Verizon employees hack Obama records

Some Verizon Wireless employees accessed billing records from a cell phone President-elect Barack Obama had used, the Obama transition and Verizon Wireless said Thursday.

Transition spokeswoman Jen Psaki said that Obama no longer uses the cell phone in question. But Verizon Wireless CEO Lowell McAdam issued a statement apologizing to Obama. He also said that whether they were authorized or not, the employees who breached the president-elect’s account face possible disciplinary action and were immediately put on leave without pay.

It’s unclear exactly what information the employees got, but a transition official said they did not listen to any of Obama’s voice mails or read any of his emails

HAHA, you're pretty funny! Where is your outraged post over Joe The Plumber's records being illegally checked by 18 different Ohio state agencies, or Sarah Palin's email being hacked by a Democratic State Senator's son?

I agree! :thumbsup2

Hacking into someone's personal communications is horrendous across the board and NON partisan.

Screw outrage, it's just plain wrong.

And, people, isn't Joe the Bummer's 15 minutes of fame UP? Gosh, didn't it NOT WORK???? :lmao:

Hacking into anyone's personal information is wrong; however, hacking into an account with telephone numbers and how much one pays monthly, as awful as it is, does not rise to the level of having your financial information, divorce information, child support and ACTUAL, PRIVATE COMMUNICATIONS hacked into. And again, your reference to a private citizen who dared to ask the "one" a question, reveals your disdain for someone who deserves none.

Maybe not the guy but the notoriety around him is just STUPID. Private citizen? Not anymore! This guy promotes himself like a celebrity and he gets what's coming to him.

I thought we had a right to disdain...waitaminute... MY disdain? Say WHAT? :rotfl2: I thought this place was the DISDAIN DEN!

I cringed when a poster here said (s)he worked for a national chain pharmacy, and could access anyone's rx's - THAT would have been even worse than cell phone records!

This is wrong, obviously - but the punishment for these employees is likely to be more severe than the punishment the state official in Ohio got for accessing and leaking the records of a private citizen.

A little OT, but when I first read the title, I thought it said "how low and deep can you sing." :lmao:

I was wondering how people could answer that on a message board.

What is coming to him? Having his privacy invaded? Asking a candidate a question gets you noticed by the Obama Truth Squad. Scary! :scared1:

I often wonder about that. My cousin works in a pharmacy who have many chains throughout the city and I *think* they're all networked. I've been using another branch of theirs for years and I dread to think she can easily find out what medications I've been on. She's not known for her tact and diplomacy. :(

Call it "shooting from the hip", but having Joe the plumber's records accessed scares me more than Obama's. The reason: I'm Joe the plumber. We're all Joe the plumber. I'm not trying to minimize Obama's records being accessed, but he is a person who is now in the public-eye. The regular person like you and me, what do we have to protect ourselves from people doing these sketchy things?

"How low and deep can you sink?"

I believe the responses on this thread (as well as others found on these boards) will adequately answer your question. :)

Yep, and the person who asked Palin a question was called the GOTCHA media...:sad2: I guess it's who asks the question and to whom.

He is FAR from just a guy, he was the subject of almost an entire debate. He is now a CELEBRITY and is subject to whatever he gets. And that includes the adoration from the right and the  from the rest of the world.

Up? It's barely started. The lawsuits will come soon, along with the tv time to keep the case in the public eye as it winds through the courts. Then, after he collects his millions in damages (courtesy of the Ohio taxpayers) will come the book deal. I think a good title would be "How The Democratic Party Made Me Rich" All because he asked a question that annoyed the Left. Way to go, Joe :worship:

Not only that, you have the case of Verizon employees engaging in criminal behavior, which will now bring down the wrath of the government. In Joe The Plumber's case the criminal IS the government.

And what does that criminal get? A slap on the wrist. One month vacation and just around Christmas time. How convenient.

Oh yeah. He's a real hero.

Also, good luck with those lawsuits, because he's going to have to prove some damages and I suspect he won't be able to. I'd love to be opposing counsel in that case; I could write that request for summary judgment in my sleep. As for a book deal, well first you're assuming that anyone still cares and that those who do can actually read.
