We have ARDs for 4 character meals and a dinner show and I'm wondering if we should cancel because it will be too much and if so which one. We are taking our DD who is 8 in Sept.

ARD's Include:
Ohana - Brkft 9/26
CRT - Brkft 9/28
Akershus - 3:00 lunch 9/28
Cape May Cafe - Brkft 9/29

Dinner Show HDDMR 9/27

We did 4 last time and I was wishing we could have booked another. Personally I would keep them all and see how it goes. If for some reason you find it's too many, it's super easy to cancel from the phone in your hotel room.

Have fun!

There's no such thing as too many for our family (with DS 13 and DD9). My kids love the character interactions and I sometimes get the best laughter out of the kids this way. Even last Dec. at the Paradise Pier we had breakfast with Mickey and friends. When my DS got up to use the restroom, Mickey sat down at the table with me and DD and pretended to eat my son's breakfast!! So many great memories we have of disney character dining. So far neither of my kids have outgrown the experience so I'm planning as many as I can for our potential trip in spring.

You can never have too many :). If everyone in the party is okay with all the dining fun then book them all. Character dining is just another way to make your Disney trip fun filled and packed with excitment. You can eat at Planet Hollywood any where but you can only eat pancakes with Mickey in Disney ::MickeyMo

There is no such thing as too many character meals, and Dh and I don't even have children. We have a couple booked for January. We started out with all except 1 or 2 of the breakfasts booked, but tapered off, because DH said it was cutting into his park time.

I think what you have is ok, but I don't think I would do CRT and Akershus on the same day, or at least not breakfast and lunch, maybe breakfast and dinner, tha tis way too much food, unless they are booked really far apart. We booked 2 meals too close together on Christmas Day and by late afternoon, I was not feeling so well, and only one was a character meal.

You can never have too many. We did 7 last year and we don't have kids (we are in our mid 40's). We were with my parents! The characters are great, even with adults. We love watching them kids too. Two different meals we actually were able to meet up with friends from my childhood. We did Chef Mickey's for breakfast and dinner (twice), Crystal Palace breakfast and dinner, Tusker House for breakfast, 1900 Park Fare! Loved them all. There was a different experience at each one and the characters were all true to their personalities! Enjoy. 1 Month and 1 Day till my next trip.:cool1:

I think when you go with kids you should have as many as the kids want. When we took our nieces I had a character meal booked every day of our trip...breakfasts are so much better than dinner (foodwise)

Awhile back we had a poster who was going to be at WDW for a week and had booked sixteen character meals (two per day for eight straight days).
For me, one is too many.

It's really up to you how many you want or how many you think you can stand...because you can book and attend as many as you can take.

Personally I think CRT plus Akershus on the same day might be overkill, unless your child is a princess fanatic.

We have had as many as 9 durring an 8 night trip. On our upcoming trip we only have 1. It really depends on you and your family as to if you think you have too many (or not enough). We usually just stick to character breakfasts since the food tends to be more standard where as dinners are usually pretty awful. Akershus is pretty much the only restaurant where we prefer the lunch/dinner to the breakfast, which I see is your only non-breakfast character meal, so IMO I think you have some good choices.

We did several character meals and loved them all. We were disappointed that we didn't get into the Garden Grill last time. That is my favorite.

We only did 1 (CRT) when we were there in 1998 with our oldest daughter. This time our oldest daughter is 17 and we also have a 4 year old daughter. We are on free dining (which wasn't available in 1998) so we are doing 3 (1900 Park Fare, Akershus and Crystal Palace). Basically, we will have a character dinner every other day of our stay. Sounds good to me!

No such thing as too many! I am actually really sad because we aren't doing any at all this trip :( When I went to Disney with my DBF for the first time, it was his first trip ever at 25 years old and I booked character meals for almost every day we were there and he loved it!

I don't think you can have too many. :). We always do as many as possible since my kids are young and they enjoy them.

I agree, I don't think that is too many. One reason I like character meals is that you don't have to stand in line waiting to meet the characters. So you kill two birds with one stone.

How long is your stay? That is too many jammed into a short timeframe. These meals take up a lot of time getting to them, waiting for the table, and the meal itself.

I would cancel CRT. It's not so great and you have another meal later that same day in a different park.

I didn't notice this until this poster said something, but not only do you have CRT for breakfast and then another meal later that day, but the other meal is another princess meal and it's for lunch. That's a lot of princesses in 2 different places with not a lot of time between them. Unless there is a type-o with the dates, I would consider canceling one of them.

Phew! That makes me feel better about my 11 character meals in 6 days :)

*** I should also mention that Character Meals = less waiting in line for characters in the parks. They also give us much-needed breaks in our day, so, for us at least, there are many benefits.

If you like having that many character meals go for it. For us that's a bit too much, but everybody is different.

The only other thing to consider is that if you are booking so many character meals you are leaving out quite a few other restaurants that you will never get around to trying. Again, that's just a preference though.

Too many is subjective, though. I could happily make it through a trip without a character meal. :confused3

I agree w/ other posters, you can't have too many character meals if you ahve enough $ and you like them! We once did one every day of our trip, either breakfast and/or dinner. that was over 9 different ones in one trip. I think there were more actually but it's been about 15 years. :lovestruc Food was better back then though. :rolleyes1 Income too. :rolleyes1:rolleyes1
