How many days at Kennedy space center?

I read somewhere that you can get a 2nd day for free. How many hours or days do you think we need there? My DH is an astrophysicist, so will he want to do everything and see all the Imax movies? We are always dragging him to Disney, so we want to go somewhere he will really enjoy.

I think one day is enough if you are there when they open. It's great if you have two days available during your vacation, but we never do. I've always wanted to see a launch. You should sign up for their special launch e-mails.

I believe the Astronaut Hall of Fame is down the road a bit from the main visitor center.

I would say at least 2 days. There are special tours that you may want to do that costs extra. We were there in January, bought an annual pass which was cheaper than paying for 2 separate visits. Plus the annual pass gave food and gift shop discounts. One day definitely was not enough. We still did not have time to do the Astronaut Hall of Fame. My DS is a space buff and he still wants to go back and finish all that we missed.

I agree with Mulan2. We just got back from KSC and although we didn't do any tours due to the Air Show out on the Cape, we got the Visitor Center and the Hall of Fame done in 1 day. Will go back at some point for a 2nd trip to do the tours.

I agree with everyone else. I drag my DH to Disney each year and he wanted to visit the Space Center...bought the one day free pass and was very glad we did. It definately takes more than 1 day if you are going to see everything. The tour, which has 3 stops takes a good portion of the day if you are interested in actually looking at things. There is a lot to see and do. As much as I did NOT want to go as I thought I would be bored, we easily spent 2 days there.

We did 3 days last year and still did not have time to go to the Astronauts Hall of Fame. (It's at a different location but is included in the admission.) The bus portion takes a full day and that does not really give you time to actually stop and read all of the displays. In addition to the displays at the main complex they run two different IMAX movies. My son loved the shuttle launch simulator so we had to do that multiple times each day.

I love love love Kennedy Space Center! One day is never enough for me, I always feel like I left something out. It is a really neat place and I think that your whole family will enjoy it... especially DH!

We will only have 1 day to see KSC...Our boys will be 9,8,7--what are the must sees for them:confused3 recommendations on things that we could miss.

TIA

For a one day trip,
Must sees:
The shuttle launch simulator.
The shutle mock-up.
One of the IMAX movies.
The Saturn V building. (2nd stop on the bus)
The rocket garden + the historic displays in the adjacent "Dine with and astronaut" building.
The shuttle replacement program presentation.
Skips:
Mad Mission to Mars
The space station assembly building.
The launch pad observation platform. (The view from the back of the Saturn building is about the same and you don't lose time waiting for the next bus.)
Dine with an astronaut.

I can only fit one day in for the Space Center when we are there in February, so we will do as much as we can in the one day that we'll have. Can you get "special" tickets from your Congressman??? Do you need to designate the exact date you want? I know that the last time we were there (almost 20 years ago), we had ordered tickets from our Congressman, and they came in the mail while we were gone, so I wanted to order them at least 2 months in advance. Who knows about this ???

:guilty: I contacted my Congressman's Office, and was told that they offer no tickets to KSC, and did not know that this was ever done in the past. Has anyone gotten tickets from their Congressman recently ???? I was hoping to save some $$$ by doing this, but I guess not...too bad.
