How many costumes do your kids bring along?

Not for the Halloween Party, but just in general!? Both my girls want to dress like a Princess for our Princess Breakfast, but my younger daughter also has an adorable Minnie Mouse costume that still fits her. That would be a cute thing to wear when meeting Minnie Mouse. Of course I'm worried about having to carry all of these around the parks.. not liking that idea! I know that we can rent a locker, so that is an option, but I was just wondering how many costumes your kids have taken along on your trips, and do they wear them on any rides?

My kids had theirs for Halloween and that's it. We didn't let dd take her Sleeping Beauty costume to wear to the Princess Breakfast because we didn't want her to have to change. I did notice a few girls changing in the bathroom after PSB though.

It was really hot when we were there and I can't imagine her having worn that long dress anyway. I also can't imagine having to walk back to the gates to put costumes in the lockers.

My kids did rides at both halloween parties with costumes on and were fine :) I hope you have a fabulous trip. Your girls are such beauties :)

p.s. We found the best place to meet Minnie was at AK once the park opened and everyone went into Lion King for the show. We literally had Minnie, Mickey & Pluto to ourselves for over 10 minutes. My boys were playing thumb wars with Minnie & Mickey. It was SO awesome. At that time she's not wearing her Minnie 'dress' though, she's in her Safari garb ;)

None unless we are going to the Halloween party. I have seen too many miserable hot kids trying to move around in them at the parks. This past trip it was very hot one day and this poor little girl was dressed up as Cinderella complete with those horrible plastic shoes. She looked about 4 y/o. She was crying and wanted to sit because she was hot and her feet hurt but her father told her to keep walking. Unless it is for the party then DD wears comfortable clothes.

My DD usually takes 1 Pricess outfit - this time she's taking her Belle dress and costume for the Halloween party. She usually wears the Princess dress just for a character breakfast and possibly up to lunchtime - it then goes straight in the backpack. Plastic shoes usually stay on for breakfast only and switches to comfy sandals.

One costume each, mainly for the character meals and possibly the parades, and no plastic shoes, just comfy sandals. We'll have a change for them the rest of the time. DD6 will be Cinderella, and DD3 will be Tinkerbell.

I am SORELY tempted to bring our giraffe costume because we're staying at AKL, but I will not succomb!

One each, for the breakfast only. We change right after. No plastic shoes, only sneaks or comfortable sandels. DD4 will be Belle this time (in the blue dress) and dd8 will be Jasmine. Since we are doing MNSSHP, they will just wear the same thing, even though that is not what they are being for the real Halloween at home. I just want to limit the amount of stuff I have to pack. (I ususally slip the costumes in a backpack, don't return to front for a locker; roll them rather then fold or stuff--they don't get wrinkled and take up less room).

I wouldn't dream of putting them in those plastic shoes! Yikes! It's tennis shoes all the way!

Thanks everyone for your input!

When I went with my niece, who was just shy of five years old, she had a WHOLE WARDROBE!!! My sister-in-law unpacked the costumes first, so they would have time to de-wrinkle. Let me tell you, they took up half of the closet! I opened the door to hang up my jacket, and said, "oh my - I didn't know I was traveling with a movie star!!" I had to open the other door to find a spot for me. Of course, my niece thought this was delightful, that her auntie was so impressed. (Hey - her Mom did all the work, so you'll get no complaints from me.) For my niece - this WAS the vacation, getting to dress up every day, and she looked quite adorable.

Although she had matching shoes, she did not have those plastic ones....they were "real" shoes, probably from Target, and she wore frilly socks with them. She might have had little tennies with her, too. My Saintly SIL also carried other clothes, but DN stayed all froo-froo most of the day. (We were there in January.)

I think it depends on your fortitude, on how interested your daughter is, and how much luggage you want to carry. (DSIL must have had a trunk!)

PS - I think my brother in law is saintly, too - because he has to manuever all that luggage.

We took one outfit for the breakfast. We also had her wear tennis shoes. I carry a decent size bag with me, so I put her dress in there after she changed. We also don't spend an entire day in one park, so I knew I wouldn't have to carry it all day long. One thing to consider, if you're going to have them change, you might want to use a restroom away from the restaurant. We found the one at PSB to be a tight fit for a lot of people. I didn't want to use a stall when we were just changing her outfit, so we went to another restroom in the park. There are so few years when children are excited to dress up and meet the characters, so to me it was worth a little extra hassle.:)

My DD is planning on wearing her Belle costume (that she will be wearing on Halloween) on her b-day , Nov. 10.
We are starting our day at the Princess breakfast in Epcot. I have keds that I took the laces out of and I will be putting yellow ribbon in place of the laces so she will be comfy.
I thought I would put her in a yellow t-shrit and shorts underneath in case she gets hot.

My son wants to wear his Sorcerer Mickey costume that day too....(shorts and shirt underneath as well)....the material I used on the red robe is thin enough so I guess I will go along with it--the only big thing is that hat!

Now I am waiting for my DD8 to ask if SHE can wear a costume too! (she doesn't have one and I am not planning on buying one for 1 day--she is not into playing dress-up any more and she is going as Hillary Duff the "rock singer" for Halloween!)
Maybe I'll get her a princess t-shirt and she can wear an extra tiara that's laying around the house! LOL!

The kids take a lot of costumes (girls take at least three each and ds takes his Mickey costume). They only wear them for a little while and wear a sundress underneath. They never wear the plastic shoes just some white sandals.

DD2 is still small enough that her costumes do not take up a lot of luggage space. We also take her to the baby changing stations in the park after the meal to put her shorts on. Last year, I must have taken 6 costumes with me, complete with tiaras, shoes, wands. This trip (9/04), I only took the dresses and the tiaras. She wore her sandals or her sneakers. They didn't always match, but she was just starting to walk, so I wanted to be sure she was comfortable. The wands would have just sat on the table, as did the tiaras after the first 20 minutes of the meal. I will take as many costumes as she will let me put on her every trip. We usually do about 4 character meals, 2 of them being CRT and PSB. As soon as she's tired of that, I'll forget the costumes. I will, however, put her in the entire Cindy get-up (except the horrible shoes) for Halloween at home. We have the gown, tiara, wand, gloves, purse. Can't wait to see her actually walk to the doors to Trick or Treat!
