more you utilise FPs in the a.m. the better! If the standby line is less than 10 mins don't waste your FP opportunity there, get an FP for something busier/slower.

And if I remember correctly, you have to wait an hour before you can get a 2nd fastpass for a different ride.

If you get a Soarin fastpass at 9am, you have to wait until 10am to get a Test Track fastpass.

But it might actually be 2 hours...I can't remember. Anyone confirm this?

There is not a general "set time to wait".

Each FP will have a "specific" time, printed right on it, that says when the holder is free to obtain another FP for the same or different attraction within that park.

A FP for Splash Mtn. obtained at 11am MIGHT have a RETURN time (to ride) of 2:30pm, but it MIGHT have a time of, say, 12:20pm for the holder to be able to obtain another FP.

This is only a fictional example, but the return times and "another FP" times vary with the time of day and number of guests.

Our experience a couple of weeks ago was if the return time was less than 2 hours, we could get another FP after one hour. If the FP return was greater than 2 hours, we had to wait the full 2 hours before we could get another one.

When we were at AK two weeks ago, we arrived after noon (with 15-year-old DD we weren't getting there any earlier - can you say "messed-up circadian rhythm?" I knew you could... :teeth: ) and immediately got a FP for EE, with a return time of 6:00-7:00 (or thereabouts). We couldn't get another FP until after 2:00. So at our first opportunity, we got one for Kali, with a return of 5:30-6:30. We then had to wait another 2 hours, so just after 4:00 we got another for Kilomanjaro Safari returning 4:50-5:50. So at that time we held three valid FP for three different attractions.

Once the parade was over we did the safari (bypassing a 50 min standby line), walked over and rode Kali (60 min standby), then walked over and did EE (50 min standby). At no point did we wait longer than about 8 minutes and got all three done in less than an hour. That was almost as much fun as the rides themselves. :lmao:
