How Long Should You Stay On Site At Disney We Are Staying For Eight Days

Because we can only go every other year or so right now I would not go unless I could stay for at least 7 days. If we could go more frequently then I would contemplate a 4 day long weekend type of thing just to fill that WDW fix :rotfl:

Is this a trick question??

However many days you can go is never enough.

I've gone for a week and then I've also gone for an afternoon. You make the best of the time you have. :)

mjem216 -- Is this your first visit to Disney -- and do you mean Walt Disney World (WDW)? It depends on what time of year you are going, how much you will be able to see and do in an 8-day visit to WDW -- it's huge. I usually try to go for 10-12 days, altho by the end of that time, I'm exhausted and thinking I should have stayed a day or two less. But then, I quickly realize all the things we didn't see or do during the time there. Some people go for 21 days and are able to have a very relaxing time. Lots of people go for only 5 days and have a good time without feeling that they've missed a lot.
Be sure to read all the hints and tips you can in these forums/fora and get a good guidebook (I like the Unofficial Guide, but there are many good ones).
Welcome to DIS (and it's better to use fewer caps in your typing -- lower case is preferred -- unless you're Ty Pennington!).

We always try to stay for 9 days at the least. But we're really big on down time in our vacation. We love just being able to lay around the pool or hotel hop. One day I'd love to go for two weeks.

I think it depends on a couple of things like if you've been there before? do you have small children? etc. The first time we went, a week was just about right for us but it's always nice to stay a few more days. This last time was for two weeks and to me it was just a little too long to do just WDW but it did leave more time for me to hang around in my Hammock at the Polynesian!. :woohoo: Next time I think we will do some other things along with WDW such as the Space Center and other things around Florida along with a week at WDW. Okay, I'll be serious now. I don't think you can do it all on one trip (unless your staying for 20-30 days), but since we've been so many times our trips are usually 5-6 days. If I knew I was only going once a year or once every few years I think it would call for at least 7-8 days, maybe 10. Now we go in Jan and do disney for 5 days and visit in-laws and the beach for 5 days. Seems to work out well.

That's such a tough question. If your mission ot see every.single.thing then you won't do it in eight days. If you have small kids, things are going to take longer.

We're spending 6 days at WDW and I feel like that's a good amount of time but more is good too. :)

I think that if you have the time and money 7 to 10 days is probably a good window to shoot for. I'll be there for 9 days in December and I can't wait! Enjoy your trip!

Each time we go, we think we have enough time for whatever we want to do. Each time, we leave something undone. Reason to go back! :thumbsup2

In the late 70's, our trips started at 5 days and have progressed through the years to begin at 8 nights. We tend to push more to 11-12 nights, to me at least, have the price of going is the travel expense. Instead of 2 trips per year at 5-6 nights and double the travel expense, we do a big 11-12 night stay and only pay once for travel. We seem to be squeezing in 2 trips anyway, kids are grown and married and we're approaching our 60's and moneys alot freer now. Disney vacations seem to lighten our load at home the mundane and stress of work and life in general and we like to alway have either a Disney cruise or trip in the works, something to look forward to.

Back to the subject, 4-5 nights is okay to see Disney but its a go, go trip, hardly relaxing to see and do most things. We like to relax and use the ammenities at the resort, we prefer deluxe, and an eight night stay is a good beginning. Anymore days you can go or afford to tack onto this length would be very pleasurable. We never go to Sea World or Universal, no time to go there even on extended stays at Disney and everything we like is right at Disney, no need to go further. The longer the stay, the cheaper the tickets, more fun you can have, more things you can see and do and the best of all, the more relaxed stae you'll be in when returning home, not overwhelmed and beat.

Pretty much until I've spent every last dime. :rotfl2: Generally we like to stay at least 10 days. Next year though we are going in November so it will only be for 5 days because of school but I'm still excited. :Pinkbounc

Hi,
We all stay for different lengths of time, for various reasons - but what I would say......is plan!!!
Start by putting a "must see" list together, and some rest time, cos you'll be tired!!!
I always do a planner for our trips, well I did when the kids were small! It really helps, to get the most out of your time at WDW!!
We've stayed for 1 day (MK),3 days, 7 days, right up to a 14 night stay at CBR.
Whatever time you have at WDW... have a ball!

Yeah, I agree that trying to stay a week or more is wonderful. Honestly, I've had 2 trips when we only were there for just a day, and even that was GREAT. One thing my family prioritizes is travelling and making memories that way (we're military, what can I say?). We drive Kia's because luxury vehicles aren't our priority. We don't exactly have a big savings for a house yet, nor do we have any matching furniture in our bedroom. We're vacation people. Plain and simple. :-) I'm going to 8 nights (makes for 9 days).

It really depends on what you want all you want to do.
If I had the money and vacation time, I'd take 2 trips each year and I'd make each one 2 weeks. But that's because I'd want to visit all the disney parks, both universal parks, sea world, and still have rest and relaxation days.
If I was just visiting the Disney parks, I'd like to have 1 day at Animal Kingdom, 2 days at Disney-MGM, 2 days at Epcot, and 2 days at Magic Kingdom. That's 7 theme park days and I'd like some rest days in between, so I'd say 10 or 11 nights would be optimal.
