How many are already planning for the holidays for this year (2023)?

Planning a little...in 2022, we went away for Christmas, for the first time. While we had a nice time, I won't do it again. In the lead-up to last Christmas, there was so many thoughts of "I can't do this/plan this/buy this, we'll be away!" So, I'm looking forward to a Christmas at home, where I can decorate and meal-plan and not worry about transporting stuff 700 miles.

I NEVER do this,,but was in Michaels yesterday and they had Christmas decor on sale at 80% off. I bought two gifts for next Christmas/birthday season. $40 items for $8 each.

we went to cracker barrel a couple of weeks ago and they had all their christmas stuff marked down to 70% off. i browsed while waiting to get seated and ended up spotting and buying a disney little book advent calendar along with the marvel version. not something i would have paid the $30 original prices on but for less than $10 each it will be fun to pull them out next year (packed um up with the holiday decorations).

Not really. Still hoping to get a job, and can’t really plan much of anything in case it clashes with an interview or new schedule. I had to work holidays and weekends on my last job, so I don’t even feel comfortable making weekend plans more than a week out.

Christmas is the biggest and most planned and it's usually someone asking me on the 23rd, "you're not doing anything for Christmas? You coming over here then?"

That's the extent of my holiday planning.

I am planning only in that I will stock up on Egg Nog as soon as it hits the stores. The stores were sold out about a week before Christmas here.
There is one dairy that brings egg nog out for Easter, hopefully I will find some. They market it as "Easter Egg Nog"

It's only January, not sure what you need to plan that far in advance. Maybe if you plan to fly somewhere for Thanksgiving or Christmas, you might book airline travel since peak travel dates are best booked well in advance. Not sure there is anything else that would require that much advance planning.

Not I. I like the 11 month break.

We did too, this year. I‘d do it again!

You probably didn't have a young adult in the car, throwing up every 50 miles, on the way up. We traveled the Thursday before Christmas--you know, the day of the big storm. Up I-95, stop and go for hundreds of miles. It was miserable! DD19 literally begged us to leave her at a gas station in Maryland, she was feeling so awful.

Once we arrived at our destination, we had a great time, but--never again.

I’ve promised myself I’m gonna pick up gifts all year long as I run into stuff people would like. I love Christmas and try to keep it spiritual. It doesn’t feel that way to me if I’m fretting over figuring out gifts and paying for them all at one time. And I hate buying something just to be able to stick something in a box.
I was frazzled this past one. Gonna do better for 2023.
