How many Disney vacations.....

do you take a year and how much do you budget for each trip? Do you take other trips other than Disney the same year?

We (2 adults 1jr and 1 child) usually do Disney once a year, probably spend $1500 and stay off property. However this year we camped at Fort Wilderness for 10 days and spent about $3500. We usually do a long weekend at the beach and then maybe a long weekend to Gatlinburg and then do several weekend camping trips. Just curious as to how many times people do Disney in a year. Do you ever get tired of it?

I'd love to go more often, but we get to WDW every 12 to 18 months. We live in New Mexico and plane tickets to get there for our family can be pretty steep. We have stayed at BWV, BWI, AKL, POFQ and POR. I budget $4000. If the choice is new furniture or WDW, WDW wins everytime(thus the old furniture falling apart in our house!)

Never get tired of it! Have to defend our going this often to people all the time, tired of that.

This will be our 3rd time in disney this year (total of 21 days). The budget really depends on the trip. We do take other vacations this year we were in colorado for a week, St. augustine FL for a week and we will be going to visit family for 2 weeks in Christmas and we are going to asheville nc for new years. We do little trips for 4 day weekends so far this year we did a weekend in bald head island, DC and myrtle beach. We usually try to go international once a year but because of DH job he couldn't take more than 1 week at the time this year so it wasn't worth for us to go somewhere far for just a week.

We go one time a year, Nov or Dec due to weather in the North.

Book 9-11 months out, average stay...8 days

First time flying SWA, used Delta in the past.

Use split stays due to cost, try to stay at Shades of Green if not sold out.
Always on Disney grounds since 2001.

Discovered dining offsite last year, saved money.

Rent car thru Avis with good codes.

We do Disney every other year and we then go for three trips. We get an annuall pass in September and we stay on property. In March/April we stay off property and then following September we stay on property. We get the most out of those passes every year we buy them.

We hardly ever go. The first trip in 2003 was just to see it once -- completely budget (All stars 4/3 deal). ISTR total came under 2K.
The second time was 2007 I forget why but basically I guess because the younger kid was only 2 the first time -- not fair to her. We spent a wee bit more POFQ value season but less days.
This year I think DH must have robbed a bank? He wanted to go last minute in summer but there was nothing reasonable, then he wanted to go xmas week but TA said that meant 2 hour lines (which sounded awful to me) so we are doing the free dining first time. Yay!
We are doing 5 nights at Coronado, with airfare comes to approx 2.5K plus we added 3 nights at universal with tickets so total would be just under 4K.
That's a lot from my pov.
:faint:

We do 3 weeklong vacations every year. We take one trip with just our immediate family, right now Me, Wifey, and DS3, although another DS will be joining us in March. This trip has been Disney the past two years and will probably continue to be until the kids get old enough to want to go somewhere else. We take one trip just Me and Wifey, this is usually somewhere in the Caribbean. And we take one trip with one of our families, rotating families each year. This trip is usually to the beach, almost always Myrtle Beach.

We usually go twice a year for a week at a time. We skipped this year, but are going for 3 weeks next year. We budget about 8K per trip.

We average 1 time per year. Sometimes we take two trips in one year and then skip a year. Most of our trips are a week, but the last couple have been 9 or 10 days. We average $3500-$5000 per trip. This includes renting DVC points for a studio or staying in a deluxe property (this last trip was 10 days at CSR though), airfare for three, towncar transportation, park hoppers, food (we do not skimp on food) tips and extras. Sometimes we do Cirque , MNSSHP, etc. We are not souvenier people...if we spend $50 per trip on them, that is a lot for our family.

In addition to going to WDW, we take other vacations during the year. We usually take 2-3 vacations each year. This year it was two (10 days in WDW and 1 week in Palm Springs), and next year it will be two (1 week in Palm Springs and 3 weeks in Hawaii). We don't have a WDW trip planned in the near future.

We normally go once very 3 years as a family and budget about 3,000.00 for the 4 of us. We drive so we don't have to worry about airfare.

Last year was an anomoly (gee, is that how you spell it?) and we went alot more than usual but several times were just for a 3 or 4 day weekend.

Yup, we take other trips too. Usually a couple of short ones to places. This year we'll be going to the beach for a long weekend over Thanksgiving in addition to the disney trip we had earlier this year.

As we have driven the past two trips to save even more

Hey, how long does it take you to drive usually? Just curious.
I wanted to try driving but dh didn't want to consider it -- too stressful for him, he says. :)

After reading through all of these posts, I must comment again......WE SURE DO SPEND A LOT OF MONEY ON DISNEY WORLD!!! GEEZ! I should just sign over the rest of my life earnings to Mickey now cause he'll get it anyway! :lmao:

We got at least once a year, depends on who is going (just DH and I vs us plus the 2 kids) and when as to what we spend. We usually look at our budget and then decide accomidations, etc. Our last trip wa 6 days for around $1600 that includes getting upgrades to AP's BUT we drove this trip (we were doing it on a tight budget). Of course when we have AP's we go more, this year will probably be 4 times before they expire. Twice more alone and one family vacation w/ the kids.

We also do other famliy vacations (if it were my choice it would be all Disney all the time). We always do one other plus Disney. Last year was Seattle and Daytona, the year before Myrtle Beach. This year was an exceptionally busy year: We got married, honeymooned in Texas (San Antonio, Austin, and Houston), went on a mission trip to NYC, spent a week in Williamsburg, VA and then went to Disney. We also usually hit a nascar race or two for a long weekend.

For me when I re-caught the bug as an adult it's been 2001, 02, 04, 07 (bad illness between 04 and 07), 08, 09. So in May 09 we decided not to go back for 2 years. Do something else blah, blah, blah.

We leave a week Thurdsay for 7 days. :rotfl: We are going to FL. again in May 2010 but not supposed to do Disney. We'll see how that goes! :rolleyes1 Then some relatives and friends started talking about a ladies trip at the end of 2010. How can I miss that?! They don't know all this stuff. They need me to plan. I can't plan and not go. :thumbsup2

Point is as much as I try to go elsewhere it really is budget friendly (compared to the other stuff I want to do) and it keeps pulling me back in.

our last trip (9/27-10/3) came in right about $1700 give or take a few bucks for POP, park hopper, MNSSHP. we had free dining, so that saved some money. even though we did buy A LOT at food and wine fest! i'd say we spend around $2k for our trip. we didn't buy many items to bring back (no room in the car!).

we try to go every other year or so, but with me not working, it maybe 2 or 3 years before we can go again.

hubby will have more vacation days (3 weeks) starting next year so if we go, we can spend a few more days than normal and still have enough days left for our trip to baltimore to visit his family...at least that trip is pretty cheap...food and gas only!

Last year we went eight times. This year, it will only be two because my main WDW partner, my DD, just had me a DGS!! :cloud9: The costs really depends on what kind of trip it is for us. If we are doing the big blow out at BC for a week, atleast $6000. If we are doing a long weekend trip or a quick trip, then $1200-$2000. I have done a weekend when DD and DS were little for about $600. Not included in the eight times, is the trip I made right before Christmas--it was a day trip to shop at DTD. I went down early in the morning, shopped all day and got home about 1 AM. We don't stay offsite but we have favorites in all resort types, and depending on what we are doing while there, we pick the room appropriately. For our December trip this year, we are staying at ASMu because I am going for the fun trip and to take lots of teens and the new DGS for a couple days. No matter how much I spend, where I stay, or how long I'm there, I always am sad to come home to reality!!
