Just curious. How loud is the music at the sail away party. I know loud can be different to different people. But is it like background music where you can still talk or is it like a rock band where you have to shout.

My DW is sensitive to loud noise and I would just like to gauge the level.

thanks

This may just be me, but I find it to be WAY too loud there. We always watch the ship sail from the aft of the boat to avoid the noise there, but it seems like everyone else on the ship doesn't have a problem with it, so it may just be me. :)

It seemed VERY loud to me. Too loud for young children's ears that is for sure. I thought they could have toned it down about 100 decibels and still been loud enough. We could hear the whole sail away party from our balcony good enough we didnt even need to attend the whole thing. If your dw is really sensitive to loud noise I would suggest missing the main event and go to either the back or front of the ship or if you have a balcony go sit on it instead. It was fun for the kids to dance around and stuff but it was L-O-U-D!

You aren't talking anywhere near it.

Yes, it can be loud. If you don't like the music, go up on deck 10 and look down on the party from there. That is what we did. Not nearly as loud, not as crowded, and you got a good view of the entire party.

I thought it was too loud even up on deck 10. We had the DIS meet at Sailaway on the DVC Member Cruise and I'm really happy I got to meet a lot of the DIS'ers the night before. You could barely hear yourself think up there. We have always gone to deck 10 near the front (by the sports deck) for sailaway so that we could hear the horn.

The music was fun and it got us in a party mood, but way too loud for my taste.

What do my teens say to me all the time...."if its too loud, you're too old!!!" LOL

Yes, it is loud but I love it. It's a great way to get everyone in the cruisin mood!!!

Buckaroo's Dad - ROTFL! You are soooo right!

....very loud. On our first cruise we tried to have a DIS meet during sail-away - big mistake - couldn't hear each other unless you were right by the person and nearly shouting. But if you walk around the decks, you will find areas that don't seem quite as loud...

HORRENDOUSLY loud!!!!

You won't want to be on that deck if it might bother you. We went up to the top deck, where we could look down on it but didn't have to be surrounded by it.

Buckaroo's Dad I will take that advice and leave my hearing aids out for that.

I have the same question, regarding my son. He really get's sick to his stomach when it gets too loud (even in the cafeterial at school..we pull him out to eat his lunch a few days a week). All that beeing said, we still want to be a part of the sail a way party. We have a verandha room (7120), but really don't want to be in our room. We want to see the characters dance and all that good stuff!! So all you DCL veterans...where would be the best place for us to watch????? Thanks for any help. Of course, as always, if it is too loud for him we will definatly leave and just try to hear it from our verandha.

Pretty much anywhere in viewing area is going to be loud...I would suggest Deck 10 overlooking the party.

GoofyGal, when I take my boys to an event that might be loud (Monster trucks come to mind), I take a headset for them.

They sell them at any Sports Authority or hunting/camping shop where they have the earmuffs for people who use guns.

They do a wonderful job at keeping most of the sound out, and they can be had for less than $20.

I don't mind it loud but conversation can only be had via yelling. Bring along foam earplugs.

It's too loud. We were not even near the main "stage" and it was awfully loud. My dd (5) can't stand loud noises (although she makes enough of them herself!). I think they could lower the music down several notches and still get a decent sound! (Great parties though!)

After 3 cruises I've never even noticed the music being loud, just right for the occasion.

After 4 DCL experiences, I don't think it is too loud at all...We always get a spot on Deck 10 above the stage. It is wonderful! And we are able to talk to people.....
The music needs to be loud......it is the beginning of the cruise....getting everyone into the celebration atmosphere..the sailaway party is awesome! I cannot imagine why anyone would miss it!
