How many days after Galaxy's edge opens?

We have a first Disneyland trip planned for mid- November of 2019. Right now we have 3 nights at Disneyland Hotel with 2-day parkhoppers with max pass plus 4 more nights at a good neighbor with 5 day ph. (no max pass, but we may add a day at a time). Is that too many days of tickets? Or will I definitely need maxpass, so I should add it now? (I plan to upgrade to a premiere passport for myself since I'll be visiting both coasts multiple times, so we won't need it for photos)

Depending on your touring style and the ages of your group members, I don't think that's too many days in the parks. (But, I'm biased!) If you want a more relaxed pace and will be taking breaks for the pool (not out of the question in November) or for TS meals or if you want to see shows/parades/live music/etc. or spend time shopping, then your number of days sounds fine. With MP so easy to purchase as soon as you get through the gates, I would decide day of whether you want it or need it that day. Some rides have Single Rider lines -- if your group members are old enough and willing to use them, SR lines can be a great way to get repeat rides without using a FP. We like to schedule lots of breaks and down time throughout our park days, especially during peak crowd times. It just helps to alleviate stress. So having the luxury of plenty of days for nice meals, shows, repeat rides/shows/parades/do-overs if fireworks get cancelled/etc. is really helpful and keeps our sanity levels up. If your visit falls during Holiday Time, you'll enjoy having the extra time to soak in all the lovely details and decorations throughout the parks, DTD, the on site hotels, etc.

I don't think it's too many days. With the crowds that are expected later this year I think a longer stay is ideal. We will be going for around 8-10 days in October. And yes max pass is absolutely worth it.

I think 7 total days is a lot for DLR, though I would never say there is such a thing as "too many" Disney days. Honestly though, I personally wouldn't do 7 full in-park days at DLR and would likely go to other sites in the area as well. That's just me though. Galaxy's Edge is going to make things more crowded for a while though, so if you want to see everything it may be warranted.

My personal opinion is 3 full days at DLR is enough time to do/see everything, especially with MaxPass. Last trip we went for 5 full days and days 4 and 5 we just took it easy and hit the favorites again, but I could have gone home day 4 and been happy with the trip. 7 park days is a lot of time at DLR.

We went to DL 2 yr ago for 5 days. It was a wonderful trip. Don't listen to everybody who says that 7 days is a long time. It may be a long time for them, but if you're fine w/it, then that's all that matters.

7 days will give you the benefit of having more flexibility. What I mean is that you can hit up the parks first thing in the morning, then around lunchtime, escape for a few hours to your hotel or to do something else. Then you can go back in the evening. And you won't feel like you're missing out. It's a very different way of touring the parks compared to an all-day open-to-close method where you tour like you're a commando and you're planning the D-Day invasion of Normandy. :-)

Guess being here 12 days so far is too much huh... I still have tabs on my Festival of Holidays food booth thingie, can't go home yet....

I'm in the "No it will give you a more relaxed visit" camp...

Everyone vacations differently. DLR for us is a quick 3 or 4 day long-weekend trip, where we hit the parks from open to close and stay off property. Our WDW trips are different where we stay a week or longer and stay on property.

There's no right or wrong way to vacation, just my opinion is 7 days is a long time to spend at DLR. They don't even sell a 7 day ticket

That's what I was thinking when I added tickets for every day, but because I booked the 5 day tickets and 2 day tickets separately, I started second guessing. With 6 people that extra 2 days is a lot of wasted money if we don't use them. I can easily spend 10-12 days at WDW multiple times per year without getting bored.

I'm really looking forward to Festival of the Holidays! I'm not a huge Star Wars fan like the rest of the family, but I love holidays and eating!
