How many days out for Hurricane Cancellation

I'm thinking that before Charley (we were there), MS and CRO waited until Thursday morning to allow penalty-free cancellations with the hurricane due Friday night. This time it is due Tuesday, and is currently projected to be heading straight for Orlando, once again. I'm asking because I rented some points, and the family is leaving Sat. morning from TN (driving) to check into BCV on Sunday. They are hoping for something more definitive tomorrow. How much leeway did they allow for Hurricane Frances? They are closed on Sunday, trying to get through on Monday won't be much fun.

For Frances I was able to cancel on Wednesday afternoon and I believe the hurricane hit on Saturday. So, about 3 days before the hurricane hit Orlando. Using that logic, I would think that they would start to allow penalty free cancellations starting Saturday (a day when MS is not open).

Which brings another question, would I be able to cancel through CRO, or by calling the resort? By Monday, it's too late.

Just got off the phone with MS and I was told they just made the decision to waive any penalties. You can cancel and your points will be put back into your account.

I was also told that you can call down to the resorts over the weekend and cancel and then call MS on Monday and they would take care of moving the points back.
