This is our first time planning a trip to DL (been to WDW several times) and we are looking at going 10/28-11/4/09. I'm curious as to how many days we will need for the two parks (it will be me, DH and DS7).

We would like to do more than just DL (Knotts Berry Farm, Medieval Times, etc. as examples). Can we get away with a 2 or 3 day PH tix?

Thanks!

I followed all the tips, read Hydroguys info & planned like crazy!!!

We did both parks in 2 days in January '08. It was very slow, quiet & we walked onto every ride but Nemo. No FP was ever used.

We did skip larger rides like Space MOuntain, Matterhorn & Tower of Terror bc my DS was just 3.

If you plan - anything is possible! On day 3 we went to Newport, rented a bike & had clam chowder & had a leisurely day to recoup!

First of all, you need to read Hydroguy's excellent tip thread, specifically the guides for WDW vets: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1520483

I'd recommend 3 day park hoppers at minimum. That way, you are getting at least one Magic Morning, which comes with 3- or more day hoppers.

Even better is 4 or 5. Then you can go at a leisurely pace, take midday breaks, and do all your favorites more than once.

As far as days per park, because the two parks are literally one minute's walk across the Esplanade from each other, most people hop from park to park as DL gets crowded. See also on that Tips thread: "Why I Parkhop at DLR"

We have stayed for 5 days-- arrival day afternoon/evening, 3 full days, and departure day morning and early afternoon. It always seems perfect for us!

Also-- Halloween time is very busy at the parks, especially the weekends! Because of the Mickey Trick or Treat parties in CA on the weekends, and just because of the extra decorating, theming, etc. the parks are pretty much nuts. You might want to avoid Halloween weekend unless you really want to do the ToT party. Maybe you could do your other parks and sightseeing over Halloween weekend?

Have a great time planning! Hope you enjoy Walt's park! :goodvibes

we are only doing 3 in half this time (only reason for 4thday is because the night show that night.

3 days would be plenty an have fun at medieval times. Pay the extra 10 if you can it gets you up front. we were front row I liked it alot

Thanks for the tips everyone! Hydroguys info was a big help that I even forwarded the link to DH so he can take a look :thumbsup2. We didn't realize that there is a lot to do in both parks.

JadeDarkStar - ::yes:: we have upgraded a few times when we have gone to Medieval Times in the past, mostly when we have gone to celebrate my birthday and our DS's (we're two days apart). We've been mostly to Lyndhurst, NJ (our "home" castle) as well as the Kissimmee castle. We're looking forward to visiting the CA castle.

We've been 3 times at 3 days each and its always worked out perfectly. We always get to go back and do our favorites (sometimes 3 times each like this past week w/ Pirates, Pooh, and Teacups!) and see all the parades and shows AND took an afternoon break 1 day and left early the last day.

If I have the vacation time, I like to plan 3 days....spend the 1st day entirely at one of the parks......on the 2nd day visit the other park. On both days, we do not rush and take our time to enjoy the park.

On the 3rd day ( to go back to visit all the rides that I missed or enjoyed a 2nd time ), go back to DCA in the 1st half of the day then head over to DL in the 2nd half of the day.

The key here is that Disney Family and I don't have to rush since we have that 3rd day to enjoy the parks again.

We have always done 4 or 5. Gives us time not to rush since we go in mid August and always use the FP's. We also add a day for USH since we are film nuts.
