We are coming to Disney August 6th. We have five days at the park. Right now we have two days at Magic Kingdom, one at Animal Kingdom, and one at Epcot. We have done anything yet with the fifth day. Our kids are 16, 14, 6 and 5. The 5 and 6 year old have never been to Disney. I didn't really plan on doing HS as I don't think there is enough there for the little ones. Do you think we need three days at Magic Kingdom or spend the other day at another park?

I agree with keeping HS out of the picture, there's something about that park I just don't connect with. In August, the more days at MK the better. We are doing 7 nights and plan on doing MK 4x at least, so I would go with MK 3x Epcot 1x and AK 1x for you IMO.There are 3 overall sections of the park so you could also do 3 days at MK and focus on one section each time to reduce walking for your 6 and 5 year old. Or you could do a split day scenario if you have hopper tickets.

HS is toast to my family (except for Star Tours and the restaurants), but it may be worth it for yours if they've never been before. Just don't plan on staying a whole day there. 3 days at MK is overkill, I would do 2 at MK, 1 Full day at AK, half day at HS and the other half back at Epcot along with another full day at Epcot.

We do half a day at Epcot, half a day at AK, and all the rest of our time at MK. So 10% at other parks, 90% at MK.

I think DHS is in a sad state, but, in your case, I think it may actually be a full day park, as you have littles who have never been there. The bulk of what is there for little ones now are shows, so if you have already seen those to your satisfaction, it may be hard to make a full day out of DHS. However, with kids who have never been there, the Little Mermaid, Disney Junior, Beauty and the Beast, and Frozen shows will all be fresh and new. My kids also both love Fantasmic!, but YMMV. For your older kids, RNRC and ToT are amazing.

However, I completely get the desire to spend as much time at the MK. On our last trip, we spent at least some part of 4 out of 6 park days at the MK. We had hoppers, though, which it doesn't sound like you will have.

i would say there's enough to do at HS to warrent going.
it has 2 of the best thrill rides at disney world if your older kids are into that.
it has several shows that the younger kids would enjoy.
is it gonna be a full day park? no but AK isn't either.
2 days at MK is my standard recommendation. i don't think i'd suggest going for 3 full days there.

I'm in the minority here but I love Hollywood Studios! The whole vibe of the place is amazing. My kids ages 4,5,7 and 9 loved it as well.
I would for sure spend a day there :)

Do y'all split up? My SIL, her husband, and their children and grandchildren went to WDW in April. The kids range from 2-6. They spent every day at the MK except one when they went to the AK. A couple of nights, SIL and her DH watched the kids while the parents went to Epcot and DHS.
If your group does split up, the older ones could go to DHS becau e if they're like a lot of teens, they like thrill rides.

There is a lot at HS we don't do every time, but your kids might like, such as Indiana Jones and Lights, Motor, Action stunt show. There is the Muppets movie, Little Mermaid Show, Toy Story Midway Mania ride, Tower of Terror (my kids loved it at 5 and 6), Star Tours, Beauty and the Beast, Frozen stuff I have never done, and the Honey I shrunk the kids playground. Sci Fi Dine in Theater is also a favorite of ours, plus there is Fantasmic at night. Older kids might like Rock N roller coaster

Two days at Magic Kingdom has always been plenty for my family. If you are staying that long, I'd recommend going to Hollywood Studios at least one day.

I echo what others have said...HS might be a hit with your younger kids. My 6 year old would do two days there!

I agree. Something about that HS is just not right. lol. I found the layout so confusing. It was hard to find shade and we were just frying (early July). The park felt empty. We thought that was good ... until we went to the ABC Commissary for lunch and that's where everyone was! It was PACKED. Ugh. Maybe the park is more enjoyable in cooler weather, but it's a half-day park for us (more likely no-day). AK is a full day for us. And we never get tired of MK.

We love MK, but would never do a 3rd day at a park at the expense of leaving one out. And, from my perspective, HS has more to appeal to the younger kids than Epcot does. Finally, if the 5 and 6 year olds have not been to Disney before, I'm going to read into that and assume it's been a while since the older kids have. At their ages, they may really enjoy RNR and TOT.

I understand, though I don't agree, why people get 'tired' of HS. But, for someone that has not done the park multiple times, it actually has a lot of interesting things to offer. I think it's bad advice to tell people to skip HS.

two days at Magic Kingdom is enough, maybe in this case go to HS the other day and redo attractions there if you've finished all you want to
