How Many DVC'ers out there are Parrotheads?

Jimmy is the best. Fell in love with his music many years ago on a trip to WDW so I always associate my 2 favorite things with each other.

Been to many concerts. He is the only person I will pay to see anymore.

Every summer I reread 'Where is Joe Merchant?' and 'Pirate looks at 50' I'm gonna have to buy new copies. The old ones are warped from getting wet by the pool.

His is the lifestyle that I envy the most.

Ummmmm. Check out my username! . My last sailboat was the Orion ( from Jolly Mon) and my present sailboat is the "Euphoria" ( J.B had a Euphoria). My then infant son was given a "son of a son of a sailor" receiving blanket from my sister. I bought and taught myself how to play the guitar for the sole purpose of playing his songs. CD's- have it. DVD's - got em. VHs- yup- Books- Got those too. Christmas ornaments, shirts, glasses, raincoat, been to Margaritaville-uh-huh. Do I qualify?

Oh, yeah!! DH and I are big Parrotheads! Sad thing is, we have yet to get to a concert. There has never been one within driving distance of us. We have decided that the next time there's a concert in Florida, we're going to book a DVC stay in WDW and drive wherever he is. Only way it will happen.

I've been a Buffett fan since Margaritavilla came out many years ago. Scary how long ago that was! Even the grandkids like him. Their fav song is "Math Sucks" - what else!?

We hit Margaritaville at Universal Studios every Orlando trip. Just gotta have that "cheeseburger in paradise".

Of course, I'm not quite sure what Jimmy thinks of WDW. In "Migration" he talks about all the old folks who move to Florida and buy mobile homes and how he wishes "a summer squall would blow them all away up to Fantasyland".

Me and the wife, too. Couldn't get tickets to Jones Beach this year. Would love to be there, though.

Got the kids hooked, too. It's the only music they'll let me play without turning it off!!
Missing Jones Beach this year.......it's move-in day at Hofstra!

I gotta go where it's warm!

Count us in! My DH and I are huge Parrotheads and our kids are on the same path! When my DS was 2 1/2 we were going to WDW and all he sang all the way there was Volcano! We got some friends to go to a concert last year with us who were not big JB fans and now they are always telling people that it was the best concert they have EVER been to, very close comparison to the Rolling Stones. They could not believe the atmosphere. We will be at the concert at the end of this month! And the to Margaritaville in Key West in Sept.!

Too many favorites to mention. I love them all for different reasons.

Kathy

OK - next DVC benefit: a Jimmy B concert just for DVC members. Place a barge in the water in between BWV and Y&BC and let the fun begin.

By the way, we have a Cheeseburger in Paradise down here too but I looked real hard and didn't see a single thing that linked it to Jimmy. In fact, it looked like they went out of their way to avoid any implied connection. Toooo bad.

I am a Parrot Head as well have been to see him a couple of times great shows. Favorite song is "A Pirate looks at Forty"

Add 2 more over 50 Parrot heads to the count. Every trip home requires a pilgrimage to Margaritaville at City Walk and we got the new Parrot Head license plate offered by Virginia. Even if you didn’t see my jeep’s license plate, just listen to the music from to the speakers. As the song title goes, “Growing Older But Not Up”. :drinking1 :rockband:

yep......27 shows so far right here at great woods (tweeter center)....no show this labor day, as jimmy will be playing fenway park!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whats a parrothead? j/k

I mad about the Fenway show, it ruined my summer I've been to at least one show each year since 87 not going this year too much money to get into a show with bad sound and no tailgaiting!

Buffett Tattoo (caribbean soul lizard)
Vanity Plate (a cut down version of Margaritaville i dont want to post on the web)

Favorites: Pirate looks at 40
Thats what living is to me
Nautical Wheelers
Love in the Library
Little Miss Magic
Quietly Making Noise
One Paticular Harbor ok I'm going to stop now I'd just keep going

Count us in as well!! Dh and I and 2 "parakeets"!! My Dh thought OKW was the best since so much of Buffet's music was playing almost all the time.

Missed his shows this year due to a move but we'll be back next year!!

From the boxed set of CDS released years ago called something like "Beaches, Boats, ....." there is a booklet enclosed. On the inside cover, maybe in the back is a picture of the lawn seats at Riverbend Music Center at Coney Island in Cincinnati, Ohio. I am wearing a green hawaiian shirt and Disney straw hat with a red band on it. I am near the girl in the pink top holding the shark.

They used to have up to 4 sold out shows a year in Cincinnati, but lately only one and usually during the week, so I have not been since 2001. I did not even try to get tickets this year, but my wife still tells everyone, I'm in the book and then shows them if they do not beleive it. I'm not really sure where the book is at.

Another Parrothead here. I've been a big fan for years. Saw Jimmy last in Columbus in May. GREAT concert. I've had the pleasure of being on stage twice one summer (several years ago). Got a upclose seat on the stage during the Stump the Band segment in Columbus and Cleveland. Got a video of that part of each show, signed box set, shook hands with Jimmy - and got a kiss!!!

I'm a bigger Peter Mayer fan (Jimmy's lead guitar player). He has his own band and they are great. Very different music than Jimmy. Pete is truly talented and one of the nicest people you could ever meet (and that goes for his brother Jim and the rest of the band). Check out petermayer.com for a concert near you. Also, I REALLY miss Club Trini before the concerts. It was one of my favorite things to do at a JB concert.

(I really don't care for the new LTC album. Too country for me.)

Fins Up!!!

We are Parrotheads who own at OKW (where else?) We haven't been to a show in a few years because he doesn't come to Memphis any more. I listen to a lot of the concerts on his internet radio station.

The book that you are refering to is the " Parrothead hand book" and it came from the Boats Beachs Bars and Ballads box set sold in 1992. That is so cool that you are in the picture, my dream some day is to meet JB, he really is my hero. How many of you out there have met Bubba? And what was he like? Another thing is what do you think JB would think of OKW? I bet he would like it, what is there not to like.

Mr Buffet setting on the motherload (a pile of silver bars) from the Atocha playing tunes. July 20,1985. The day I became a parrothead.
pirate:

I'm not (although I like Buffett) my Best Friend and her fiance are Parrotheads to the extreme. The are going to Lowell Spinners this Saturday as part of a Parrotthead Club Gathering of some sort.

Maybe some of you all are heading in that direction too?

Two Parrotheads and three Parakeets here!

I've been a fan for a looooooong time. Like tax58 I started listening to him when he came to Memphis, because he came into the office where I worked! Very nice man!

Haven't been to one of his shows in way too long because they are all out of town for us now. The last one was when I was pregnant with my first DS, which might explain why he sings along with all the songs now. :scratchin My favorite song is One Particular Harbor. DH still puts that on the stereo when he sees that I'm a little down (what a guy!)

I think that's why we chose OKW for our home resort.
