How Many Days Should Our Trip Be?

I'm so confused! :scared1:

We were originally planning our trip from Tuesday, 9/26/06 to Sunday, 10/8/06 (12 nights.) Most of our trips have been 11-12 nights & we've been pretty happy with that.

Now, when I check the airfare, it costs us an extra $60/ticket to fly home Sunday instead of Saturday 10/7 (which cuts our trip short a day  ) So, hubby suggested we add a day onto the beginning instead. However, if we fly out Monday, I'll just be sitting home all weekend, when I could be at Disney!!! The resort is cheaper at the beginning of the trip since Value season ends 10/4 & the airfare is the same cheaper rate if I fly out earlier, rather than later. So confusing! :scared:

So, has anyone gone for 14 nights - & did you enjoy it? Is this too long, or does it make the trip more relaxing with more days to do everything?? Any input would be greatly appreciated!! :worship: :)

The most we have gone is 9 nights, but I can't imagine not liking 14. We definately could have stayed longer. We have been joking that we are going to add on another night each year. This summer will be 10 nights so just a few more years until we are up to 14!

We generally try to go for 14 days (once even 16 days) and it is never too long for us. I feel the time gives us to opportunity to take things slowly and not rush through everything along with time to do some of those other things (i.e. fishing, mini-golf etc.). We were there at the beginning of December for 13 nights and could have easily stayed longer.

Our longest trip so far was 12 nights last February. Except for the fact that we caught a stomach bug during the second half and were extra worn out from that, we could have easily stayed another 2 nights! I say go for it if you want to. :)

BTW, we'll be there around that time too! DH surprised me last night...we're staying 5 nights at the Poly, Sept 30-Oct 5! Only 5 nights for us, but we'll be back in early 2007... :)

Longest I went was for 12 nights in May of last year. I also lost a day and a half to food poisoning. I'm as big a Disney World fanatic as anyone, and I was ready to come home.

We went for 13 nights las t summer and I could've stayed another week no problem!

There's so much non-park things to do that even on a day you won't be visitin parks, you'll find there's plenty to do.

Not to worry! I have done 9-10 days beginning with a Monday a couple of times already in the interest of airfare savings and I worked it out by last-minute packing and getting psyched for the trip - starting the mental "vacation" on Friday - took the kids to dinner and movie, watching out Disney tapes or DVD's, etc. For me, it feels less rushed to leave on Monday when everyone else is back to work or school. We are happily heading to a plane on Monday morning for our magical trip that way!!

BTW - I think that is a perfect LOS. Enjoy!

We were there for eight nights and we feel like we missed so much. I imagine two full weeks would be great! I wish we could stay that long!

If you check in during value season, then you get that rate for the whole stay unless you switch hotels or something.

Tammy is right. Unless you are switching hotels your entire stay will be value season. And if you are switching hotels I'd adjust things so you've got the most expensive hotel at the beginning and the cheaper one at the end.

My suggestion is to plan something non-Disney in your trip that you could do for a day. There is a LOT to do in Orlando. With the money you save on your airfare and hotel...rent a car for those extra two days and explore.

Thanks everyone for your great advice!! :teeth:

The only reason I mentioned the rate changing is because we are hoping to have an AP rate with our AP's & due to the change in season - I believe AP rates are based on each day - & not given to you from your check-in day. It seems like Disney is in the process of changing their AP rate policies again, so we'll see how it all works out.

Right now we are leaning towards the 14 day trip: Sat 9/23 - Sat 10/7. That affords us the best airfare & I'm looking forward to a longer stay. We'll have AP's so we can go in & out of the parks as we please throughout our trip! :goodvibes

My hubby also has some military training school he will be attending from the beginning of May to the middle of September out in Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. I'll get to visit every couple weeks, but I'm sure we'll enjoy spending 2 weeks together at that point! ::yes:: :teeth:

I think I could stay there for a month!!
I say add the weekend and have fun!!
I am jealous!

Do it Do it DO IT!!

We just spent four days at Disneyland, which is basically a much smaller scale of WDW (only two parks) and we really pushed. We were only able to work in a couple of things at CA, but were able to do most of DL park.

After our experience there, I am now worried that our 8 days at WDW this May is no where near enough. My biggest regret is the pressure I felt to work in all of the rides and a show or two and thus we didn't get to "just experience" the overall feel of the park and its beautiful surroundings.

Beware of getting caught up in trying to do it all. It's a very easy thing to do.

Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy your 14 days and soak up the sights, which is what makes Disney unlike any other place you will go. :)

Thanks for all the great advice! I think we're going to go for it - it's really not much longer than we usually go for & we both have enough vacation time this year, too! :cool1:

Looking forward to a nice, more relaxing trip! :teeth:
