How many days at DL for a first timer

Last time we went 5 days with two adults and one 8 year old was to long, 3 would have been fine.

So hard for me to imagine. I've never gone to Disney, be it 3 days or 10, and left thinking "I was there too long". I'm not sure for me, or DGD7, that is possible. I could be possible for DH to reach his saturation point but 10 days hasn't done it

Kinda depends on what else you want to do.

If it's not a peak day, and you are organized, you can hit all the major rides in 2 days and have time for repeats...but it's hectic.

Three days, non peak, allows enough time to do *everything* at a good pace. Peak time? See 2 days above.

4 days at the resort would feel pretty laid back. But by this point, I would be done, I love the parks, DL is my favorite Disney Park, period. But the DLR is much, more compact than WDW and surrounded by one the the greatest, most varied, most diverse, most exciting parts of the entire continent. If I had to choose between DLR and the rest of the LA/OC area for my time...DLR would lose.

But, because the way the tickets are priced...5 day tickets allow you to mix and match with LA/OC. Get out and surf Newport Beach, hike the mountains above Malibu, get get a tour of LA, go to the observatory and the Autry in Griffoth Park, or LACMA, or tar pits, Disney concert hall, eat at Phillipes and the LA Farmers market, Long beach aquarium, depending on when in April see the Long Beach Grand Prix, bike from Venice to Playa Del Rey and back; etc. and then come back and have an evening in the parks. Other days, just enjoy the parks.

My first two visits were with 3 day passes, I didn't get everything done. I'd take the 5 day passes for sure!

we go in Sept and most of the rides where walk on and you can ride them as many times as you wish. We even went back to the hotel every afternoon. But we are doing 5 days this time because we have lots of little kids.

We just did 5 days and could have used one more to finish off our "want to dos" - but we took afternoon breaks most days to get out of the sun / crowds, and were moving slow due to a knee injury. We had initally planned 4, but when we saw the price difference between 4 and 5 days it made no sense not to bump to 5. We did a week in Anaheim and mixed in some So Cal fun on our non DL days.

Enjoy your trip!

How many days you need really depends on your touring style. If you are park opening - park closing, I'd say 3 days. If you take things slower, eat several table service meals do 4 days. If you plan to take mid-day breaks from the park, visit DTD, table service meals then do 5 days.

We 2 - 3 days because we don't do everything every time. We do tend to do park openings and may or may not do park closing. We will go straight to the park on our first day (arrive by 1pm) and then 2-3 full days depending on when we are going and what we have planned in addition to the parks.
