Trip Report How Many Countries Can You Visit in Two Weeks?! - DLRP and more! TR LINK!!!! Pg. 20!!

Love this stuff!!! I had it for the first time a few years ago. Its hard to find around here, but worth it!! :thumbsup2

We had a World Market store for many years in our area that sold the beer. They recently closed and now we go to Binny's. I hope you have one in your area that you can purchase the beer at

I just read the whole first 9 pages of your PTR :thumbsup2

I think it always adds a bit of something extra travelling when there's a bit of family history involved.

I had no idea it was so cheap to travel from the US to Europe! Can you really get airfares as low as $800 return? We've always enjoyed travelling with any subsidiary of Virgin.

Your plans so far look great! The Netherlands and Amsterdam look really nice. I had to use a serious amount of willpower to stop myself from licking the screen.

And I hope you can get a proper Disney fix this time. I had no idea there was a dragon underneath the castle. How do you get to it?

We will definitely miss the beer when we move back to the States! :drinking1 (I'm the one currently living in southern Belgium) Hoping we can ship some back with us, but we've heard conflicting reports on that. We have a few crates of Westvleteren, which you can only buy directly from the abbey after phoning for a reservation. :upsidedow If we can't ship it, we'll have to drink it before we go! Or sell it on ebay for outrageous sums...but we wouldn't do that.

Loving all the pictures of Belgium! :thumbsup2

Wow! Thanks for the Belgian beer lesson! I can't imagine being somewhere with 500 beers to sample and the chocolate looks divine.

More lovely pictures! Brussels looks like a fabulous place to visit!

I agree, the Atomium looks like it could be in Epcot.

Wittamer... um... yum. :faint:

Those elephants are awesome! Wow, that's so cool. I love elephants.

All those places just look gorgeous! I love the architecture.

Haha. That's okay. She's very stealth and very rarely announces her presence. :lmao:

No need to apologize at all. I am thrilled that you said the best frites are from Belgium. I have always said that also. I make great homemade frites myself. just ask Danielle. She grew up eating them.... with mayonnaise....:cool1::thumbsup2
Apologies again and thanks for your gracious understanding - I'm afraid I'm guilty of reading too quickly to pick up on relationships, I have learned my lesson. Sorry for delay too - just back from a long week at DLP/Paris. Whatever you do, do not miss Dreams.

Danielle, you are one excellent holiday researcher - you have me salivating for the produce of the Netherlands/Belgium and I can purchase a lot of it here. Wonder if I have enough in my piggy bank for another short trip! :scratchin

Keep it coming...

I think we are going to have to make a trip to Binny's sometime soon. ;)

:welcome: Glad to have you along.

You can find reasonable flights from the US to Europe, you just have to look carefully, and travel time has a lot to do with it for sure. Summer isn't exactly the best time to go if you're looking for cheaper flights.

I almost licked the screen when I was posting it too, so no shame there. :goodvibes

There is a walkway by the castle (to the left if my memory serves), that leads right in. It's very cool.

I've heard conflicting reports too about what you can bring back and what you can't.

That beer sounds familiar, so it might have been something that my family had when we visited in 2010.

That would be a lot of beer you would have to drink if you couldn't ship it!

Wow! Thanks for the Belgian beer lesson! I can't imagine being somewhere with 500 beers to sample and the chocolate looks divine.

More lovely pictures! Brussels looks like a fabulous place to visit!

Believe me, I can't imagine there being 500 different beers to choose from either, but I'm definitely going to take pictures!

I agree, the Atomium looks like it could be in Epcot.

Wittamer... um... yum. :faint:

Those elephants are awesome! Wow, that's so cool. I love elephants.

All those places just look gorgeous! I love the architecture.

I know, it does look like it belongs in Epcot!

The architecture is really beautiful. I love anything though that's a little older.

I will definitely have to make it to see Dreams. Is it a new show? It's likely I don't remember it from the last time, because we missed so much. I hope that you guys had a nice trip! :goodvibes

Thanks, I love researching information for trips. I'm even kind of like that with Disney World, even though I've been there so many times. It just makes me even more excited for the trips. When we went to Paris a year and a half ago, I didn't do much research, but I knew exactly where we wanted to visit, so we kind of did it on the fly. This time around, I knew that wouldn't really work too well. All of my friends tell me all the time that I should be a travel planner or agent. :rotfl:

Wow, what a beautiful place.
Umm yeah, a sweet shop that gives samples? I'd keep coming back!!

Thank you so much for sharing your grandmother's and mother's beautiful stories. I used to love talking to my grandparents about their experiences during WWII. I just did a free trial on Ancestry.com and got my maternal grandparents lineage traced back to the 1600. Such fascinating stuff.

Fries, mayo, cheese? Yes please. I'd like to live at the Cheese Chamber. My BFF dreams of opening a cheese shop called Queso Facil one day (she's Puerto Rican) so I'll have to show her some the pics of the cheese shop.

I'm eager to hear about DLP, I know less than nothing about it.

I think I have an (innocent-I know your mom's on here :rotfl: Hi MOM! :wave2:) crush on your dad. I love him already.

It's OK to have a crush on my husband. A lot of people do because he is such a goof.:).

We had a great time, thanks - although hope your visiting days aren't weekends or public holidays as the crowds make it a bit harder to fully enjoy everything.

Dreams is new for the 20th Anniversary - it's a nighttime outdoor show - have included a link here to a promo video if you want to peek (spoiler alert).

Just caught up on the last couple updates. Love the cheese shop! It's funny, because I was driving through Wisconsin last weekend, and stopped for some cheese curds, but that picture of yours had more cheese than I saw...love that it's piled to the ceiling! Also, those chocolate samples look awesome! Looks like you'll be happily eating and drinking your way through Europe! :rotfl:

I'm so excited about the fact that the chocolate shop gives samples. I mean, duh! :lmao:

Tracing your lineage is so cool. I've never done it, but would be interested in seeing what would come up. We do have some adoptions stemming back in our family, so there are some unknown factors.

I would love to live there too. Cheese is my friend, but also my mortal enemy, because it contributed in making me fat. :rotfl:

I'm super excited to tell everyone about DLP. :goodvibes

It's okay to have an innocent crush on my dad. Everyone loves him because he's such a spaz. :lmao:

True that.

We are visiting over the weekend, but I have a plan of attack. I don't have to do everything, I just want to make sure we do more than we did last time! :rotfl2:

I will have to put Dreams on the list of things to do when we're there.

I know, and they have A LOT of cheese in Wisconsin.

I'll be eating and drinking through Europe, the same way I eat and drink through WDW. :lmao:

I totally missed this !! I finally paid attention to your signature and found the link !! I already told you this, but I got engaged in Belgium. DH was starting up a chemical plant in the Netherlands, so I went over for a visit. He had his own villa in Brielle, Netherlands. Beautiful place. My visit was very short (8 days), but we spent two days in Brugge and it was amazing.

All of your photos bring back all of those memories. It was just so gorgeous and there is soooo much history. You never really realize how YOUNG America is until you travel to Europe.

I loved everything about the area. The tulips, the architecture, the cheese, the chocolate, and the pottery. We actually traveled to Gouda and Edam, where they make the famous cheese. I bought some wooden shoes (or clogs as they call them) along the way. We went to the actual Deflt pottery factory and bought several tiles and souvenirs there. My whole master bathroom is decorated in blue an white with all of these little pieces of pottery in there. We went to see the tulip garden in Keukenhof. Gorgeous!!

The chocolate (said in a hushed and reverent tone) is nirvana. The. Best. Chocolate. EVER. I still have dreams about it. Oh we got some little lace souvenirs as well.

Anyway, DH bought my engagement ring in Belgium. A blue diamond with small white ones surrounding it. I just recently got it made into a pendant because some of the little white diamonds were falling out. He of course replaced it with another more amazing ring, which I love. It was very romantic to get engaged there. We had a little carriage ride and he asked on one of the quiet little side streets. Very nice and romantic.

I bet you are beyond excited about your trip. How wonderful that you will get to experience that with your mother. That is very special. I can't wait to see more photos of DLRP as well. DH and I need to look into going back over there. We didn't have nearly enough time there. He spent 4 months there and did so much more than I did, but still he was working a lot and didn't get to see enough.

I can't wait to read about your adventures !!

Wow how fantastic to be able to tell people how and where you got engaged. As a child I went to Keukenhof every year with my parents for the tulip festivals. You have to post a picture of all the Delft that you have. I have one piece that my mother gave me that is older than I am. I also purchased a few pieces online. I love Delft it is so beautiful. I am hoping to buy a few more pieces to bring back.

The Delft I have are just the souvenir tiles, wooden shoes and vases. I love them though. We bought some art prints from a street vender in Brugge that I absolutely treasure. All of our photos are the 1998 pre-digital variety, so I would have to scan them to share. We have a lot though.

Oh and DH corrected me. He had a villa in Hellevoetsluis and not Brielle. But Brielle was near by.

We just loved Keukenhof. All of those masses of bright color were just gorgeous. And, of course, I loved all of the Windmills.

I cannot believe it but we have 30 days until we leave for Europe.
I am so excited. :dance3:
Can't wait to see the whole family and off course tour Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, France and England.
