When we booked our trip for this year we decided to spend a week in St Petes in the Howard Johnson. A while ago we received a call from Virgin saying that they were not doing this hotel anymore so could we choose another. We decided on the Tradewinds Sandpiper. Then at the end of the last week we received another call from them saying that building works were going on there and could we choose another hotel in St Petes, we are now staying the the Tradewinds Grand Island Resort and Virgin said that because of all the messing around we would not be charged anything extra.

How lucky is that. Now all we need to hope for is a free upgrade on the flight but I guess lightening doesnt stike twice.

Looks like you got a good deal in the end.

We stayed in the HoJo at St Pete's and found it a nice hotel :)

Sounds like you have got a terrific upgrade. :)

Years ago we booked Disneyland Paris with Virgin and they called to say that they had overbooked us in the Hotel New York so upgraded us to the Disneyland Hotel. It was great, we'd previously stayed at the Cheyanne so it was nice to see how the other half lived.

Congratulations on the upgrade!

I never knew Virgin offered holidays to DLRP. Is this something that was stopped a few years ago?

Well done on the upgrade.

We have stayed at the Sandpiper which was really nice but the Island Grand which happens to be its sister hotel right next door is as the name suggests much grander and more up market.

Yes - we travelled with Virgin on the Eurostar to DLP many years ago - can't remember what it was called now but it was seperate to Virgin Holidays.

Virgin Express or Virgin Train or something like that I think

Congratulations on your upgrade.

My family and I stayed at the Tradewinds last year and it was a really lovely hotel. All the restaurants in the hotel we tried were really good (although a little pricey). Can recommend a long island ice tea at the bar on the beach and the Restaurant directly across the road does fantastic meals too.

Enjoy

Hi, we stayed in the Tradewinds Grand Island in 2003! We had a great time, the hotel is in a fantastic location, right on the beach! Graet cocktail menu! I watched the sun go down over the sand sipping a Pina Colada, on quite a few occasions!
Make sure you do the Dolphin hunting trip to Shell Isalnd! Brilliant!

Hope you have as a :cool2: great a time as we did!

Hi
We stayed at the Tradewinds grande Island, its lovely, great location - my sister just came back and she tried to Don Cesar further up the beach, which is supposed to be the top hotel in St Petes and she reckoned Tradewinds was just as nice.
There is a great fish restaurant on the opposite side of the road a bit further up the road called Snappers.
Have a great time!
Jo x
