How many days for a first trip?

I guess personally, we just don't care for California Adventure as much as Disneyland. We enjoy most all of the rides/experiences at Disneyland while only a handful at CA (Soarin', TSMM, Grizzly, Monster's Inc., RSR, Mater, Screamin' and maybe Ariel). There just isn't that much over at that park compared to Disneyland, IMO.

Edited to add: We're from out of state and get to the parks once or twice a year.

DL definitely has more but I felt like it wasn't all that different than Magic Kingdom except for a handful of rides that were hit or miss for me. I just posted a trip report if you are interested in my comparisons but if I never go on Nemo or Matterhorn again I would be fine. And Pinocchio, Alice and Toad were cute but they aren't must-dos for us. Indiana Jones was the only thing that was a totally new "wow ride" for us there. DCA is very different than WDW and I wonder if that's maybe why the out of towners/WDW people may really like it?

I'm a local and I love DCA! Absolutely love it! DL will always be my favorite but there is so much to love about DCA. Even with many visits under my belt there are things I've yet to do there that I really want to (like ride GRR, eat at WCT and see the neon lights come on in Carsland).

Thanks. We are planning to go the end of august. Not sure how that impacts crowds.

If it is busy (which seems like always now) I'd say 5 days, but a minimum of 3 if that's not possible. I really feel a hopper is essential at DLR. I'd take a 3 day hopper over a 5 day 1 park per day.
