How many days before will DCL not accept reservations

Our cruise leaves in three days and I was just wondering if they ever close out the cruise for that date and don't accept reservations a certain amount of days before the cruise . If they do, when does that happen?

I believe above is correct but if you call 1 or 2 days before they may let someone book. I have heard of it happening in the past.

I would assume people that live in the Orlando/Tampa area have been known to book on very short notice when the FLR rates are available. Just like people in my area decide on Thursday night their going to Vegas for the weekend.

Everything online is pulled 3 days prior to the cruise -- so you would not be able to book/change/add port adventures/spa etc. once you hit the 3 day mark. If you needed to book or change a reservation at that point, you would have to call DCL and they could help you up to the morning of.

why do u think that is? I can get on a plane at the last minute, providing I have a pocket full of $$$$$. Certainly a few more people on board DCL won't ruin the food provisions, or would it? I mean, they load up hours before departure.
Maybe it has do do with security scans? Are we being vetted before boarding?

This is interesting...to me

Consider the port terminal to be like the gate area at an airport -- it is available only to ticketed passengers. At airport you can walk up to a counter to make a reservation prior to entering the secured area, the port terminal is only open to those passengers with a reservation. It's for security purposes, and yes cruise manifests are provided to various government agencies in the US as well as the other ports. As for pulling the cruises from the online system, I think that's just for DCL to get it all organized. You can certainly call up to the day before to book a cruise, possibly day-of though I haven't heard of anyone specifically doing so. But you must call and have that reservation number or you cannot access the port terminal.

Enjoy your cruise!

Are you asking this as a general question, or are you hoping for a port upgrade?

I asked the check in desk this question when we were at the port for our last cruise. They will make reservations the morning of the cruise if it is available. I asked because I was heading to the upgrade desk next and knew there were not many rooms open 3 days before when the cruise was still available online.

On a Magic galley tour about 10 years ago the guide explained that the ship loads meat types based on the passengers, shifting the amounts of beef and chicken to reflect the states (and countries) of the passengers on a particular cruise. After years of tracking passenger consumption (not by the person but by the cruise) and analyzing the biographical data, Disney could predict the relationship between passenger type and generalized meat consumption and tweak their needs...I have always found that fascinating.

That really is fascinating. It makes perfect business sense, but I never would have thought to track something like that.

I believe that it has to do with the fact that they have to provide the passenger manifest to port authorities a certain period of time prior to sailing. Most cruise lines now want to be able to have a complete manifest with all information 72 hours advance to ensure that they're prepared. So while it's probably possible for them to manually add a few people at the last minute, they don't want to be in a situation where they've got dozens of people trying to book and not having all of the information that they require in time. And, as others have mentioned, you have to have a valid reservation to get into the terminal due to security - you can't just wander in and buy passage.
