I was just sitting here trying to figure out how many days to take off for the wedding. We are going to disney from December 29-January 6. The wedding is on the 3rd.

I work for Child Protective Services, so I have to take oncall on a rotating basis. I'm still kind of new to the job, so I'm just starting to build up vacation time. Thankfully, I can opt for comp time as opposed to being paid for overtime. That has helped add to the time I will be able to take off.

The other day, the girls were discussing how to split up call for the holidays. My dd is going to be 16 this fall, so I offered to take Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. There are some of my coworkers who have little ones, I don't think it is fair to make them leave their kids on the holidays when they are so little.

So, anyway, I am thinking of taking off from December 26 through January 8th. That will give me some cushion time before we leave to get things in order, and a day or so to rest when we get back.

So, how much time are you planning?

i think that sounds good...its pretty muched bassed on what you want to do

like if the wedding is taking up about 2-3 days & you want to do all the parks as well then thats about 7 dys right there

i think you should be good...kinda do a little day by day planner & see how it works out

good luck & what a rewarding job you have...i give you alot of credit..that is a tough job

DF and I will be taking 4 weeks off in total.

We will be driving down to WDW from upstate NY, so we will be leaving 5 days before the wedding. Then we are going on our honeymoon straight from Disney. We are doing a 12 day cruise of Australia and New Zealand. It takes 2 days to get there, and another full day on a plane to get back here.

We've been working a TON of overtime and saving every single hour of vacation time we can get our hands on to do this, but it will be worth it in the end!

Wow, that sounds amazing! DF and I despiratly want to go to Australia, but unfortunatly, it will have to wait, as we are just starting out and don't have to $$. I had a chance to go through my nursing program, but couldn't do that to DF. You'll just have to come back and give a great trippie about it!

As for time off, I'm not sure yet, I will also be new to the job at that time, and am hoping to get at least 2 weeks off. I plan to work my butt off to get that vacation time and will probably have to do a couple of holidays I normally wouldn't have to work, but I figure it'll be worth it!

we'll be taking off a total of 3 weeks but it comes out to 3 1/2. since we are getting married on a Wednesday - we both took that whole week off which actually gives me from Saturday until Wednesday to freak out, calm down and probably freak out again! :rotfl:

our delayed disneymoon is for 2 weeks from 12/10 through 12/21 when we fly home. that's a Friday and then my office is closed the following Monday, Tuesday AND Wednesday for Christmas! my DF works for the city and has a whole bunch of time to take so he'll be home that Monday & Tuesday as well with me... how perfect is that???!!!

I'm taking off 11 days from work and DF is a teacher so he doesn't have to take any time off since we're getting married in the summer.

We're getting married on 8/16, so we're leaving NJ (driving) on 8/10 and we'll be heading back on 8/24. I wanted to have a few days before the wedding to enjoy the parks and get any last minute things done while we're down there.

I'm probably taking almost two weeks off. I'm going to take off Tues-Fri the week of the wedding which is on Thurs. We'll stay in Orlando until Sunday and then we're headed off to the Keys (probably) on Monday for 4-5 days then I'll go back to work the following Monday.

I'm so jealous of all you taking 3-4 weeks off!! I wish I could but I'm trying to save up to take off for a few weeks for our trip to the Philippines which will hopefully be 6-12 months after the wedding. That will be our longer family trip/honeymoon :)

We only took a week off. We're local, so didn't have to factor any travel time into it. So we welcomed family on Saturday/Sunday, got married on Monday, honeymooned Tuesday through Saturday, then we went back to work that Sunday/Monday (DH works at Universal so his weekends work a little differently).

I wish we could've taken off more but Disney was too expensive for us to stay on-site for much longer! ;) and I had just started a new job so only had one week vacation for the WHOLE YEAR! :scared1:

We are taking 4 whole weeks off for our wedding and honeymoon. I will be off6 whole days before I leave, have loads of stuff to organise, beauty treatments to get done etc, then we are vacationing for 3 weeks in Orlando. When we come home we arrive on Fridays and go back to work on Monday.

DH and I took off 7 days from work. We flew down to Miami and drove to Key West on Saturday and got married on Monday. We drove back up to Miami that wednesday and stayed until we flew home on Monday. We took Tuesday off to rest and see our family since they were not at the weddding. We were both glad we had that extra day because getting married is quiet exhausting or maybe it is the honeymoon that was exhausting:laughing:

We were in FL for 13 days. My company has a great policy of giving "honeymoon vacation" which is a free 5 days off. So I only had to take a week off in addition to that. DH was/is a contractor so his time off didn't matter except to the paycheck!

I think the amount of time you have taken should be plenty.

We are leaving on a Saturday and coming back Friday. I am going to take the whole week off plus the week before. The rest of my vacation time goes towards our Honeymoon in December! But I work remotely, so technically if I have my laptop I can work anywhere. Actually, I tend to work on all of my vacations. But for the wedding I think I'll leave the comp at home...maybe.

I am graduating nursing school in early December, our wedding is in early January, so I am not going to start working until early Feb.....   :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: And since I am a nurse, I get to work 3 days (12 hr shifts a day)!! WOOHOO! Unfortunately, DF cannot be off from work that long, as the project he is on is very time-sensitive...I believe he will take off 6-7 actual work days, and even that is a stretch!:sad2:

I graduate May 3 and get married on May 10!!! So I'm taking forever off, lol. FI is taking a full month of leave time and then we will move to Germany and get me settled in. :)

We took 2 weeks off, which was all the vacation time I had at the time. We flew to WDW on Tuesday (6/22), our wedding was on Friday(6/25), and we stayed for our honeymoon until July 5th - I really wanted to see the fireworks in EPCOT for the 4th! Since we had our marriage license already, we really could have flown down on the 23rd and still had enough time for everything, but who can complain about an extra day in Disney?

I don't have an answer to your question, but I wanted to say how sweet it is for you to offer to take Christmas Eve and Christmas Day for your coworkers with young children.:goodvibes Both of my parents work at a hospital, and when we were little, it was awful when one of our parents had to be at work instead of home with us on Christmas. As we got older, we understood and we found plenty of ways to work around it if one of them was scheduled to work, but I just think that is one of the nicest things. :) :flower3:

I was lucky enough to be a stay at home mom when dd was little. We were always together on holidays. She will be 16 this christmas and is very understanding that we may be moving the holidays around a little.
