How many DVCers own points at more than one home resort?

We currently own 150 points at WLV and are trying to add another 100 pts at BWV. Has anyone else done something similar to this? Or does everyone try to get all their pts at the same resort?

Bill

I bought my initial 150 at VWL. Then I added on at BCV (only 50) figuring we would bank and borrow to have 150. Well so far we haven't banked anything! If it weren't for the dues, I would add on more right now.

I don't know how different we are in this area, but we specifically wanted both different resorts and different use years. It is helpful in getting 11 month reservations at both. And not having to worry so much about taking a trip towards the end of a use year as would happen if we just had one contract -- we can just use points from the other one.

Trickier keeping up with it, but not too difficult. We like having more options.

We have 270 OKW points to use for our big family summer vacations, 70 points at HH which we bank and borrow for every other spring break and 60 points at BCV for just my hubby and me the 2nd week of December every year.

We own different resorts with different use years. We have 230 September OKW points and 200 August BWV points. Both were bought on the resale market.

We own three contracts at two different resorts all with the same use year. We have 150 VWL, a 250 BWV and a 150 BWV all with September use years. Keeping them all the same use year was key. Even though the BWV contracts were resale, we have the same member number for all three. The two BWV contracts are also treated as one lump sum of points when reserving, banking and borrowing, so we can use both contracts' points across nights, etc. However, legally they are still separate and we could sell either one at any time if we wanted. It's really the best of all worlds!

We own at OKW(300 pts) and VB(200 pts).We have the same use year(sept) at both. Easier to keep track of. We like having the 11 month window on WDW property and ocean front.;)

We own a four resorts and three use years and like the setup so far...

Here is how we did it:

350 VWL (250 primary, 100 add-on) Feb
100 HHI add-on Feb
180 BCV add-on Feb
100 OKW resale Apr
270 BCV Second new contract Aug

We feel that the Feb and Apr are a bit too close together for multi use years making the admin/banking/transferring issues fun. Most times it is not an issue, but if life is busy and I fall behind on the details I fumble a bit... We just added another 270 on at BCV for an August use year. We did it this way so the two big contracts were six months apart. If we are going to bank at the six month window the next contract is refreshing itself. I am probably not explaining it well, but what is new... ;)

I think I can say we are done. If I buy any more points, Disney better start padding the rooms with rubber and provide white coats... :D

Another note, the smaller contracts are great. One little "gutcha" is; if you are booking a reservation for a non-home resort within the seven month window and have plans for a home resort/11 month ressie later in the year, be specific to MS which points to use. If they just pull from any account you may be short if you want to stay at a specific place.

Example: You have a primary 150 pt @ WVL and a 125 pt add-on @ BWV. At the 7-month window you call MS to stay @ OKW requiring 115 pts (made up point cost). MS pulls the 115 points from your account. In January you call MS at the 11 month window to book VWL for Christmas. When you make the ressie, the MS rep may say "Sorry you only 35 pts for VWL". This is because the prior ressie, they pulled from VWL leaving you with the BWV points. Most reps will ask which resort you want to pull from. At times we had to be very specific to prevent from being SOL. It actually just happened. The MS rep did some magic am did some shuffling to fix it.

You can do it, no horror stories.

Good luck and have fun!!!

Bill...we did virtually the same thing, with a few more points. We bought at VWL, then bought a resale contract for BWV. Different use year months, but our plan is to bank one contract and borrow the other each year and alternate locations.

This is easier to do if both contracts have the same amount of points. Maybe you should look for a 150 point BWV contract, then you could have 300 points at each of the resorts each year. Just a thought.

We own 225 BWV and 110 VWL. Both with the same use year, and it works out nicely for us :)

230 at BCV with a March use year and 70 at OKW with an August use year...

Two resorts - same use year. We have 150 at BWV and 232 at HH.

I have 4 different resorts with 2 use years. OKW and HH both have April use year, and BWV and VB both have August. I use the August use year mostly for my fall/winter vacations and April points more for summer/peak season at HH. It is a bit of work keeping up with it, but it's not a huge problem.

Two resorts--VWL 150 & BCV 100, same use year. If you're not committed to one resort (as many BWV folks are), then the flexibility is great, especially with the option to borrow. And if you stay at two resorts in one trip, Disney will transfer your luggage.

I'm so glad you asked! As of today, when we got the papers signed, notarized, we also own at VWL (175) and now at BCV (100). Same use year. I admire you people who have more than one use year and can keep them straight. I'm a math teacher, so pretty good with numbers, but it would be too confusing for me!

We own at BWV, VWL and BCV. The BWV contract has a different use year than the others. It really isn't a big deal to keep track of because it is only one month different (September-October)

:p Our family has 150 @ OKW and 210 @ BWV. We use each home resort every other year for max. points. Since we have a DS who is two, BWV is a great location for getting to the parks. :p

We own 450 points at OKW and just bought last year 150 at VB. We wanted the 11 month window for the cottages at VB. We have Sept use year at both. We like to stay in the GV and have now stayed in the cottages. They are both very very nice.

We have 215 BWV points, and then later added on 55 VB points... (I now wish that maybe we'd had bought more VB points when we had the chance though...... )
:p

We generally go to BWV for a week, and then have just enough pts to cap it off at VB for a few days...
