I don't think the OP has a real problem doing these things for her daughter- but when you do and sacrifice to give for your kids- and they answer that with a smug, disrespectful remark.... that takes away all the joy we have in giving. Why should anyone do and give extra little things that they think will make your lives easier, if you do not appreciate them. Appreciation is showed by being respectful, kind and helpful. If this young lady had said to her mom "I'll be happy to pump the gas mom" her mothers reaction would not have been what it was. Or- if she had said, "Mom, I'm really cold and have a lot on my mind right now, would you mind pumping the gas this time?" her mother's reaction wouldn't have been the same. OR if she had gotten out of the car silently and filled the car up, even if she didn't want to, mom's reaction would've been different. Mom's reaction would have been one of gratitude for a sweet daughter, whom tries to make her mom as happy as her mom tries to make her. Instead, mom got a rude, disrespectful attitude- and Mom's reaction was natural- and in my opinion- not out of line.
