How many booked the "Special Deal"

Not a lawyer, but I know many web sites have "disclaimers" to guard against these kind of errors.. I don't know if Disney does or not, but my gut feeling is that they won't honor these rates because they don't need the "good faith" publicity from it like the Holiday Inn did last year with the $1.15 fiasco..

Only time will tell.. Many if not too many people jumped on it they will honor it.. :)

CRO says the rooms were "priced incorrectly" & they'll be sending out letters indicating what the "correct" amount is & that it will need to be paid in order to stay.

CM further stated that it is a "mistake" the category was pulled entirely (couldn't even bring rates up) and that they will not honor the "wrong" price.

I've printed out my res. confirmations that were paid in full @ time of booking...any lawyers out there?

I could get the start of our trip and the end of our trip but was missing our 3rd from the last night. So we will stick with our original plan of GF lodge concierge for the first part of the trip but then move over to BWI for the last 2 nights in a Garden Suite. I only had to "flip flop" one day on our itinerary to have us at MGM and Epcot for those last 2 days so the added benefit is that we only have to take the bus to AK for the whole trip. Considering we will be travelling with a 4 month old and bringing his decent sized stroller, that is a very good thing! I am thinking I will take some of our savings $ and put it towards just taking a cab that day anyway so no busses. ;)

I did pay in full for both nights. ANyone remember a glitch with Florida resident rates and the old best rate program (or it's FL resident equivalent) last year? They wer getting rooms for like $20/night. If I remember correctly, and I could be wrong since I'm not a Florida resident and was just watching out of curiosity, Disney called everyone booked with it and told them they would only honor 1 night at that rate and that was only if they made NO changes to their reservation at all...not changing names, resorts, dates, ANYTHING. If they wanted to keep more than 1 night of their reservation they would have to pay the regular Florida resident rate for those nights. It should be interesting to see what they do since these are all single night reservations. If they come back and tell me they will only honor one night then we will just do one night! It still saves us quite a bit in the long run and we get to experience a garden suite. :) We love BWI CL so getting to do that would be a treat.

ok.. what kind of deal did you all get.... we would all love to be happy for you all.. please share your details! :)

You'd think they would honor it, since they've honored things like this in the past, but I'd think they would limit to just one res. Which works for us, we only booked one night anyway.

Check the "fine print" of your confirmations and any booking policies that Disney may have - I'm sure they have found a way to cover this one.
I'm sure a lawyer for either side could also argue that ethically the customer cannot expect the seller to abide by this price.
eg - if you go to a store and see something on the shelf marked $.09 that you know should be marked $9.00 and there is no sign and no ad to promote this "special" then the "right" thing to do would be to ask the store manager and let them know of the mistake and not clear the shelf yourself to take advantage of someones error. They could decide not to sell the item to you and put it right back on the shelf for sale at the right price.
Just food for thought - not trying to stir things up - no flames please!
I would love to hear how Disney fixes this one. Maybe they'll offer you all a special incentive to keep your reservation with the correct price paid instead of cancelling.

Single person BWI 1 night base pkg - $72.51 (includes tax)...oh, I so ashamed of my bottom-feeding NOT

Found the special but didn't book it - figured it was a mistake and Disney does have the right to cancel.

I did check the back of my current confirmation for my upcoming trip and there is definately a disclaimer that states: Disney reserves the right to decline, accept or retain any guest as a participant in its packages at any time. If a package is cancelled by Disney, Disney shall have no responsibility beyond the refund of all monies paid for that package. Terms and Conditions are subject to change by Disney without notice"

So it sounds to me that if it is indeed a mistake it can and will be cancelled. Should anybody really be surprised or upset? Many people on this board will jump on anyone trying to reuse mugs or buy a child ticket for a 10 year old. I think trying to take advantage of a mistake and then cry foul when caught is just as wrong. Sorry - :guilty:

Its hard to say if they will or will not cancel it, based on previous "mistakes" in the system (as previous poster said) they've had previous mistakes not cancelled, but instead limited to just one night instead of "all" of them.

I booked 2 nights and paid for them. If Disney cancels, I won't cry foul and it won't ruin anything for me. We'll go back to our original plans. If for some reason I can't get those 2 nights back at the GF, we'll go with plan B and still enjoy our vacation. If Disney comes back and says they will honor only one night I will say thank you and enjoy my evening in the suite. ;) I have old refillable mugs from both GF and BWI and won't bring those, have always bought the right tickets and always will including the trip where DS #2 was only 3 by a few weeks...we still bought him a ticket because he was, in fact 3 when we walked through the turnstiles. I'm not out to put one over on Disney and won't have a temper tantrum if I get a phone call or a letter next week saying they won't honor this rate. So please don't generalize about anyone who booked thinking that we are all out to scam Disney somehow. :)

I booked it (and paid in full) for 9 nights. We'll see what happens. Worst case scenario is that they cancel the reservation. Best case scenario is that they honor it and we have an amazing vacation!

so is it too late to book this rate???

It was a mistake in the system. It is no longer available.

I actually had the rate, but decided against it. It seemed to good to be true, so I didn't do it.

I booked 3 of the 6 nights I needed in Feb before it was GONE! I also kept minimizing as I was booking in order to pm all those who pm'd me for help. I have a problem with guilt. :guilty:

I did not generalize everyone who booked - I said no one should be surprised or upset IF Disney does cancel because of the mistake. With all the people that flocked to try to book this rate I can bet there will be a few who throw a fit if it is not honored. In my opinion that is wrong.

I'm glad to hear that it will not ruin your trip if they cancel - I hope that you can go and enjoy with or without the rate :)

A couple of observations......

You can be assured Disney will send out letters to try to correct the error and charge full price....they did when they made a mistake on canadian at par rates a couple years ago.....those who received the letters called and talked to a supervisor...provided a confirmation and had the original rate honored...there has been a number of examples such as this....they of course will be hoping some will not pursue the issue. Either way you would know before check in for sure whether the rate is being honored or not

If they will only honor the first day of the ressie....these are 1 day ressies....i would think each ressie would have to be treated as individual ones if this was the way they handled it....

Also how many rooms are actually booked??? the chances of this being discovered by 1000's are slim....it probably would have not been discovered by disney for awhile if it wasn't for us dis'ers flooding the ressie system!!! LOL

BTW....I am booked Aug.19-29, 2007

Hi, I was able to book one out of 3 nights,Feb.15th.(IT took me FOREVER to figure it out!)I also wanted the 16 and 17th,but that option did not pop up for me on these nights. I paid the one night and got a confirmation. Now I will wait to see if it is HONORED by WDW! Joan

For those of you who don't know what happened today- the Boardwalk Inn was on the website. Cheap! A one night stay with base tickets in a garden suite for 2 adults and one 10yr old was only $217. You had to book them one day at a time. I guess Disney goofed. Now all that booked are wondering if the price will be honored. :confused3

I got 3 nights booked before it went away. 2/10 - 2/13 - I was shooting for one or two more nights. I'm interested to see if this is honored or not. I'm taking the approach that if it is honored, that's great, if not, I'll be disappointed but not shocked.

Disclaimer: I am NOT a lawyer...nor do I play one on TV.

I am fairly certain that Disney is well within their legal rights to cancel all of these reservations, but I'm sure they are looking at possible PR ramifications as well. I am wondering though whether a letter is really going to do it. What if people say they never got the letter? I would hazard a guess that they may have to call all of us to explain the situation. It will be interesting to see how they handle it.

I'm also hope they honor it, but am not holding my breath. Worst case scenario, I/they cancel my ressies and I stay somewhere else, possible even....gasp!.....off property.

Oh yes...one last note. There are only 16 of these rooms at BWI. Just a little factoid.

:)
