How many days to start in each park?

We are FINALLY going to Disneyland early next year! We're about to purchase tickets and make park reservations. Although we're getting park hopper tickets, I'm not sure which park to start in each day. We'll have four total park days (Friday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday). How many days should we start in Disneyland and how many should we start in each park? Also, any tips for things to do on the weekend since we're avoiding parks those days?

In general, I would recommend doing 3 days of Disneyland start and one day of California Adventure start. But it can depend on some factors such as what season it is, what the park opening times are and how much you like certain rides.

As for what to do on the weekend, it also depends on if you have a car. If you are driving, you can go see things in Los Angeles, Santa Monica, etc. If you don't have a car, the options are going to be more limited. In these cases, you may want to swim at your hotel, have some meals at Downtown Disney or the Disney hotels, etc.

There's a few unknowns at this point, so it's a little hard to answer. For example, Genie+ and LL are supposed to be available by then, and if you purchase those, you probably won't need to worry about getting on everything you want at least once. It will be interesting to see how the actual experience shakes out by then, what it does to standby lines, etc.

I agree with gelatoni, that I'd probably start 3 days in Disneyland. There's more to do, and more that is likely to have higher wait times later in the day.

The other thing, and I hope others chime in on this, is that you might want to reconsider one weekend day. In the Before times, Sunday was often surprisingly better, crowd-wise, than Tuesday. It depends on what shows and parades they may have brought back by then; in January you will likely only be able to see those on the weekend, i.e. Friday, Sat., Sun. Those will be fireworks nights; and if the fireworks are cancelled due to high winds or inclement weather, it gives you more opportunity to try again another weekend night.

Good luck, and keep an eye on these boards for when Genie+ starts, to see how that's affecting things and whether you'll want to purchase it! I hope you have a wonderful trip!

When next year were you thinking?
Park hours vary greatly depending on the time of year. In Jan and Feb the parks open late and close early.

I have no idea what Disney will be doing now. If you want an idea of Historical Hours check out this thread.

If you want to know what’s happening through out the year scan through the info in this thread.

Which park you start in determines which boarding group you can try for at the start of the day (although that may change when Genie+/Lightening Lanes start). I would factor in how much you want to ride Rise of Resistance vs. Web Slingers.

It all depends on your interests. As someone who does the thrill rides over and over I’ve found DCA is slightly better to start at but you want to start at each park at least once
